About lesley Mclellan

We live in Scotland and Sheildaig Farm at Loch Lomond was our home for 17 years. We ran the house as a luxury bed and breakfast and enjoyed this lifestyle for many years before now letting the house and grounds out as a holiday home so others can enjoy the country lifestyle and surrounding countryside . We live nearby and work in Glasgow.

lesley Mclellan purchased this farmhouse in 1997

Why lesley Mclellan chose Alexandria

Sheildaig Farm is surrounded by fields and woodland with beautiful walks up onto the hillside where you can look down onto Loch Lomond. With chickens in the garden and a horse in the field nearby it is a relaxing place in the country but only a 5 minute drive from the nearest Village and shores of Loch Lomond, 5 minutes from the local train that takes you to Glasgow or a 25 minutes drive from Glasgow Airport.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The property has lovely gardens and a cobbled courtyard with some of the bedrooms in the annexe, these rooms have their own entrance so for smaller families the main farmhouse is sufficient, but for bigger families or a number of couples you have the addition of these rooms with their own ensuites and private entrances.

The Trip of a Lifetime

  • 5 of 5

We traveled from Canada with my 80 year old mother and couldn't have been happier. The house was perfect for us. Located close to everything, My mother has mobility issue, but the house was well equipped for her to move around with her walker as well as a wheelchair when we needed. Lesley was amazing, offering suggestions and making sure we had everything necessary for us to enjoy a trip of a lifetime to Scotland. The beds were comfortable and the property was immaculate. Would highly recommend this property.

Beautiful setting and lovely farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Sheildaig Farm. It provided the ideal family experience for a vacation allowing us to connect and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The farmhouse is wonderfully kitted out for your home away from home needs. The location was perfect as a central travel point and easy access to other locations.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

REALLY EXCELLENT LOCATION at the foot of Loch Lomond and its attractions, or go east of the loch to Sterling castle or the Trossachs/ Loch Katrine or go North or North west to Inverary, GlenCoe or even Oban and Fort William or a train into Glasgow from Balloch. Pony trekking right next door too. and a good local walk up the hill. Return day train trip fom Arrochar/Tarbet to Fort William ( go 9.37 arrive 12.10 and come back at 5.37 arive circa 8pm) was excellent _ a great train trip of the world across Rannoch moor (and a 90 minute boat trip on Loch Linnhe at Fort William at 3 pm). £25 return tickets bought from Balloch station. You can even go onto Mallaig and back in a day ( but 5 hours each way and 2 hours in Mallaig).

LOCAL SHOPS close by in Balloch- good Coop supermarket

EXCELLENT HOUSE. Wonderful dining area and choice of 4 rooms to relax in. Large sitting room off the well appointed kitchen and separate large "white" sitting room. Sonos speaker to tune your ipad into, TVs everywhere! Excellent bedrooms/ ensuites. Interestingly furnished adorned, lots of books and info.

LESLIE Very helpful and puts right the odd item you mention which needs a small fix/ replacement_ so much is provided that this is inevitable.

Just go slow( 5mph) and pick your route carefully up the occasionally bumpy track to the house and its fine for all but low slung sports cars.

Thanks for a wonderful week. We enjoyed a wedding at the local Luss church and then a reception at Boturich Castle and had a wonderful weeks holiday around that.

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

I have just come back from a fantastic long weekend at Sheildaig Farm with friends. The house is beautifully decorated and well equipped. Lesley even kindly bought some everyday groceries to start us off. Perfect location for exploring Loch Lomond. Lesley supplied us with information on things to do and places to go for dinner. I would highly recommend this place and cannot wait to go back!

Excellent facilities and location

  • 5 of 5

We booked this farmhouse for a surprise birthday weekend for my wife who comes from Dumbarton and has extended family and friends in the area

The location was excellent, especially for our grandson of under 2 years of age, Great layout, very family friendly and loads to see and do being on the doorstep of Loch Lomond and the National Park.

I would certainly recommend this to anyone planning a week away, Near enough to main routes, (adjacent to A82 and A 811), services and facilities like shops are all fairly close by in Alexandra and Balloch, (5 minutes in the car), etc but also remote enough to give you the feeling of being away from it all. For the golfers amongst us, Loch Lomond, Dumbarton, Cardross, Vale of Leven are all on the doorstep and a short car trip opens up the opportunity to play a wealth of others on the West Coast

Heartily recommended
