Cyclists and walkers can also enjoy the nearby Tarka Trail which runs along a disused railway line. About the Owner

My husband and I live in rural Devon with our pet dogs and chickens. We moved here in 2013 as an 'escape to the country'. We love the beautiful English countryside, the seclusion and the friendly locals. After holidaying in Devon for many years, this was our favourite area and where we chose to settle.

Amazing property in secluded location

  • 5 of 5

Amazing property in secluded location we have had a great 4 nights stay here, treehouse, beehives, 5 acres and a swinging bench to take all off the views in, what more could you ask for, Lynda greeted us with a afternoon tea which was perfect, our two young girls enjoyed running around in the woods with secret passageways and the fields chasing each other around and playing on the tree rope swing, our dogs favourite part was chicken chasing but not too often, the accommodation itself has everything you need and the bedrooms are large and everything you need in the kitchen, Lynda and David have thought of everything, thank you for a perfect holiday setting xx Megan,Dean,Phoebe & Erin Cox and Barney Dog

Beautiful cottage and grounds for a really relaxing break

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is beautiful - huge bedrooms, lovely lounge with a log burner and plentiful supply of wood. Cottage is remote, although only about 5 minutes drive from Torrington and 20 minutes to Bideford and Instow, but this means it is really quiet, apart from the occasional horse walking down the lane.

The grounds are huge and plenty of room for the dogs to run, especially when the owners dogs and the little dog from over the road came to play, easy to exercise 6 dogs in a safe and open meadow.

We will definitely come back, loved the area, and loved the cottage. Thanks Lynda

Beautiful hidden cottage in heart of North Devon countryside

  • 4 of 5

Lovely 2 bed roomed self catering annexe

Well equipped and beautifully clean, Lynda and David lovely hosts made to feel very welcome

On arrival all guests are greeted with homemade scones, jam, cream and tea/coffee.

We didn't realise just how far from coast the cottage was, but really enjoyed exploring the local area, very close to the Tarka Trail and Rosemoor RHS gardens. We hired bikes and cycled 24 miles along canal banks, river banks and salt flats watching various sea and inland birds. With the hope of spotting an otter but sadly we did not see one!!

We had a lovely relaxing break away from hustle and bustle of daily life thank you Lynda and David

Only one same mown the too,et does not flush very well and sometimes needs several goes **** to clear

Get away from it all

  • 5 of 5

Just a repeat of all the previous reviews really ... wonderful cottage that lives long in the memory after you've gone !

Memories now, of nearly a month ago are:

Friendly and quiet, funny chickens, great views, friendly dogs, narrow lanes, fantastic beaches where you can park (unlike most places in Cornwall!), killer hills of 20+% (I took my bicycle - so if you do, and are a fat 60's MAMIL - recce the route before you go!), great pub locally with good food and amazing Gin selection !, very comfy bed upstairs (slept like a log).

I used Google Maps navigation - and yes, "she" likes a direct route through the narrowest of lanes - but it was fun and challenging (and thats a good thing on holiday !!)

Everything you need for a bit of downtime - we loved it (just the 2 of us grandparents) !

Thank you so much !

Hope to see you again

A HIDDEN GEM IN A LOVELY SETTING!

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a lovely 6 night stay in this cottage with our 2 sons. The cottage has so much to offer especially if you have children, there is a large playing field where my sons loved to play football (even with a football net provided by Lynda the owner, the boys were really impressed with this ...Thank you!) , a large treehouse, campfire area, beehive, and some lovely meadows as well as your own garden with patio chair and table. The cottage is clean and well maintained and evident that a lot of pride goes into it. The bed sheets smelt wonderful and fresh on arrival and the downstairs bed with the tempur mattress is so comfy! Even though you share this cottage with the owners you have so much privacy and would hardly know they were there but always friendly and happy to chat and answer any questions that you may have. The cottage is set in a very rural location yet is very close to everything North Devon has to offer , only a short 20 minute drive to Barnstaple where you can stock up on any essentials , although we had a Tesco shop delivery! We visited Woolacombe beach, Saunton Sands, Croyde Bay, Ilfracombe, Westward Ho!, Instow beach , all within easy reach of this cottage and it was lovely to retire to the rural setting each evening . We were woken up one morning by a farmer just to let us know his sheep were passing through and another day by a horse trotting by, was great to escape City Life! The boys loved the 'Downton Abbey' bell at the front door . ..Some of our friends have already booked the cottage for this year after seeing our photos! ... .Thank you we will be back . John, Joanne, Sam, Liam & Buster
