About the property

Holiday Cottage - Ironbridge

The area is perfect for a family holiday, or a long weekend away with friends. Located just opposite Dale End Park, across the road from a supermarket, and just a gentle stroll besides the River Severn to the bars and restaurants.

Furnished to a high standard, the house benefits from a well-equipped kitchen, comfy couches, and we put duvets on our SilentNight beds.

We like our guests to feel comfortable when they're here and so the property will have been professionally cleaned and you'll find fresh towels on the beds.

Ironbridge is on the doorstep of the Shropshire Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The area isn't too large to explore by car, in a weekend; or if you're keen on walking, take the week. Ironbridge is also close to Telford with regular buses from the car park around the corner.

The house is within a few minutes from a well-stocked Cooperative Supermarket, Dale End Park, The Malthouse (live music on the weekends, (typically indie rock)), and The White Hart, which serves great food, wine and beer.

The amenities of Telford has improved greatly over the last few years and now benefits from all of the chain restaurants, many shops, and a selection of high-specification cinemas.

The Neighbourhood

Dale End Park is very well maintained by the local council. There's plenty of space for everyone and there's a great play area for kids. It's so good it makes me want to be a little younger than I am!

Getting Around

There is parking for one car outside the front door, further parking is available at day rates (£2.00), or depending on our reservations, we may be able to offer you a second parking space free of charge.

Buses to Telford and Shrewsbury operate from the local car park. Telford is nearest local train station.

Other Things to Note

For bigger groups we have a second property just across the car park. Sleeping arrangements are identical to this one. If the calendar is booked for this one, perhaps send us an email anyway. We may be able to accommodate you.

Cooperative Supermarket (7am - 10pm) There's a cash machine just outside.

Beautiful cottage, centrally located, with parking space

  • 5 of 5

Fabulous wooden decor, high end appliances, finished to a high standard & everything you need for a short break. Spent 4 days/3 nights in very comfortable surroundings. Shops & 1 museum just a stroll away. The actual Ironbridge Gorge bridge & Toll house a little further along the main street. Lovely park facing the front of the house. Would highly recommend.

Perfect size for 3, we stayed here for 6 days after Christmas for NYE for a little break, beautiful surroundings and great location, park for our toddler across the road and co op.

Fully equipped kitchen only thing to remember is there is no freezer.

Clean and cosy

Beautiful little house in lovely location. Ideal for our party of 3 adults.

Spotlessly clean house, fully equiped and tastefully furnished. Within walking distance of the Ironbridge gorge museums, shops, pubs and restaurants. Perfect for our requirements. Absolutely no fault to find with this lovely holiday home.

Bitterly disappointed

  • 1 of 5

Paid in full in Feb for a weekend stay in August. Arrived to find cottage dirty. Dirty bedding on floor, used towels in bath and uncleaned since last occupants. Was advised I could either clean it myself or find alternative accommodation. As it was by now 4.30pm on a bank holiday Saturday and we were hours away from home I actually bought cleaning products and prepared to clean, but found there were no clean towels or bedding (was told there was), so owner informed me I'd have to find alternative accommodation (at 4.45pm on a bank holiday Saturday!). Luckily tourist information found us a b&b in another village. I paid for it cash - all my holiday spending money. I provided all the information about the alternative b&b and also provided an email confirmation forwarded straight from the b&b proving what I'd paid. The owners had already promised they'd pay the cost before I booked it, just £15 more than I'd already paid for the cottage.

But they didn't pay anything.

They refused to answer calls and e-mails and kept hanging up when I tried to speak to them. Not great when you're having to ring them in Germany. I eventually had to raise a formal complaint with owners direct and then only got part of the cost back. They have been rude and uncooperative and then even accused me of being abusive when I absolutely was not. Was left totally shocked by this terrible experience. Really really dreadful.

Owner's Response: This review is almost entirely untrue. There was a scheduling error and the property wasn't cleaned. This was unfortunate and was resolved within 1.5 hours of the guests arrival. They had already checked into alternative accommodation in spite of being informed that the problem was being resolved. When speaking to my colleague the guest asked if there were cleaning materials, to which we replied yes. I hope this gives you a sense of how the facts are being distorted. We agreed to pay for their alternative accommodation and even said we would pay for it directly on our credit card. They refused and paid cash, so we said that we would transfer the money to them if they provided a receipt. They forwarded me an email from the B&B that promised a receipt on formal request. I requested it and received no reply. The guest then told us that the B&B wouldn't provide a formal receipt for "security reasons". After they made a few abusive phone calls (to a UK number) they decided that a few threatening answerphone messages to a German number were required. (Yes, when you email us; you email Daphne's son in Germany.) They kept on repeating that they had provided a receipt like it would somehow become true if they said it enough. When they complained to Owner's Direct; I immediately refunded the entire amount that they paid. I did it to resolve the matter until the receipt was provided. We are still willing to provide the additional money on provision of a receipt which is currently not available to us. We require a receipt for our accounting like all businesses require. If you read this review and find any merit in it; it is probably for the best if you find alternative accommodation. Otherwise; I would like to give you our assurance that the problem that led to the property not being cleaned on arrival has been resolved.

Charming comfortable cottage well placed for touring

  • 5 of 5

We had a comfortable stay in August this year. Close to all the local attractions and an easy walk to local pubs and restuarants. There is a small supermarket across the road and interesting shops locally within walking distance. We walked in the park across the road and along the river severn. The house was clean and had everything we needed for our stay and parking was easy at the rear of the house in an allocated parking space, there was even a small dishwasher. We bought an annual pass for the Ironbridge museums which worked out well and I loved the Blists Hill victorian town, although there was an additional charge for car parking. Husband brought his bicycle and enjoyed the local countryside riding his bike. The house is on the main road but there was very little traffic at night. I would recommend this property and would have no hesitation in staying here again.
