Secluded static caravan in stunning setting within fishery and farm - dogs welcome - sleeps 4. Beautiful views across private lake and secluded valley.

A delightful static caravan set in the heart of rural Devon and as one guest tells us "the view from the window is my screensaver." Bellbrook Caravan, which is located within the grounds of Bellbrook Trout Fishery, overlooks one of our seven lakes and is a haven of peace and tranquillity. It is the perfect place to soothe the soul or escape for a romantic break. There is an additional accommodation option (E13397) so check that out too :) A holiday at Bellbrook is ideal if you want to relax, enjoy a picnic by the lake, listen to the water or watch the local wildlife which includes deer, badgers, foxes, herons and kingfishers. Bellbrook is also an ideal base for walking, riding, cycling or trying your hand at fly fishing - we can show you how; tickets start at just £20 and we have a beginners' lake which is also catch and release.

We have upgraded the caravan this year (2018). It is comfortably furnished and has a large open plan kitchen, dining and sitting room area. There is one double bedroom, a twin bedroom and an additional pull out sofa bed in the lounge. There is a separate bathroom and the kitchen features full sized fridge, oven and 4 ring gas hob. The caravan benefits from a gas fire and electric heating. As the property is so remote we do warn visitors that there is no TV due to a lack of reception and no WiFi - you'll have to talk to each other! We do however provide a TV with DVD player so you can catch up on those box sets! The mobile phone reception however is very good. The caravan also benefits from a decking area with table, chairs and BBQ (available on request) as well as a large boot room for the keen walkers and fishermen!

We look forward to welcoming you and will ensure your stay gets off to a get good start – complimentary tea, coffee and milk are provided and the kitchen is stocked with washing up liquid etc. We are also very pet friendly and are more than happy to accommodate your four legged friends (this includes horses as well as dogs!).

Positioned just 10 meters from Ottmoor lake it couldn't be anymore rural and remote although the Fishery, covering 40 acres, is easily accessed from the A361 - the M5 is only 15 minutes away. The caravan itself is accessed down a private track so the only nosies you'll hear will be those of nature! The local villages of Oakford and Bampton have welcoming pubs with local ales and good food. Local shops and supermarkets can be found in Tiverton which is 10 minutes drive – there is also a regular pannier market with tempting local produce. We are close to the historic market town of Dulverton which is known as the gateway to Exmoor National Park and is a must for the cream teas!

About Chris Atwell

Chris is the owner of the property which consists of a Farmhouse, two holiday rental properties and a trout fishery and is helped by his wife Ellen and baby Mabel. We enjoy the peaceful surroundings we live in and consider ourselves very privileged to live here. We live with 2 horses, 3 dogs, 6 chickens, 2 pygmy goats and 7 Welsh Mountain sheep including Rupert the Ram.

We bought the fishery as we love the quiet location and the convenience to get to the rest of the West Country from here. The valley is rich with wild life and everyday you can see Exmoor Red Deer, Badgers, Foxes, Buzzards, Heron, Kingfishers and every songbird you can imagine. And yet if you want to get to the coast the beach is only 45 mins drive or if its a walk on Exmoor that's 20mins. If you are craving the city life Exeter and Taunton are 40 mins and Bristol just 75 mins.

What makes this caravan unique

The main benefit of staying at Bellbrook is the Trout Fishery on site where the novice can try a taster session.. Please visit our website for full details but if you are an experienced fly fisher or fancy learning then we have all the facilities you will need including tuition and equipment hire. In addition to the fishing we have beautiful walks and cosy pubs all on our doorstep. The accommodation is located on one floor and is easy to access by those less steady on their feet.

Notes on accommodation: We do like to stress how remote and rural this property is - it is not part of a caravan park. We think that's great but we realise that doesn't suit everyone. If you are not sure please give us a ring and have a chat. Outside: The caravan is situated 10 meters from Ottmoor Lake which is in a beautiful setting and often deer wander past - its quite a view from the window. As well as the covered porch for your outdoor gear there is a sun deck with outside table and chairs. In addition visitors to the property have access to the extensive grounds (40 acres) around the lakes and there are several other areas for picnics and BBQs with outdoor furniture. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The caravan comes complete with all bedding, towels, tea towels etc. Other: On the outside of the entrance we have built a really useful undercover porch that is a useful storage area for muddy boots, hats and coats etc which helps keep the inside of the caravan less cluttered.

