About the Owner

We have owned the house in Vidauban for nearly 10 years , since then after much work and updating it is truly a home from home for us and are frequent visitors , approximately every four weeks for long weekends and at aleast two weeks during the summer holidays. When not in Vidauaban we reside in the south east of England , with a love of France from childhood years, and it is our intention to reside their permanently when life and finances allows. The property is not let out for extensive periods max 6 weeks per year, to allow us to cover some of the running costs, and is done so ona first come first served basis..

Superb property in a great location

This was our second visit and once again it impressed us with a new feature (decking with a pergola)! Great location with easy links to Marseille, Nice and the Riviera but not too touristy. I would highly recommend this property as it has a fantastic pool and summer kitchen, secluded and peaceful but close to town for the excellent little supermarket and boulangeries. Ideal for families or groups. Go and enjoy!

Great villa with fabulous pool

We stayed for a week, but wish it could have been longer!

Well equipped villa with 4 beds and 3 baths. Air con throughout. Highlight was the fantastic and warm pool.......great for playing in but enough space for a few lengths if you want to. Also a very convenient pool house with loo, shower, fridge, bbq and cooker.

Close to Vidauban which has all you need in terms of food etc (and a great Sunday market........particularly for the availability of rotisserie chicken vans and 5 euro hats!), including a decent sized Intermarche. About 1hr 15 from Nice and a bit less to Cannes.

We thoroughly recommend.

Fantastic villa in a great location

Great welcome from the owners. The villa was even more spectacular than the photos! We spent all of our waking hours at the villa outside in the outdoor summer kitchen. the area is good for site seeing with the Coast and the Gorge Du Verdon not far. Position of the villa allows for either Marseilles or Nice to be used if flying. We have stayed in quite a few villas on the Cote D'Azure and this was the best so far with absolutely no negative points.

Week in Provence

I spent a week at this villa in September with my young family. It was perfect.


The property itself is beautiful. It enjoys a large plot and is nicely secluded.

The property is very well maintained. The bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchen etc. look as they have recently been refurbished. The pool area/gardens are stunning and very well secluded. There is a pool-house equipped with a brick barbecue, kitchen/dining area and shower/toilet. We spent most of our time in this area.


The drive from Nice airport is about 45mins - it's quite a straightforward journey, mostly on the motorway. I believe Marseille airport is a similar distance away.

The property sits in a very nice, secluded area close to many vineyards. The town square (Vidauban) is about 5 minutes’ drive from the property. There you will find everything you need from supermarkets through to restaurants and bars.

St Tropez, Cannes and Monaco are all under 1 hour away by car

Overall, I would highly recommend this villa. I have stayed at other villas in France, which have felt quite dated. This property has been very well maintained & modernised, but still has that French charm about it. We will definitely be returning to this property.

All you'll ever need.

I have stayed in this property twice now, once with family and once with a group. Both times have been excellent. The villa itself is large, spacious with all the facilities you will ever need and very well maintained. On the last visit, it was noticeable that money had been spent modernising the interior. The key asset is the large pool which is fantastic. We spent most of our time using the kitchen and barbeque area in the pool house and dipping in and out of the pool. Very relaxing. The grounds are large too so plenty of space for the kids to run around safely.

Vidauban itself is a traditional French village with shops, cafes and restaurants around the town square etc., and slightly further afield good access to the Cote d’Azur, several water parks and the gorgeous and picturesque Lac du Verdon, with a plethora of water activities from windsurfing, to pedal boat rentals, and of course a great number of Vineyards to sample the local Rose wine. Recommend very highly.

Property purchased in this location was due to its ideallyc setting to the outskirts of a traditional french town ( and french way of life), with excellent transport links to aiports at Nice/ Toulon and Marseille, all of which range from about 1hr to 1,20 mins driving time. The property itself nestles itself up a long drive, away from the road and secluded from other properties giving it ultimate seclusion and privacy. The atttraction of the property is its traditional mediteraenean styling and design. Whilst secluded the property allows access to the town within a few minutes drive with all ammendities one could want from restaurants to shops etc. Finally great access to the coast where you can be enjyong a beer in St Tropez withihn 40 minutes ( depending on the season !)

