Villa In A Private Gated Development Not Overlooked - Free WiFI

Overview

Property

Updated: 02-Nov-2016
Villa in Saint Jean de Monts, Vendee, Pays de la Loire, France - Villa Adjacent To A Large Pine Forest And Is Only 5 Minutes Drive To The Beach Sleeps 8 (4 Bedrooms)

A modern Vendee style 4-bedroom villa with garage, within its own private gated development. Large front and rear garden with a heated pool, close to sandy beaches, shops and historic town of St Jean de Monts. Outdoor dining and lounging furniture (normally stored in garage) provided for your use, and built in garden barbecue. Boules playing area in the rear garden. It is part of the Domaine de Vertmarines, a development of holiday rental and private homes in a beautifully maintained landscaped setting and direct access to the large forest adjacent to the Domaine. The forest is vast and has many cycle tracks where you can explore other towns along the coast, including St. Hilaire-de-riz, St. Gilles, Notre Dame de Monts, and many more.

The town of St Jean de Monts is close by for all amenities, such as, bank, bakery, chemist and small boutique shops, along with a large outdoor market on a Wednesday and Saturday and an indoor market held every day.

Saint-Jean-de-Monts is renowned for its sandy beach, more than eight kilometres long. Due to its often low tides, it offers a great area for walkers, fishermen, and beach games and sports. St Jean de Monts has several glorious beaches which include the Plage Central, the Plages des Demoiselles to the south and the Plage de la Tonnelle to the north. The beach widens out to a glorious stretch of fine sand and there are 7 stations de surveillance along the commercial stretch of beach. There are all of the facilities that you would expect to find at a large commercial beach and nearby are numerous activities including many water sports, golf (links course) just a few minutes away at St Jean de Monts and a further couse near St. Gilles, mini golf, horse riding (just two minute drive from the villa) etc etc. The area boasts the highest number of sunshine hours in the whole of France.

The town is noteworthy for the recent restoration of its seafront, a vast town planning operation taking over five years to complete. The successful result now means a network of footpaths and cycle tracks are enhanced by an array of plants, flowers and shrubs. The predominantly flat terrain has allowed for the development of a vast 500 km² network of cyclepaths, known as the Sentiers Cyclables de la Vendée. These paths stretch from the island of Noirmoutier in the north, south past Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie. Jean-de-Monts is one of the most popular resorts in the Vendée and is within easy access of many attractions, including the little town of St Gilles Croix de Vie, a 20 minute drive away, with its quirky little tourist shops, old-style carousel and gorgeous ice cream, ideal for summertime evening strolls. The Island of Noirmoutier is a short boat trip, where you can walk along the beaches of Noirmoutier and enjoy the surrounding areas. Where’s the world’s best theme park? Orlando? Tokyo? Walt Disney World? Or in a little corner of the Vendée in France, tucked between the cities of Nantes and La Rochelle? Puy du Fou — a historical theme park complete with full reenactments and shows — is an interesting day trip. In 2012 Puy du Fou carried off the top theme park prize in the theme park Oscars, the Thea Awards, in Los Angeles for its creativity, quality and originality. Although the Puy du Fou theme park has no rides, it is far from short on spectacular experiences. It’s now the second most visited theme park in France, after Disneyland Paris.

About the Owner

Myself and my husband first discovered St Jean de Monts over 10 years ago while we lived in the UK. We enjoy cycling, golf, long walks, and exploring the different areas of the Vendee. We enjoy the long walks on the beach early in the morning watching the sunrise from the beach and in the evening watching the sunset from our west facing patio. Its spectacular.

We had a fantastic stay here!

  • 5 of 5

The property is very well appointed and maintained. The swimming pool was brilliant and we didn't need the heating. In terms of the holiday, the cycle routes were perfect for us and our daughters (13 and 7) and we found that by going out the back of the complex we could cycle to the beach and town in 10 to 15 minutes along cycle routes and quiet roads. There was plenty to do in the local area, canoeing and day visits out.

When I couldn't work the washing machine, Rose (owner) was on the end of the phone to help out So it was sorted almost immediately. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Thank you.

Beautiful Villa

  • 4 of 5

This property is in a very quiet Domaine, the Villa is spacious and well appointed, the pool is fantastic, close enough to Saint Jean De Monts to get there quickly but far enough away to be peaceful and private, an enjoyable 2 weeks with everything we could want in a Holiday.

