About the Owner

We have spent many enjoyable holidays at our bungalow in Cornwall, especially now that retirement gives us more time. Our three grown up daughters and their families have happy memories of their stays in the bungalow and always look forward to visiting.

We usually stay out of the main season when the park is quiet. Our families visit in the school holidays when there is a fuller programme of activities in operation.

Over the years we have got to know the area well. In particular, we enjoy walking on the coast path with its spectacular scenery and stunning views.

On our visits we make sure that the bungalow is well maintained, clean and comfortable.

It is important to us that our guests enjoy our bungalow as much as we do.

Bungalow very clean and in a lovely position on the park.

  • 4 of 5

Bungalow well equipped and the beds were very comfortable, only thing missing was a non slip shower mat and a bath mat as the floor was very slippery when wet and a new lock for the bathroom door. Very good position for touring around cornwall. Would definitely book again if I make a return visit.

Excellent family holiday!

  • 5 of 5

The bungalow was spotlessly clean on arrival and had all the site amenities for a very enjoyable stay. Very comfortable beds too. The kids loved the swimming pool and children's activity timetable. Situated well to explore anywhere from st. Ives to Bude. The owner David was extremely helpful and quick to respond to any queries. I would not hesitate to stay again-thanks for a great holiday!

Location

From the Owner

We have always enjoyed holidays in Cornwall with its distinctive, rugged coastline, its sandy beaches and its legends and history. From the moment we drove up the long, woodland approach to Hengar Manor Country Park, we knew that this would be an ideal place to buy a holiday bungalow. We would have somewhere of our own to stay that would be a perfect location from which we could discover more of Cornwall. In addition, we wanted a place where our daughters and their families could stay for a holiday. The bungalow is suitable accommodation for them to use the Country Park facilities and be within easy reach of the coast and other places of interest.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

The Camel Trail extends for 11 miles beside the River Camel, linking the towns of Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow. An extension follows the river towards Camelford. Bicycles can be hired at many places along the trail.

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beach is at Trebarwith Strand which is 8 miles away. There are rugged cliffs, lots of rock pools and extensive sandy areas. Watch the tide rush in as it floods the sandcastle moats. There are beach cafes and a few little shops. The Port William inn provides good food which can be enjoyed whilst admiring the spectacular view of the bay.

Travel:

The Bungalow is a great base, but a car is essential for visiting places. It is located at Hengar Manor, St Tudy, between Camelford which is 5 miles away and Bodmin which is 7 miles away.

Further Details:

There is magic and mystery in this part of Cornwall. Following in King Arthur's footsteps is a powerful reminder of a past age. Camelford is the legendary site of Camelot. A beautiful market town with free parking for local shops, pubs, park and Tourist Information Centre.

Tintagel is the legendary birthplace and stronghold of Arthur. Visit Tintagel Island and the castle ruins. There are several pubs, cafes and gift shops along the main street. Enjoy a Cornish pasty and maybe a visit to The Old Post Office.

Slaughterbridge, 10 minutes by car from Tintagel, is the site of the 6th Century 'King Arthurs Stone' marking the site of Arthur and Mordred's last battle of Camlann.

The Bungalow is situated on the edge of Bodmin Moor which offers a variety of interests. Climb to the top of Roughtor with its views of the North and South coasts. Visit 'Jamaica Inn' made famous by Daphne du Maurier and see wild ponies roaming freely.

The Eden Project is about half an hours drive away. The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Lanhydrock are other places of interest for a day out.