The Mediterranean coastline lies less 50 min away with a superb choice of lovely beaches; Sainte-Maxime, Fréjus, Saint-Raphaël, Saint-Tropez and Cannes.

Nearby Saint-Tropez is perhaps the most famous beach resort in the world with its celebrity lifestyle and Mediterranean chicness. The 'Vieux Port', with the old town rising above the Eastern quay is where you'll get the classic Saint-Tropez experience. Choose from many sidewalk cafés to just sit and watch people go by.


The two closest airports to the villa are Marseille and Nice (88km) so the use of a car is essential.


Vidauban town : 2-3 mins drive

Gorges du Verdon (France’s Grand Canyon) : 40 mins

The Mediterranean coastline lies less 50 min away with numerous superb beaches; Sainte-Maxime, Fréjus, Saint-Raphaël, Saint-Tropez and Cannes.

Many beautiful, typical Provençal villages all around including Châteaudouble, Bargemeon, Callas, Seillans and Callian. Port Grimaud (just outside Saint-Tropez) can be likened to Venice with its brightly coloured houses, waterways, cafes and restaurants.

Further Details:

Vidauban is a small working French town about 15 miles from the sea and has a cinematic quality to it – a heartbroken Colin Firth retreated to a house near Vidauban in the 2003 romance Love Actually.

The town of about 7,500 lies above the Argens River, in the shadow of the Ste Brigitte Chapel, which was built upon a former Volcano. Vidauban was occupied back in the Iron Age, and Roman ruins stud the area, as do centuries – old abbeys.

All of the shops and restaurants in Vidauban are 5 minutes’ walk away from the town square.

There is no shortage of good options for eating and drinking in Vidauban and the local area, whether it is for a morning coffee, lunchtime snack, an early evening aperitif in the sunshine or a rather more substantial meal.

Vidauban has a long established Michelin guide Restaurant “Le Concorde” in the main square. Two minutes’ walk away you will find Le Bastide de Magnans, again the food is fantastic and booking is essential in the summer since eating sur terrasse is obligatoire and space becomes limited (both are reasonably expensive). Again the Pizza restaurant La Bouteille dans le Mer is off the main square, again book to ensure a place on the covered terrace. Le Café de Paris also situated in the main square offers a fine and inexpensive menu. Additionally, for those who enjoy Crepes, Creperie Bretonnerie located in the village also has a lovely outdoor eating area to the rear , and for those who enjoy steak, Le Resto du Boucher, can be found direction of Le Muy heading out of town. This is recognisable by a large statue of a cow outside; again a lovely exterior terrasse to eat of a summer’s evening.

There are several Bars and Tabacs situated around the main square area, where you can enjoy a cold beer and take in the local atmosphere.

Additionally, there is a snack bar / café just up from the local play park, which serves drinks/ breakfasts and lunches at very reasonable prices.

  • Notes on accommodation: The property is completely enclosed and has electric security gates. No smoking in the property. Outside: The beautiful grounds are established and well-maintained. The veranda extends the width of the property and there is a covered dining terrace with table and chairs. There are wicker chairs and a settee for outside relaxation in the shade. The newly refurbished heated pool is 11m x 5m x 2m with a shallow beach area towards the sun terrace where the sun loungers are situated. There is a pool-house which has also recently been refurbished which consists of a BBQ area, kitchen with hob and fridge, seating area, TV with UK Sky channels, WC and shower. Swings, small slide and trampoline. Utility Room: Utility area with washing machine, washing airer, iron and ironing board. There is a washing line in the garden. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linens and towels included (not pool towels). For a two-week stay, towels are changed half-way through and there is a mid-stay clean. Other: All bedrooms have bedside tables with lamps and new linens. Bedrooms 1,3,4 have wardrobes; bedrooms 2,3,4 have sets of drawers.