Very nice property with lots of space for 8 people and a good sized private pool

  • 5 of 5

Stayed the first week in August with the property located in a nice position a couple of miles from Beaches, local Town and Hyper-Market. Property sleeps 8 comfortably and has a large kitchen, dining, lounge area that works well. Property is on a small secluded holiday resort and backs onto pine forest with cycle/walking tracks to the beach. Quite a few nice coastal towns with in easy driving reach and some local attractions such as a water park. I would recommend this property.

Modern villa in a pleasant development

  • 3 of 5

Situated in a pleasant domaine some distance from local town and facilities, but cyclable via the 'back gate' domaine entrance, along one of the many (flat!) cycle tracks in the area. Considering the rental cost, the furnishings and equipment are basic and functional but are adequate. Ventured in the pool but too cold outside the summer months unless you pay the extra for heating it and a cumbersome pool cover to roll/unroll each day/night. Electricity and cleaning is not included and will be taken out of the deposit, as is normal for French lets. Helpful owner and quick to respond. A good sized garage for any paraphanalia you have on-board and parking space outside. Good luck with finding the bin area (behind the garages and reception building, if you want a clue!)

Owner's Response: Dear Michelle, Thank you for taking the time out to write a review of our property. Your stay was up to the beginning of October and the region and the pool is much better enjoyed during the warmer Summer season. We invested in the highest quality pool cover for primarily safety reasons. At the same time we also invested in a robot so that the job of rolling/unrolling the cover is easy for the client. The bin area is clearly marked in the blue folder in the villa which is available for all clients to read. Look forward to seeing you again. Best regards, Rose Walker

Location

From the Owner

We originally visited the area with friends who bought in the Domain. We were soon smitten, its hard not to be. We all love the area as everything is on your door step. The beach is just a five minute drive away. The Vendee is a wonderful area with miles of sandy beaches and loads to keep the children entertained. Weather is perfect - sunny almost every day, temperatures pleasant without the fierce heat of southern France. The vendee coast is famous for its "sunny coast" with more sunshine here than anywhere else in France. Its never too busy and much more relaxed than other areas in the south.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

The beach is 5 minutes drive or a 10 to 15 minute cycle. The beach is all sandy and is very deep and about 5 kilometers long, there is also a lovely beach at St Gilles. For surfing you can go to Le-Sables, there are also other beaches on the way, and they hire wet suits and boards.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Nantes, City Jet fly there from London City Airport, check the web. for other airlines, as this has been changing. Easyjet do operate some flights. Nantes is 50 minutes drive, there are also plenty of car hire companies. You can also use Poitiers or La-Rochelle. If you prefer to bring your car the best port to arrive at is St Malo you then have a 2.5 hour drive, but you can use Caan which is a 4 hour drive. Both ports are served by Brittany Ferries.

Distances:

St Jean De Monts is 5 minutes drive away.

St Gilles Croix de Vie is 15 minutes drive, Challans is also 15 minutes. The city of Nantes is 1 hour away, there are many towns that you can visit all within an hour away.

Further Details:

In St Jean de Monts there are all the shops and banks you will need, there are also larger supermarkets 5 minutes from the house. There are restaurants to suit families, with different tastes, and also very special restaurants for the connoisseur of French cooking. Details of restaurants and local activities can be found in our guest information folder in the house, including go-karting, quad bikes, cycle hire, and in the forest there is an adventure course up in the trees, it has the longest zip wire in Europe. Its completely safe as you are attached to the cables and it is well supervised, it's fun for all ages. There is a redundant rail way line which has been converted to a cycle rail (Velorail), the specially made bikes seat 4 persons and you cycle along the line, stopping for your picnic when ever you like.

Facilities

From the Owner

Everything is close to the Domaine de Vertmarine. We love the walks on the long beach watching the locals collect small shell fish when the tide goes out. We love the markets.. Great choice of excellent restaurants. Lots of entertainment for the Children and all close by. We enjoy going for a long cycle or a walk in the adjacent woods. Sometimes we prefer just to relax by the pool, read a book and in the evening light the bbq and enjoy a glass. Thats what we like about staying at the villa. Its all up to you whatever you want to do!
