Pleasant cottage

  • 3 of 5

The cottage was in a good location for walking, and driving around the western lakes. It is a good sized cottage and very cosy, it does however need a lot of re decorating, and most of all a good clean especially in the bathroom and kitchen, also the cobwebs old and new did not make for a restful nights sleep!!

The Coach House Millom

  • 3 of 5

Very much enjoyed staying here on the edge of Morcambe Bay. Only two major problems: 1) Hot water pressure was extremely low, very difficult to take a shower. 2) the lighting in the kitchen/ dining area was very inadequate.

Perfect location, rural & coastal. Cottage was quaint & comfortable. Would recommend.

The cottage was lovely, quaint, cosy & homely with adequate outside space & enough parking for 2 cars. It's location a few meters from the sea was ideal & the nearby beach was lovely. It had everything we needed, including cooking utensils (although the smoke alarm was very sensitive & we set it off a couple of times making breakfast, lol) would definitely stay again.

Accommodation as expected, quiet location. Good beaches.

  • 3 of 5

Accommodation as advertised, low ceilings in the bedrooms as you would expect in a property of this type. The kitchen was well equipped for our needs. The premises were clean and tidy. The main issue for us was that the bathroom is located in a corner of the lounge, with an internal window behind the T.V. As our party consisted of two couples this lead to some privacy issues. I feel because of this the accommodation would be more suited to a family with young children or a couple.

The location was good, close to the beaches and 15 minutes level walk from the nearest shop and pub. Millom is also within easy level walking distance.

Comfortable and well equipped. Caretakers kindly supplied towels (which we hadn't noticed weren't included). Great location for exploring the Lake District

Wildlife

Hodbarrow’s wildlife rich coastal lagoon is the largest stretch of coastal open water in north-west England. Part of the lagoon is owned by the RSPB and several pathways take you through different habitats leading to the hide. From here, you can watch Cumbria’s only breeding sandwich tern colony. The reserve also attracts little terns, warblers, great crested grebes, red breasted mergansers and wildfowl such as wigeons. The large number of birds also attracts the attention of local birds of prey, including the peregrine falcon. From the sea wall, you may also be lucky enough to spot seals and porpoises playing in Haverigg’s picturesque harbour.
