About the property

Holiday Cottage - Ironbridge

The area is perfect for a family holiday, or a long weekend away with friends. Located just opposite Dale End Park, across the road from a supermarket, and just a gentle stroll besides the River Severn to the bars and restaurants.

Furnished to a high standard, the house benefits from a well-equipped kitchen, comfy couches, and we put duvets on our SilentNight beds.

We like our guests to feel comfortable when they're here and so the property will have been professionally cleaned and you'll find fresh towels on the beds.

Ironbridge is on the doorstep of the Shropshire Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The area isn't too large to explore by car, in a weekend; or if you're keen on walking, take the week. Ironbridge is also close to Telford with regular buses from the car park around the corner.

The house is within a few minutes from a well-stocked Cooperative Supermarket, Dale End Park, The Malthouse (live music on the weekends, (typically indie rock)), and The White Hart, which serves great food, wine and beer.

The amenities of Telford has improved greatly over the last few years and now benefits from all of the chain restaurants, many shops, and a selection of high-specification cinemas.

The Neighbourhood

Dale End Park is very well maintained by the local council. There's plenty of space for everyone and there's a great play area for kids. It's so good it makes me want to be a little younger than I am!

Getting Around

There is parking for one car outside the front door, further parking is available at day rates (£2.00), or depending on our reservations, we may be able to offer you a second parking space free of charge.

Buses to Telford and Shrewsbury operate from the local car park. Telford is nearest local train station.

Other Things to Note

For bigger groups we have a second property just across the car park. Sleeping arrangements are identical to this one. If the calendar is booked for this one, perhaps send us an email anyway. We may be able to accommodate you.

Cooperative Supermarket (7am - 10pm) There's a cash machine just outside.

Cute cottage in a great location, just needs TLC

  • 3 of 5

My friend booked this cottage for us over the long weekend (Friday to Monday) and on first impressions it looked like a really nice cottage, which it is!

Positives: Great location and parking space, good room inside to move about in. Shop across the road (1 minute walk) and very close to all the local attractions Ironbridge has to offer. Nice furniture and decor too.

Negatives: I just feel that the property needs some TLC. Not impressed with a few things that I feel let the property down, such as a broken toilet seat, shower fan that doesn't work, broken shower enclosure door, low pressure shower and not enough toilet roll.

I feel 2 small towels each wasn't enough and the fact there wasn't any kitchen roll or tea towels was a basic item that wasn't provided, very odd. Broken bin lid, a clock that didn't work in the kitchen and no freezer! Very strange. There were a few dead flies knocking about in windowsills and the sitting room window wouldn't open for some strange reason.

The bed in the small room was quite small for an adult to sleep on, could do with a 3/4 bed in there.

My friend also required a travel cot but after asking the owner this wasn't available, so I had to arrange one myself (extra effort), there wasn't a stair gate or a high chair so when saying 'children welcome' it could be a bit more child friendly and provide these items to make it more welcoming to families with young children. I think the owner could have provided one to help us out but this wasn't possible.

I think these things let such a charming cottage down, it didn't ruin the stay but it just made it annoying when faced with issues, things you don't expect to find when paying a fair amount for a holiday cottage.

Warm and comfortable. Good value for money. Perhaps a few more toilet roles and dish clothes would have been useful. Absolutely great area would book again. Thank you

Beautiful cottage, centrally located, with parking space

  • 5 of 5

Fabulous wooden decor, high end appliances, finished to a high standard & everything you need for a short break. Spent 4 days/3 nights in very comfortable surroundings. Shops & 1 museum just a stroll away. The actual Ironbridge Gorge bridge & Toll house a little further along the main street. Lovely park facing the front of the house. Would highly recommend.
