About this property

Waterside Cottage Adjacent to Frogmore Creek, Part Of The Salcombe Estuary

Forget-me-not-cottage is a charming cottage set right on the side of Frogmore Creek. The long enclosed south facing cottage garden backs onto the Creek giving beautiful views of the Estuary and its abundant wildlife and rolling hillside beyond. The Summerhouse, overlooking the Creek, is a wonderful place to relax and unwind. Frogmore is situated on the East side of the Salcombe/Kingsbridge Estuary, close to the fabulous golden beaches of Salcombe and East Portlemouth and just a five-minute drive from the pretty waterside town of Kingsbridge with its many shops, pubs and restaurants. Historic Dartmouth is just a short drive in the opposite direction, along what must be one of the most spectacular coastal routes in the country. Frogmore has its own bakery, which sells freshly baked bread and croissants! It also has a post office and dining pub all just a couple of minutes walk from the cottage door.

The COTTAGE is very well presented, stylishly furnished and well equipped, particularly for young families.

KITCHEN/DINING ROOM/SITTING ROOM/SUMMER HOUSE

Luxury fitted cottage KITCHEN with solid wood worktops. The smart appliances include a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, oven and hob. The DINING AREA has a large table and four high backed chairs. The very comfortable bright south facing SITTING ROOM has a wood burner, two double sofas, flat screen TV, Blu-Ray DVD, coffee table (trunk) and of course BT Wireless Broadband. A walk down the lovely garden, stocked with beautiful flowers, takes you to the SUMMER HOUSE with fabulous south facing views across Frogmore Creek. Furnished in a smart beach house style, easily doubling as a second sitting room with two sofas and two easy chairs able to accommodate eight people. The Summer House opens onto a large deck area, equipped with table and chairs and parasol, which certainly give you one of the best ways to fully appreciate the beauty of Frogmore Creek.
This is fabulous place to relax, have lunch/dinner and an early evening sundowner where you can watch the local fishermen going about their business or watch the children playing, crabbing or kayaking in the creek (please contact the owner if you would like to use their kayaks which are kept at the bottom of the garden - one of the best ways to fully appreciate the Creek). Steps take you down to the Creek and part way down is a bench also ideal for “Creek watching”.
An added bonus is that this is also a great place to chill out in the winter with an oil radiator heater. Full electrics with lamps and tallboy drawers fully stocked with games and puzzles and many books for all ages.

Great location for exploring the local area. Loved having the creek at the bottom of the garden, good for kayaking & paddle boarding if you get the tide right.

Lovely weeks stay
Lovely cottage in a great location. The summer house at the end of the garden is a great place to sit with a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine looking at the views. Ideally located for long or short walks and many tourist places with 45 mins. Local pub over the road offers great food for an easy evening out. Would recommend to a couple or small family for a lovely week.

Good location for exploring the beautiful Devon coast
Cosy and comfy cottage with nice views of the creek from the lovely garden. Well equipped kitchen and very comfortable beds. Summer house good with books and games for the kids. Didn't get the tides so didn't manage to use the kayaks unfortunately. Great location for visiting Dartmouth, Salcombe and surrounding areas. Fantastic beaches and coastal walks nearby. I didn't do my research properly and the road was much busier and noisier than expected but this didn't spoil the stay. Good communication from the owners.

Lovely and cosy cottage with a summer house!
It was a lovely cottage, and exceeded my expectation, definitely recommend it. The scones were a lovely surprise when we first arrived! Will definitely return in summer to make the most of the view of the garden and river.

Fantastic location
Cosy cottage with direct access to Frogmore Creek. Great for kayaking and beautiful walks. The property benefits from a large summerhouse overlooking the creek - a place to while away the hours. Overall a most relaxing holiday destination.

We are a family of five with three young children. We spend virtually every holiday, half term and some weekends at our holiday cottage on the opposite side of the Salcombe Estuary from Forget Me Not Cottage. In our opinion it is one of the most beautiful areas in the country and we hope that you will like it as much as we do. We bought this cottage after we had missed out on the purchase some 9 years ago and we certainly were not going let it pass this time. We anticipate that we will also enjoy the cottage and beautiful creekside location out of season whenever the cottage is not let.

Why they chose this property

We almost bought Forget Me Not Cottage 12 years ago but were pipped at the post by the family we just bought it from. We fell in love with it right from the first minute. The views from the south facing garden and summerhouse are really memorable looking over Frogmore Creek across to beautiful fields and rolling hills. Not only that, the direct access to the water from the garden is a huge plus factor and effectively makes the Estuary part of your back garden. Frogmore lies between Salcombe and Dartmouth and some of the best beaches in the South Hams are just a short drive away, or a good paddle/sail along the Estuary!! Salcombe and Kingsbridge, with many fashionable restaurants and pubs are also "just round the corner". When the property came up for sale we snapped it up immediately.

What makes this property unique

The best thing about Forget Me Not Cottage is the fact that you can happily spend a day or two just hanging out in and around the summerhouse and the tidal Creek. Mess around in boats or watch the kids play in their kayaks while you enjoy a glass of wine or two relaxing on the deck. A special treat is to watch the tide come in with returning local fishing boats. The bird life is something to behold both with the tide in or out.
Some of the best beaches in the country, such as the fabulous golden sands of East Portlemouth are just a short drive from the cottage. For walkers, head out from the front door for long walks along the Creek or drive to Gara Rock and join the coastal path. Finally, the heated summerhouse, even in winter, is still a great place to just chill out.
