It is stylishly furnished with contemporary and homely finishing touches. Set apart from the Owners' home, which once belonged to the Wheal Damsel mine captain, detached Up along Lodge stands in an historic mining heritage area just outside Carharrack, surrounded by cycle trails and footpaths. The cosy living-room has a wood-burner, and opens onto to the terrace where you can enjoy the lovely countryside views whilst relaxing in the hot tub. There is also a patio area with outdoor table and seating where you can enjoy a barbecue. A path leads to the the Owners' own solar-heated outdoor swimming pool (variable depth) which is available between May and September for you to share. This World Heritage Site is a fascinating area to explore and the hills and valleys are covered with a network of footpaths and cycle trails leading to many of the iconic mining engine houses and sites of industrial archaeological interest. UPALONG LODGE

  • 5 of 5

After an initial difficulty finding the Lodge ( look for Downalong Lodge and go 20 yards up the lane) our party of 6 were delighted to find Upalong Lodge was in a beautiful location with spectacular view over the Cornish country side,

The Lodge was very clean and had a modern new feel with everything we needed within, the Hot Tub was used immediately and was enjoyed immensely, the owner ensured the Hot Tun was maintained on a daily basis.

We found the location very useful for journeys out to the coast and the little walk into the village store to restock food and to fetch the Chinese take away ideal. We would have no hesitation in recommending Upalong Lodge for a holiday break as a premises this clean.fully kitted out and modern is hard to beat.

Lovely cottage, beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely amazing setting with beautiful views from the lodge and especially the hot tub. The lodge itself was perfect, a home away from home with everything provided that you could need. The welcome pack which included scones freshly baked by the owner was a lovely surprise. Caroline was so helpful and accommodating; she directed us to a beautiful quarry just a short walk from the property which proved to be a lovely fishing retreat. Will definitely return and would recommend to family and friends.

Superb base to explore cornwall.

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay at Upalong. The property is well equipped and definitely has the wow factor. Our daughter loved the alpacas and we spent a lot of family time chilling in the hot tub. Thank you Caroline for looking after us so well p.s (The scones were beautiful) :-)

Easter break success

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at the lodge the week after Easter (2015) for a week’s stay. It was clearly new and yet very comfortable and well equipped - we were unable to think of anything we needed that was not provided.

The view from the lodge was great - you could see why the lodge’s picture windows were chosen. Being inland it was quiet and restful yet the position in Carharrack meant that we never drove more than 20 miles oneway for our day trips to enjoy St Agnes, St Ives, Truro and the beach at Portreath. There was plenty to do and we left with plenty of reasons to come back.

My wife and I arrived with our two kids (under 10) and their uncle and aunt. The sleeping arrangements were fine for our group of 6. The two Alpacas were a great novelty for the kids - as was the well serviced hot tub. All in all a great week away, blessed with good weather, and we are hoping to come back.

Location

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

Porthtowan, an internationally renowned surfing beach is only 15 mins away. Other magnificent surfing beaches include Portreath, Perranporth and the Newquay beaches, all within half an hour's drive.

You can pick up the Bissoe cycle trail a mile or so from the Lodge and cycle safely to the north coast at Portreath or the south coast at Devoran.

Travel:

Newquay airport is 25 miles away with flights to London/Gatwick, Manchester all through the year and

Dublin, London Stansted, Dusseldorf, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Newcastle and Birmingham in the summer season.

Distances:

We are centrally located in Cornwall and most places of interest and visitor attractions are within half an hour of travelling.Falmouth 8 miles, Truro 8 miles, The Eden Project 30 miles, St Ives 22 miles, Landsend 30 miles, Padstow 32 miles.

Further Details:

We are on the edge of the village of Carharrack which has a small shop, a very good Chinese takeaway and a local pub. There are many renowned restaurants in Falmouth as well as in the coastal villages which we would be happy to advise on. Reduth has supermarkets and a full range of shops and banks and other facilities. For a shopping experience with more variety head to Falmouth or Truro. There are many arts and music festivals over the summer months and it is worth checking to see which events coincide with your visit.
