The Grain Store is a comfortable, light and airy converted stone barn situated on a lovely 21 acre country estate. Close to award winning beaches, stunning coastal walks and a wide array of activities including numerous water-sports all within 15-20 mins drive. It makes an ideal setting for family holidays or special gatherings.

The Grain Store offers families and groups a high standard of accommodation across 3 large bedrooms (1 ground floor), all with en-suite bathrooms (2 of which upgraded in Spring 2016), and a further separate cloakroom. White Company bedlinen is provided and a well behaved pet is welcome subject to prior discussion with the owner. White Company Towels are provided for stays of 5 nights and more - for shorter lets there is a supplement of £5pp.

The property benefits from a large, open plan kitchen, lovely dining, living space with double height ceilings and solid wood flooring.

The kitchen was installed new in Spring 2016 and benefits from new appliances throughout including dishwasher, Neff gas hob and oven and microwave oven, full height fridge freezer and Nespresso coffee machine. There is also a washing machine located in the downstairs cupboard. The sitting room has large flat screen T.V with freesat, DVD player and iPod compatible sound system.

There is private parking for 2 cars at the front of the property and an outside space with dining table, chairs and Weber BBQ which captures the afternoon and evening sun, ideal for alfresco dining and bbq's.

The popular estuary towns of Salcombe and Dartmouth are close by and offer excellent water-sport facilities and an array of interesting shops, delis and restaurants including 2 supermarkets. The neighbouring village of Frogmore has an excellent bakery/village shop/post office and pub, whilst Chillington village which is only a little further away has a health centre, pub and a few more shops.

We bought The Grain Store just before Christmas in 2014 as a place to spend some quality family time and share with guests, friends and family all the benefits that Stancombe and the South Hams bring.

The facilities on the Stancombe estate mean it has something to offer all year round and its location means you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside on the estate but be only a short drive from the water, beaches and nearby towns.

What a lovely stay in beautiful surroundings. Lots to do to keep everyone occupied. Lovely kept grounds, nice walks, Tennis court, Putting for golf and a swimming pool, to keep us all entertained. Also had a couple of meals out at the Globe Inn, where staff were very friendly. The house/cottage itself was very clean and modern and couldn't have been better equipped. All of the rooms were very good sizes and made our stay very comfortable. Would highly recommend. I meant to write in the visitors book, but hope this review is sufficient.

Stunning Property in South Devon

My family had an amazing time at the Grain Store. Our party comprised four adults and kids under 8. The house itself is beautifully laid out and comfortable. We cooked nearly all of our meals there and had everything we needed (not to mention beautiful serving dishes). The rooms were large and well-decorated and the beds and sheets were comfortable. We all slept like babies. We loved the grounds and took full advantage of the putt-putt golf, playground, games room and pool. What a beautiful place. I was ready to move in! Not to mention, that despite it's away-from-it-all location, we were only minutes away from Kingsbridge and all the beaches and restaurants close by there. We had the most stunning hike along the coast from Bolberry to Hope Cove and enjoyed some good seafood at the Beach House. Thank you Tom for an amazing stay. You've thought of every details and the caliber of the property is top rate!

The Grain Store was perfect in every way

The property was clean and spacious and extremely well equipped, everything has been thought of. The on site facilities were perfect, something for every family member. The games room, snooker room were a big hit. Swimming pool, pitch and put golf and even a tennis court were used.

The house was local to nearby beaches, and there was even a public footpath for our morning dog walks. The bottle of wine waiting on the table was a perfect start to our holiday.

We hope to visit again in the not too distant future.

Lovely place ideal for family

This our second time at Stancombe Farm in the Grain Store, we love it there especially all the facilities available for the kids, Swimming, play room, park, golf etc... This time we went with more family and booked the cottage next door Honeysuckle Cottage which worked really well. The property is ideal as a base for the surrounding Devon area with lots to do definitely recommend Hope Cove, Salcombe, Spennywell Farm, woodlands and Model Village. Thanks and I'm sure we will be back again soon.

Glorious cottage in a divine setting

We had a really fantastic time at The Grain Store. The cottage was spacious, clean and new, with comfortable beds, great showers, and attention to detail that we loved - the appliances were top-end, there were blackout blinds over the sky lights, there was a Nespresso machine. The pool was great and kept the kids busy, as did the tennis court. It was dog-friendly which was a real bonus for us. The grounds are immaculate and the area itself was just so pretty. We had a wonderful stay and we would definitely love to return. I would recommend The Grain Store to anyone who loves a relaxing holiday in a glorious area.

Beautiful, well equipped, spacious and FUN cottage!

A fantastic little bolthole in rural Devon. The Grain Store is a self contained three bedroom cottage with a beautiful open plan kitchen-diner-living room. The kitchen looked brand new and is fabulously equipped - had everything we needed. Two of the bedrooms are up an lovely wooden staircase, both ensuite, with the third bedroom downstairs also ensuite. There is a separate downstairs cloakroom too.

The unexpected thing was the "secret" staircase from two of the rooms down to the games room for the farm (13 self contained apartments), which included toys, books, pool table, table tennis and table football (all free to use). Also on site is a fantastic 10m swimming pool which was always warm and a sauna too. Ian, the caretaker, was around most days for a friendly chat.

The only negative thing I would say is that there is no broadband, and the mobile phone signal isn't strong enough to use mobile internet. It was quite nice to be "disconnected", but made it difficult to look up opening times (and days out of season) of local attractions - need to plan ahead!

The estate is on a quiet rural road so no traffic to disturb anyone. The local roads are all very narrow - lots of passing places for the frequent tractors around - but the locals all seemed very happy to pull to one side when passing. Kingsbridge is the nearest town with a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants.

All in all - a fantastic little cottage with exceptional amenities.

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

Torcross and Slapton are the nearest beaches on the A381 about 10 mins by car and Blackpool sands about 20 mins. They are shingle beaches, whilst the sandy beaches of East Portlemouth, (opposite Salcombe) North and South Sands, Hope Cove, Thurlestone, Bantham and Bigbury are about 30 mins by car.

Travel:

The nearest airports are located in Exeter and Plymouth. Totnes is the nearest railway station.

Distances:

10 minute drive to Kingsbridge, 20 minute drive to Salcombe and Dartmouth.

Further Details:

Excellent Bakery in Frogmore (5 mins away) and an additional very well provisioned local shop in East Allington (7 mins away)

Large Tescos and Morrisons in Kingsbridge (10 mins away) which also has excellent restaurants, bars, delis and numerous independent shops and banks to be explored. There is also a great cinema.
