definitely book again. As described. Property clean well maintained. Would definitely recommend (already have). So close to activities, attractions and restaurants that we wanted to visit. Big thanks to Brian and Genny for the thoughtful touches such as milk tea coffee handwash, washing up,liquid, etc to get us started, and the lovely vase of fresh flowers.

A sun-filled chalet with lovely Island views

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely, well presented chalet that overlooks not one, but two glorious Bays. Facing south, it was drenched in sunshine all day allowing you to step out onto the patio 1st thing to gaze across Colwell Bay towards the Needles in the west with breakfast in hand. Or in the evening, with glass of wine to see the sunset disappear over the horizon- perfect!

The chalet was very well equipped throughout and alsoincluded good wifi reception (which went down very well with my two daughters!). The nearest beach is only a 5 minute walk through golden gorse, buzzing with bees and butterflies.

Brian and Genny are great hosts and we're very welcoming and helpful. This was our 2nd stay here and I am sure will return again. I would certainly recommend this property to anyone wanting a quiet and comfortable place to stay, close to the beach and the best of the West Wight had to offer.

My favourite memory was looking at the stars and Jupiter through my telescope. The Island has wonderfully dark skies to the south, allowing you take in the wonder of the night sky- stunning!

Like a home from home.

  • 5 of 5

The chalet was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Equipped for all our holiday needs.

Brain and Genny were there to greet us on arrival. The complimentary tea and coffee was a welcome gesture after a long journey.

The chalet is ideally situated for the beach and various attractions such as Fort Victoria and the Needles. Going a little further a field I would recommend Appuldurcombe Falconry & Farm Park for a enjoyable day out for both adults and children . Although, the café closing at 14.00 took us by surprise !.

I 'd have no hesitation in recommending Freshfields and look forward returning next year ourselves.

fabulous week on the Island

  • 5 of 5

Cliff End is exactly what it says on the tin and having stayed on the Isle of Wight on a number of occasions, this is about as coastal as it gets which was ideal to wander off in either direction, towards Yarmouth Harbour or back towards Freshwater Bay. The holiday bungalow was immaculately clean and we could not have been made more welcome by Brian and Genny, who even brought us a starter pack - particularly good as we arrived after local shops had closed and which saw us through the first overnight.

The week seemed to fly by and it was like we'd known the place all our lives. If the Island is good enough for Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) then it's good enough for me !

Can't wait to go again. Huge thanks to Brian and Genny ... see you next year.

Colwell Bay is the nearest beach approx 10 min walk away. This is a safe and sandy beach. that has a Blue Flag rating.

The nearest ferryport is Yarmouth which is approx a 10 min drive away. This leaves from Lymington (Hampshire) and the crossing time is approx 30 mins. Operators are Wightlink. They also have a crossing from Portsmouth to Fishborne (IW). Red Funnel ferries operate from Southampton to East Cowes this crossing is 1 hour. It is important to book your ferry crossing beforehand as they can get heavily booked in summer.

The small towns of Freshwater and Yarmouth are approx 10 mins drive away. The main town of Newport is 12 miles away.
