About the property

TOTAL RESTORATION - completed July 2015! 'La Petite Pause'. Beautiful views, peaceful, yet only 5min to Malaucene or Vaison. Villages, markets, cycling, trails, wine domaines.

Artisanal restoration of an authentic Provencal farmhouse, set in 2 acres, with private pool, pool house, and walled garden. There are beautiful views in all directions, across the surrounding vineyards and olive groves, towards Mt Ventoux and the Dentelle mountains. Now adapted to modern living, it makes a perfect, beautiful holiday base.

The house can comfortably accommodate 8 people in 4 double or twin bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. South facing and sunny, with easy inside-outside access and ample shade during the heat of the day.

Languish by the pool, bbq, play 'boules' and savour the local flavours - fresh from a number of local markets. Superb cycling! Close to Mt Ventoux, the property adjoins one of the most scenic bike routes in Europe. Mountain bike routes and nature trails can be accessed directly from the house. Visit the nearby perched villages - Crestet, Sablet, Seguret, Gigondas, try wines at famous Cote du Rhone domaines, or explore the roman towns of Vaison and Malaucene with their colourful markets, restaurants, and medieval 'old' towns.

About Tony Esslinger

Veronica and Tony moved from England to Provence in 2005. This is the second farmhouse we have restored. It's also the second time we are managing our rental property. We have many very positive comments from previous guests who regularly came back to spend their holidays with us. Will gladly forward some of these if you would like.

Tony Esslinger purchased this farmhouse in 2013

Why Tony Esslinger chose Haut-Vaucluse

The exceptional position and charm of this property is immediately apparent. It offered us a wonderful opportunity to restore the old house, add a modern, integrated extension, and make a beautiful new home. Peace and quiet in a secluded valley, with lovely views all around, yet close to towns and facilities.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The views are exceptional in all directions. It is very well located between the two most vibrant towns in the area.

No hesitation in recommending this property

  • 5 of 5

One of the easiest reviews I've had the pleasure to write. This property is superb. A beautifully renovated farmhouse furnished simply but with taste. Fixtures & fittings are of the utmost quality. Kitchen is perfectly equipped to cater for a large party. Inside decor is unfussy, modern, with just the right amount of pleasant decoration. Bedrooms are roomy and uncluttered with plenty of storage. All en-suites upstairs are contemporary with plenty of room, light and ventilation - very good design. Pool area is delightful, plenty of seating, shade if needed. If I'm being very fussy I would must mention that the en-suite downstairs (being internal), could do with some added ventilation. No hesitation in recommending this property, in my opinion it's one of the most comfortable ones we've stayed in, modern, but at the same time retaining a rustic feel. Nice touch having a boules pitch and table tennis.

Perfect in every way.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for almost 2 weeks. We have rented homes in many locations around the world and I would say, without question, this is our favorite. It is amazing inside and out. You are in the countryside where it is peaceful and oh so lovely- very private. We ate breakfast and lunch outside nearly every day. The kitchen is very well equipped, very modern with beautiful applicances. We were able to take advantage of all the wonderful product Provence has to offer to make some wonderful meals here, have long lazy dinners together outside with wine until dark.

The home is very clean, and inviting. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms beautiful and very modern. There are so many lovely places to sit and enjoy this home, it was hard deciding where to spend free time when we weren't out enjoying the rest of Provence!

You can cycle from the house (for you cyclists out there...) which was what we did most days during our stay there.

The pool was too cool for us to enjoy yet (we knew it would be for the time of year), but it is beautiful, and clean with many chaises for lounging and umbrellas/beautiful tree nearby for shade, too.

Tony and Victoria are an absolute delight, responded to email questions very promptly, and were available for questions, etc. They are wonderful people and should be so proud their beautiful restoration of this stunning home.

It couldn't be more perfect.

Beautiful place near Malaucene

  • 5 of 5

Lovely spot near Vaison and Malaucene, only a 45 minute drive from Avignon and a great base from which to explore Sorgues, Remy and other beautiful villages and towns. The villa is well equipped and the hosts have thought of everything that you need.

Perfect property in Provence!

  • 5 of 5

We spent an amazing 2 weeks at this property and I cannot recommend it enough.

The house was immaculate and has all the amenities you require! We were 2 families sharing the property and never felt on top of each other. The pool and garden were fabulous for the kids and we spent many a day relaxing and swimming. The property is extremely well appointed, whether you want to pop in to Malaucene in the morning to pick up pastries, visit one of the many markets in the surrounding villages or venture up Mont Ventoux.

We also enjoyed playing tennis in Malaucene and visiting the Gorges de Tourelanc- which was just perfect for a picnic (remember your river shoes!).

The hosts Tony and Veronica were amazing- very helpful and attentive, always on hand to give us tips on the area and ensure we had everything we needed. Thanks for a fabulous stay, we will definitely be back!

Uitstekend!!!

Excellent Property

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place for a relaxing holiday. Everything you need is on hand. It is clean, superbly appointed and set in such a perfect area. Either lounge by the pool or explore the nearby countryside: Mont Ventoux, hill top villages, local markets, numerous wine growing areas. Tony, the owner, is excellent. He is always on hand to share information about the area and is keen to make sure your stay is comfortable and problem free. It has to be one of the best properties we have ever stayed in. Highly recommended. Hopefully we can return!

A beautiful property in a heavenly part of the world…..

  • 5 of 5

This very spacious house is immaculately presented and generously equipped - nothing is wanting. It is furnished with a carefully considered mix of old and new and has a lovely and relaxing atmosphere. It is well situated within vineyards a short drive from the main road so convenient but peaceful. Externally, there are great views from the gardens, lots of outdoor furniture, a good sized pool and table tennis. The owners are friendly and concerned that your stay is perfect but still maintain a discrete presence. There are great walks from the door and Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Monmirail are within a short driving distance. There are many perfect medieval villages to explore including the southern Rhone villages of Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Seguret for winelovers. We spent a most wonderful week here and would highly recommend this property.
