Villa in Calahonda, Costa Del Sol, Spain - Peaceful Location And Only A 10 Minute Stroll To The Main Bars And Restaurants

The villa is situated in a quiet residential area, and is only a 10 minute walk to the centre of Calahonda, with its numerous restaurants and bars. The villa is decorated and furnished to a high standard and consists of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, with everything you need to enjoy a self catering holiday. It has a private south facing garden, which is safe and secure and is ideal for children to play in. There is a raised decking area with dining table for 6 and a portable BBQ. The beautiful communal pool is only 20 metres away and is shared with only a small number of similar villas. You can walk to the beach from the villa. On the way you will pass lots of family friendly cafe bars where you can stop for a cool drink and something to eat. There is a large supermarket less than 5 minutes away by car and several smaller supermarkets within walking distance. The villa is only a 5 minute drive to Cabopino, a 15 minute drive to Marbella and Puerto Banus and a 15 minute drive to Fuengirola. The nearest golf course is less than a 5 minute drive.

About the Owner

We are a family of 6 which includes myself, Phil, my wife Joanne and our 4 boys aged 1, 7, 11 and 13. We lived in Spain for 3 years during which time we bought our villa. A downturn in the economy forced a decision to return to the UK where we were able to pick up our previous careers in electrical engineering and primary school teaching. We now live in Preston in the North West of the UK, not quite Calahonda but still very nice.

"Great villa...great location...great holiday!!"

Thanks to Phil and Joanne for the use of your beatiful villa for 2 weeks of total bliss!!! From the onset of booking they took the stress and worry away, promptly answering any questions we had and nothing being too much trouble. We found the villa to be exactly as advertised and were just thrilled by the location. A 10 minute walk taking you to the restaurants and bars and a little further on to the supermarkets. The villa was very tastefully decorated, clean, large and airy with all the thoughtful conveniences that make a difference, including the Scooby Doo DVD's that entertained our wee boy! The pool and surroundings were fabulous and although it is was a shared pool we pretty much had it to ourselves for the two weeks we were there.

We will definitely return to this suberb villa, thanks again.

we are just back from our enjoyable 9 night stay in the villa which we wish had been a longer stay. The location of the villa is very peaceful and private in a very quiet area. The villa has everything you need for a very enjoyable holiday, shops, restaurants and bars are within a short walking distance. The pool area was extremely well kept and most days we had it to ourselves. The villa itself is very clean, modern and well looked after. We have stayed in many villas over the years and this is right up there with the best of them. We would defiantly be looking to return to this villa and would defiantly recommend this to anyone looking a relaxing and quiet holiday to the costa del sol. John, Belfast

Fantastic Villa

Enjoyed a wonderful holiday in this first class villa accomodation. Very tastefully decorated with plenty of space to chill out. The garden was ideal for the grand children to play in whilst the adults could relax. The communal swimming pool ideal for lazing in the sun which we were fortunate to have, allthough, not yet heated enough for the adults, the children loved it. We decided not to hire a car and instead used the local buses from the main road nearby which took us to Malaga, very cheap. Nearby La Cala is also lovely to visit with many eating places,again a short ride away. We look forward to returning in the near future.

We bought our villa in 2007 whilst living in Spain. The villa was home to our family until a decision was reached to return to the UK, from this point onwards we have rented our villa for holiday rentals.

Activity and Interests

Car: not necessary


The nearest beach to our Villa is a 20 minute walk. Either side of the peaceful Calahonda beach are the more vibrant beaches of La Cala and Cabopino. Whilst you can walk to either of these beaches you can use the local bus service or take a 5 minute car journey


The nearest and most convenient airport is Malaga. The airport is approximately 30 minute drive away


Calahonda is centrally located on the Costa Del Sol. Whilst a car is not essential there are so many places to visit such as Cabopino 5mins, La Cala 5 mins, Fuengirola 15 mins, Benalmadena and Torremolinos 20 mins, Marbella and Puerto Banus 30 mins, Gibralter 50 mins, Malaga 35 mins.

Further Details:

Being situated in the lower part of Calahonda all the bars and restaurants are easily accessible by foot ( there and back! ) A 10 minute stroll reaches the start of the "Strip" which contains a mix of bars and restaurants including mini supermarket. Beyond the strip you reach the El Zoco centre and beyond that Dona Lola and the beach. Calahonda is a resort that would most suit families or couples.

The Andalucia region

The Costa Del Sol has around 330 days of sunshine per year and has so much to offer: beautiful sandy beaches, over 60 golf courses, charming Spanish villages, cosmopolitan towns, great shopping, fabulous food and wine, and best of all, the fantastic year round climate.

This long, golden coastline stretches from Nerja in the East to Gibraltar in the West. A short drive from the coast takes you inland to the white washed villages of Ojen, Istan, Ronda and Mijas. Malaga is the historic capital where you will find its stunning cathedral, port, The Picasso Museum, fabulous shopping and international restaurants.

For those who are visiting during the winter months, the ski resorts of the Sieraa Nevada are approximately 2 - 2 half hours drive from Calahonda. The long hot summers and short mild winters, make it the perfect coast to holiday at all year round.

Sitio De Calahonda, Mijas, Urbanizacion

Calahonda is approx 30 minutes drive from Malaga airport. It is situated halfway between the holiday resort of Fuengirola and the world famous, shopping town of Marbella and Puerto Banus. Both resorts are only 15 minutes drive from Calahonda. It has a 9 hole, par 3, golf course with a further 20 golf courses within a 20 km radius.

The area has numerous restaurants, including Spanish, Italian, Mexican, Chinese and Indian, several bars, and 2 large commercial centres. Calahonda has its own safe sandy beach, with many other local beaches just a short drive along the coast.

Booking Notes:
We ask for 20% deposit to secure a booking with the balance being due 2 calendar months prior to the stay. Along with the balance we ask for a £100 bond which we return once you are back home, the villa has been checked and our keys returned. Each guest will receive our standard contract. Keys are posted to your home address by recorded delivery. Directions and general arrival information is e-mailed to you in advance of your stay.

Changeover Day:
We understand that flights to Malaga can offer better value on weekdays so we are very flexible on changeover days. The villa will be ready for 2pm on the arrival day and we ask guests to leave by 10am on departure day.

The villa was bough for my family to live in so as you would expect it is very family friendly. We did not want a private pool primarily for safety reasons as well as the up keep. When you visit our villa you will understand why the communal garden and wonderful pool made that a very easy decision.

  • Notes on accommodation: We bought our villa whilst living in Spain, at the time we were a family of 4 with two young boys. We chose this villa for a number of reasons including the safe and sunny garden, fantastic pool and communal grassed area, the tranquillity of its location and the fact that it is an easy walk to bars, restaurants, busses and supermarkets. Whilst living there our third child came along, boy number 3 and since returning back to the UK number 4 boy completes the family. We have such fond memories of our time living in Spain and in our villa and return for holidays as often as we can. I would hope that guests find our villa a little warmer than some properties that are clearly bought for the rental business. You will find a selection of toys, DVD's and books along with scooters, skateboards and footballs which our boys are happy to share. Outside: Our villa has a totally private south facing garden which is mainly patio with a raised deck area and flower beds. Alongside the deck is a play house for young children. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The villa will be fully cleaned on arrival and all bedding and towels are provided. An additional clean during your stay can be arranged at an additional cost
