An 18thcent Country Manor House Situated In An Extensive Country Estate near Vidreres, (Costa Brava) -The Village is only a 10 Min. drive.

Dating back to the 18th century, the lovely old country house of Can Tarre, is situated in the beautiful province of Girona within the region of "La Selva" (known as the land of castles and water!). It has been lovingly restored, and tastefully decorated, to create a very spacious and comfortable home for friends or families to enjoy a totally different, and truly relaxing holiday, in idyllic surroundings. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the sunny terrace by the pool, or an 'al fresco' candlelight dinner under the shady porch with delicious, char-grilled meat, fish or vegetables cooked on the brick-built BBQ or crispy bread or pizzas done to perfection in the adjacent, wood fired pizza oven! The house, and it's charming, stone built annexe, stand in their own informal, but well- kept, gardens with panoramic views across the countryside and the delicate fragrance from aromatic herbs, lavender, roses and magnolias. All the beauties of nature are on your doorstep, and when strolling , or cycling in the surrounding woods and countryside , apart from the wide variety of trees, bushes and wild flowers, do keep your eyes and ears open to see and hear the many small animals and birds that make this fertile region their home! Whether you want to eat out, or want to re-stock the larder for your country style meals, the village of Vidreres is only a 10 mins drive away and where you will find bars, restaurants, shops, banks etc and an excellent weekly market every Thursday to stock up on the fresh produce of the area. However Vidreres is also particularly well known for it's excellent restaurants, so you can also treat yourself to some local 'menus of the day' at amazing prices, and with wine included....! With numerous golf courses in the area and easy access to so many fascinating places : the beautiful beaches of the Costa Brava , the ruins of Empuries, the fascinating, world famous museum of Salvador Dali in Figueres, or the delightful cities of Gerona and cosmopolitan Barcelona: your holiday can be as active or as relaxing as you want it to be!

Highly recommended immaculate villa

-Great, modern and clean facilities in a secluded, beautiful location

- Rosa (Owner) was great also - v helpful and friendly -

- nice small pool and jacuzzi. Would benefit from a larger pool

Our only problem was with the external lights that hindered eating out at night but otherwise, we had a wonderful stay

Further Details:

In the villages the small shops and businesses generally open from 09.30 - 13.00 and from 17.00 - 20.00 and the Supermarkets from 09.30 - 20.00.

Banks open Monday - Friday from 08.30 - 14.00 (but with 24 hr cash machines) they're not open on a Saturday

Post office opens from 08.30 - 14.00. Sat 09.30 - 13.00.

Nearest facilities:

Vidreres: Shops are closed on a Sunday. Weekly market on a Thurs. Known as the Gastronomic Village for it's wide selection of restaurants!

Maçanet: Shops in the centre of the village are opened on a Sunday but closed on a Monday. Weekly market on a Wed.

Markets:

There are weekly markets in every town and village offering everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to shoes, clothes and livestock!

Restaurants:

There are excellent, well priced, restaurants throughout this region offering a lunch-time 'menu of the day' which includes 3 courses with bread and wine!

(Most of the farmhouse restaurants "Masias"open for lunchtime 13.00 - 16.00 but only open at night at the week-ends or for "fiestas".)

Activities:

The area around the house is a paradise for walkers and nature lovers, and for the younger members of the family, there are numerous activities in the area that will suit all tastes and ages: eg. Water-Parks, Karting, Horse riding and even Ballooning! The more adventurous 'traveller' can take to the skies in a hot air balloon with the 'launch pad' only a 10 mins. drive from the property.

The beaches and resorts of the Costa Brava also offer a wide range of activities from late night bars and discos to snorkelling, diving, para-sailing and coastal cruises.

Security Deposit: On arrival you'll be required to leave a security deposit of 500 euros (or £500) This will be returned on departure after property check.
Changeover Day:
The arrival day is flexible throughout the year except between 15/06-15/09 when the preferred arrival day is Saturday, however, please check with us and we will do our best to accommodate you whenever possible.

  • Notes on accommodation: Can Tarre is available throughout the year with central heating and the cosy glow from the log burning chimney in the living room for the winter months. The 4 comfortable bedrooms in the main house,have their own en-suite shower room and are reached by an impressive, sweeping staircase from the main entrance. El Paller- the charming stone built annexe has a large, ground floor lounge with table and chairs and comfortable sofas to read, play games or chill out watching TV or listening to soft music! (TV, CD/DVD, Board games, toys and books are available) The first floor, spacious, bedroom with its en-suite shower room, has a king size bed and comfy armchairs from where you can relax and enjoy the peaceful views across the countryside through the wall to wall windows. *It's possible here to accommodate up to an additional 3 beds for families.* Cooking facilities for El Paller are either within the main house or using the exterior facilities (BBQ,wood oven, 2 ring hob and fridge) Outside: Standing in an extensive private ,country estate of almost 80 acres, Can Tarre is a paradise for walkers and nature lovers. Set under a wooden beamed porch, the counter-current pool and jacuzzi, enclosed by floor to ceiling glass panels and heated in the cooler months, will give you a truly wonderful sensation of peace and relaxation during summer days or candlelit nights! The informal garden is planted with aromatic herbs and flowers and is complemented by paved terraced areas with colorful pot plants. There is a children's play area, a covered porch with stone built BBQ, sink, 2 ring gas hob, wood burning oven and fridge and with all facilities for your al fresco meals. There are numerous activities in the immediate area that will suit all tastes and ages: eg. Water-Parks, Karting, Horse riding and even Ballooning!
