Overview

About the property

Cottage in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, Wales - Central Location, Less Than 5 Minutes' Walk To Nearest Beach And Golf Links

China Cottage is a much-photographed, unique property in an amazing location. You'll find this pretty cottage - situated down a quaint lane just off Tenby's town square - a perfect base for exploring Tenby and its many attractions. It suits families and extended families, with plenty of room for one or two extra cots. We've owned it for 15 years, and restored it lovingly when we can between our many returning visitors. China Cottage is popular all year round, as Tenby is not just a summer location, but is great for long weekends and winter walks. The cottage is spacious, bright and airy in the summer months; and with its stove fireplace and deep leather sofas it is also cosy and characterful in the winter. It couldn't be more central to the shops and café bars. The master bedroom has a 'hidden' roll top bath where you can soak by candlelight. No-smoking throughout.

If you like the sound of this property, you may also like our others - No4 Queens Parade (sleeps 7 & infant, garden & permit parking) ref 8162357; No1 Albert View (sleeps 4 & infant) ref 8165786; & No2 Albert View (sleeps 6 & infant) ref 1820417 - all in or around the town centre and every one close to the beach. Subject to availability, No1 & 2 Albert View can be let together to form a whole town-house accommodation for family and extended family of 10.

About Julie Jones, owner of TENBY TOWN COTTAGES

Tenby Town Cottages is a family-run business with over 15 years' experience of letting our own houses & cottages in Tenby. We also own popular foodie-pubs in Tenby, and a little gift/bookshop, so showing Tenby and its gorgeous offerings at their very best are at the heart of what we do. We love Tenby, and make it our business to make sure you will too.

We try and respond to every booking enquiry within 24 hours, but because of our numerous other business commitments it is not always possible to do so. If you have not heard from us directly (as opposed to an automated response from Owners Direct) within 24 hours, please feel free to follow up your enquiry with a text or phone call. Your holiday is important to us.

Julie Jones, owner of TENBY TOWN COTTAGES purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Julie Jones, owner of TENBY TOWN COTTAGES chose Pembroke, Tenby, Saundersfoot & The South Coast

When China Cottage became available to buy, it was so quaint and central, that we acquired it in order to build up our little property portfolio. Given its age (approx 250 years) and thick original walls, it's taken some time to 'modernise, but it has a lovely spacious yet cosy feel to it and couldn't be more convenient for the town and beaches. Our other properties are No 4 Queens Parade (our first family home; a big, stylish, terraced town house with views of Caldey Island and Tenby Golf Links); and No 1 Albert View (a cool compact apartment next to a foodie pub and less than a minute from the Harbour and Castle Beach). No 2 Albert View is our latest addition and is our most modern & stylish property to date.

What makes this cottage unique

All our properties are inside the historic Tenby town walls, or within minutes walk of them. Leave the car and spend your days on the beaches, going on fishing trips, doing water-sports, exploring Caldey Island or the old town; or use our properties as a base for visiting the huge number of attractions that Pembrokeshire has to offer

"Loved the fact that when we arrived on a wet Saturday afternoon the fire was on, there was milk in the fridge, tea & coffee. What a great welcome and very thoughtful." Mr Dalton

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: This is a lovely family cottage; plenty of space, especially upstairs. It is so central, family members can just come and go as they please - popping to town shops or beaches within minutes. You won't need the car all week! Tenby can offer Coast Path walks, fishing trips, boat-trips to the exquisite and magical Caldey Island, water-sports, all starting 5 minutes from your front door. If you do like to explore your wider surroundings, Pembrokeshire has Folly Farm, Heatherton World of Activity (a great day out for families), the tranquil Manor House Wildlife Park (aka Anna's Welsh zoo), Oakwood Theme Park and Bluestone Resort and Blue Lagoon swimming centre. Don't forget beach horse-riding at Marros or Nolton Haven. Laugharne (spiritual home of Dylan Thomas) is only 20 minutes away too. Outside: Being in the heart of the town centre, China Cottage cannot offer a garden, but if you turn left out of the front door you will find Harbour and Castle beach within 5 minutes' walk, and if you turn right you will be on South beach within minutes. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen is provided; towels available on request. Other: Cosy dining area between the kitchen and living room.

We had a wonderful stay in the really lovely house. Everything was just perfect. The whole house is so lovely furnished and decorated. It has a lot of space to bee and in every room you just feel good.

To the beach and to the city its a so short walk, you dont need the car!

When we need some information or we dont know about something, Julie was very kind to help us. We hope, we can come back some time.

Long weekend February

  • 5 of 5

Chose China Cottage for a long weekend break in February and we were more than pleased, in fact we didn't want to leave. The property is ideally situated in the center of town so there is no need for a car, everything is right there. China Cottage is very spacious and comfortable, it suited the 7 of us perfectly. All in all we had a fab time and would definitely consider it again in the future. Highly recommended!!

Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

Less than 5 minutes' walk to Harbour, South, Castle, and North beaches. 20-min boat trip to Caldey Island. Harbour Beach was voted best beach in Europe in 2014. Simple car journey to Barafundle Bay, Freshwater East, or Freshwater West (great surf), Manorbier (good for dogs & surf), Swan Lake, or even Blue Lagoon (cliff-diving) in the north of the County.

Travel:

Use of car is recommended but not essential. Tenby Railway Station is an easy 10 min walk.

Distances:

The lovely independent shops in Narberth are 20 minutes away by car. Carmarthen town and Haverfordwest town are each 35 minutes away and have the nearest cinemas and big brand shops. The stunning castle at Pembroke is just 20 minutes away, as is Laugharne and Dylan Thomas' boat-house. Caldey Island by boat is a must-do trip when staying in Tenby.

Further Details:

All the local shops and supermarkets are literally around the corner. We can recommend some great pubs and restaurants, and a list will be available at the property. Tenby serves as a great base for exploring the area - Folly Farm, Manor House Wildlife Park (aka Anna's Welsh Zoo), Heatherton Country Park (a huge day out with lots of family activities), Bluestone Resort, and Blue Lagoon water park, Oakwood Theme Park, and the whole of the Pembrokeshire Coast are yours for the taking.
