Swan Street Hayloft is set within the grounds of 17thC Kentish barn, in idyllic Kent countryside. Swan Street Hayloft has been converted to provide the most modern comforts and luxury accomodation. The historic villages of Charing and Lenham are only minutes away with numerous restaurants and local shops. Local pub with good food 5 minutes walk. Near to Leeds Castle and the cathedral city of Canterbury. A short drive into the heart of the Weald with its charming villages and historic attractions. Both Kent coasts can be reached within 20 minutes, including the fishing town of Whitstable famed for its oysters, to the north, and Dover with its historic castle and white cliffs to the south. Golfers have numerous courses to choose from with the Nick Faldo designed Chart Hills nearby. Other outdoor pursuits include miles of beautiful walks such as the Pilgrims Way on the North downs, and not forgetting the cycling and horse riding. The Hayloft situated on a small farm and guests are welcome to walk round and enjoy seeing the animals.

A Hidden Gem!

This was an ideal location for us to explore the many sights of Kent and even east Sussex.Countless castles, cathedrals or abbeys, gorgeous countryside, pleasant drives and friendly people - couldn't have been better! Oh, and an excellent Thai restaurant not too far a drive away.

It was perfect for our family of 3, and as well as having all the essentials of a self-catering cottage, had plenty of charm and individuality inside and outside, from the delightful upstairs rooms, through to the welcome hamper, ongoing sale of pork items through to the occasional visiting peacocks!

A real hidden gem that we recommend!

Sehr gepflegtes und liebevoll Eingerichtetes Haus und sehr nette und hilfsbereits Eigentümerin. Innerhalb von Radius 30 miles ist man am Meer und bei vielen tollen Sehenswürdigkeiten + Schnellzug in Ashford nach London. Wir kommen wieder👍

Family of 5 (children of age 6,4 and 1) in Hayloft

We had a wonderful stay at the Swan Street Barn (we slept in the Hayloft) and Paul was a perfect guide on our tour through the farm and spoiled us with eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers,...

Our three children (6,4 and 1) loved the surroundings and the pub Red Lion is really close. The Red Lion has a friendly atmosphere and lovely food. Dogs and children are welcome as it is a real family pub.

We made wonderful visits to Dover Castle (2x), Leeds Castle (2x), Dockyards Chatham, Deal, Canterbury and Audley End House and Gardens. The location is really central, so no long drives or just ideal to have the children do a little nap in the car.

Lovely accommodations in an ideal location for exploring southeast England.

Our family had a wonderful holiday at Swan Street Farm. We stayed for three weeks, and everything about the Hayloft was charming and thoughtful. High quality furnishings and linens, with all modern conveniences. We were able to cook meals, do laundry, take beautiful country walks, stay connected with excellent wifi, and enjoy the nearby village. We also found the Hayloft ideal for day trips, including exploring London and Broadstairs by rail, or driving to Canterbury, Dover, Leeds Castle, and other sites. The village of Charing has a lovely tearoom (Rosebud), a pharmacy, and a well-stocked grocery with convenient hours. Of course, many other large shops are just a few miles away in Ashford. Joanna was a gracious hostess, always quick to reply to any questions we had. Highly recommend the Hayloft to anyone looking for a quiet country setting with convenient access to London and more.

Haycroft, Charing

Very welcoming, and comfortable for us as a couple - a very well-designed farm building conversion, and the owners were very welcoming and as helpful as they could be

But points to note for others -

- the WC is downstairs, and the two bedrooms are in-line from the (upstairs) lounge, so users of the furthest bedroom (the double) would have to pass through the other (twin) bedroom to use the WC at night

- the upper floor has restricted height except along the centre, and even in the centre six-footers will find it tight

- the TV reception was poor, so it was good we had access to Sky Go and BBC iPlayer in the evenings, though the reception issue may well be sorted soon

Overall therefore, good but four stars rather than five

Maximum occupancy at any time including visitors 4 people and 1 under 5's Outside: Swan Street Hayloft is within the grounds of 15th century hall house, in idyllic Kentish countryside. There is an outside seating area and BBQ. The hayloft is situated in 15 acres of gardens and farm land with lots of farm animals to visit and enjoy. We have numerous Goats, ducks, chickens, ponies, sheep, pigs and lots more. Swan Street produce is also available seasonally including free range eggs, free range sausages, bacon, hams, gammon, lamb, and free range Turkey and goose. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen provided, changed weekly.
