Overdale Cottage is a beautiful 200 year old former lead miner's cottage. It is very spacious and has exposed beams and stonework, log burning stove set within the original gritstone fireplace (initial basket of logs supplied October to March), and full gas central heating. The cottage has a lovely beamed sitting room/dining area and there is a separate kitchen. A spiral staircase leads to the bedroom and bathroom.

The cottage is tucked away down a cobbled footpath on the side of Bradford Dale yet is only a very short walk from the village's pubs and shops. There are three pubs in the village all selling good food and a wide variety of beers and wines including local ales and they are all dog friendly. There is also the Youlgrave Village Shop and Tea Rooms, a post office/general store and a bakery. With numerous walks straight from the cottage door to Bradford Dale, Middleton Dale, Lathkill Dale National Nature Reserve, Over Haddon, Robin Hood's Stride and many more Overdale Cottage is ideally situated to explore the whole of the Peak District and is within easy reach of Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Bakewell and Matlock. Free wifi. Pets are welcome by prior arrangement (maximum of two small to medium sized dogs).

About Phillip & Susan Walker

We are Phillip and Susan Walker and have been walking in the Peak District for many years. In 2004 we were fortunate to be able to buy Overdale Cottage in our favourite village of Youlgrave (or Youlgreave as it is sometimes spelt).

We look after the cottage ourselves and we stay there as often as we can so we can be sure all is in order for our guests.

In 2008 we extended the cottage by converting a stone outhouse into the kitchen and creating a roof terrace on top which has fantastic views over the River Bradford and Bradford Dale.

Why Phillip & Susan Walker chose Youlgreave

Youlgrave is one of the loveliest villages in the Peak District. There are numerous walks straight from the cottage door from a short stroll to walks of several miles. The village has three pubs, a bakery, butcher's shop/delicatessen and a Post Office/general store all within easy walking distance, there is also a good local bus service.