Devon Countryside at its Best

The caravan was clean and perfectly functional, Our host Chris is a lovely chap and spends his time tending the fishery and his various animals. It seems that other interests include sheep wrestling and chasing his horses across the valley in an attempt to recapture escapees.

All jokes aside you could'nt wish for a nicer host, always available to help, we will be back.

Secluded and really great value !!

Lovely secluded spot. Our children really loved it. There's fishing available (ask the owners) and the lakes are well stocked with large rainbow trout. It was great to have the wood burner (some fuel was also supplied) as we love a real fire. It may be basic, but it was clean and just the getaway we needed. The barbecue came in handy and we left feeling recharged and rested! Chris was friendly on arrival and we saw Ellen as we were leaving. Apart from that we just saw a couple of fishermen and that was it. We enjoyed the peace and tranquility and would recommend it for that! Thanks Chris & Ellen !

Quirky accommodation in a tranquil setting

The caravan is old but it is clean, maintained. and well equipped. The lounge and dining area is spacious and although small, the bed is comfy with good quality bedding. The porch area is ideal for storing your wellies and keeping your beer cool. The position of this accommodation is lovely for total peace and relaxation, it was so nice not to have to pull the curtains at night because there is just no one around. Chris the owner was helpful and welcomed us with a pint of milk, some free range eggs and a loaf of homemade bread, how nice is that ? This may be not be suitable for some people,, it is not plush and has been priced to reflect that but there was no rowdy drunks or children or nearby shops, it was exactly what we wanted. There is no television signal but we did not miss it, we watched dvds, listened to music on our phones and played cards. We spent hours looking out the window which overlooks a fishing lake and wood. At night you can sit out on the decking and gaze at the hundreds of stars which can be seen as there is no light pollution. Ideal location for visiting the delights of Exmoor

A great tech detox!

The caravan is situated in an idyllic spot 2 miles from the A361, which you would never find without directions (supplied, obviously!), it looks out over a large lake surrounded by woodland and is thus very quiet and peaceful. The only sounds that you tend to hear are some very vocal nearby sheep, the odd owl in the evening, and birds in general, which we found very pleasing. On our final morning we had a visit from a curious stag, which was lovely to see.

The caravan itself is very comfortable for up to two people, although there is room to sleep for visitors, if required, and in fact this was the best week's sleep that I have had in years, partly due to all the exploring but certainly due to the restful environment.

There is no wifi in the caravan, and the TV is DVD viewing only, but you do get excellent mobile signal, despite the remote location (Vodafone, and 3 worked perfectly so you won't be totally cut off!). We found it refreshing to get away from all the screens for a few days and just sit out on the deck and read, knit and listen to the widlife. The caravan is sited on an impressive fishery, and if fishing is your thing then you will love it here, Chris the owner even offers tuition for beginners.

If you want to get away from it all (but not too much) I would recommend this no frills,but good value site.

Situated in the middle of Devon there is access to numerous surfing beaches - North Devon (Saunton and Croyde) 55mins. South Devon (Bantham, Bigbury on Sea) 1 hour 20 mins.

We are also only 30 minutes away from Wimbleball which offers sailing and canoeing.

Special interest holidays:

The property is part of a well known Trout Fishing complex in Devon. Set in 40 acres with 7 lakes plus its own fish farm the fishery attracts visitors all year round. We have all the facilities needed for those more experienced fly fishers or beginners with various introduction packages, tuition and equipment hire. The lakes are stocked with Rainbow Trout with 5 lakes being stocked with "normals" which weigh approx 2lbs + and 1 lake stocked with "specimen" fish which weigh in at 4 - 15lbs!


Bristol Airport is 1 hour 15 mins

Exeter Airport is 40 mins

Tiverton Parkway Train Station is 15 mins away

A car is needed.


Tiverton is the nearest well known town and is 8 miles away. The very characterful market towns of Bampton (5.5 miles) and South Molton (14 miles) are both worth a visit while the tea rooms in Dulverton (6 miles) are essential. We are also blessed with some wonderful country pubs that serve excellent food - too many to mention but starting at 2 miles away.

Further Details:

As well as all the nature and fresh air we provide on site, we are located in what is known as the Exmoor fringe. Many people visit the area to walk the moor and take in the views - it is still a truly wild area. It is also well known for star gazing and Exmoor National Park was recently designated the first International Dark Sky Reserve in Europe.
