Panoramic Sea and Coastal Views

Overview

Property

Updated: 28-Nov-2016
Quiet location, minutes from Port Isaac harbour.

Ground floor, one bedroom flat although it will sleep 4 with the help of our sofa-bed. It offers outstanding, panoramic, sea views and has private parking for one vehicle.

The apartment is part of a late Victorian/early Edwardian property called Seapoint which was built as a hotel. It stands in a quiet location above the mid point between Port Isaac and Port Gaverne, at the end of a no-through road.

The accommodation was refurbished in 2014 and provides contemporary living whilst maintaining some original features such as fireplaces and high ceilings.

There is a fully fitted kitchen with integrated appliances. Pots, pans, crockery and cutlery is provided.

The bathroom has a fully tiled enclosure and a thermostatically controlled shower. In addition, there is a separate cloakroom with toilet and basin, which is a great help if there are four staying.

The double bedroom has built-in wardrobes and there is space to set up a travel cot. In the living room there is a sofa bed for two. Pillows and duvets are provided, but we can only provide sheets and towels for overseas visitors.

The living room has a sofa (bed) and two armchairs from which you can enjoy the far reaching panoramic views through new picture windows out across the bay and the coastline up to Tintagel. Maybe you'll see some dolphins.

Just a short walk from Port Isaac harbour and Port Gaverne cove the property is ideally located to explore on foot.

Port Isaac and Port Gaverne are often seen at Portwen in 'Doc Martin' and the new BBC series of 'Poldark' was filmed closeby.

The route of the National Trusts South West Coastal Path passes through Port Isaac and Port Gaverne so there are plenty of other walks to be taken as well, further information can be found on the website http://www.southwestcoastpath.com/

Locally there are shops, cafes bars and restaurants, plus you can buy seafood direct from the fishermen themselves down in the harbour.

Just a short drive away is the surfing beach of Polzeath and the family beach at Daymer. And then there's the rest of the area. Do I have time to describe.........

Just Fab

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic place with stunning views, spotlessly clean, very attractive & comfortable interior with everything that you require. Good to have parking so close & so much within walking distance. Loved the Chapel Café, Nathan Outlaw's Fish Kitchen, The Krabpot & Fresh From The Sea. Also enjoyed trips to Padstow, Wadebridge & Boscastle. Great service from the owners, this is our second stay & have already booked for next year. This is a fab place to relax & recharge the batteries!

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

Although the entrance and hallway , on first arival leaves you with a second or two of anticipation .

Once you open the door that is immediately forgotten , and the apartment is spot on !

Fantastic views over the bay with no interruption .

Only one tiny thought , it would be 100% with a outside veranda to soak up the evening atmosphere .

All in all fantastic place and we hopefully will be going back as soon as possible 👍𣐽𣑍

Owner's Response: Many thanks for this kind review. Look forward to your return. In respect of the communal entrance and hallway, these may well have been redecorated by the time this review is posted. And as for a veranda, yes, it's on our wish list and we have a cunning plan to make it happen, so watch this space (or, rather, our Owners Direct page). We have already had new windows installed in a way than one can be taken out and replaced by a door to give access to outdoor space. However, for now, guests can take the chairs from the communal entrance to an area behind the parking spaces on the other side of the road where there is a great view over the opposite headland and Port Gaverne.

Awesome

  • 5 of 5

WOW! What can we say! This flat was amazing the owners have thought of everything! The modern decor was a real treat? The view from the lounge across the sea was stunning and constantly changed depending on the weather, we could of happily stayed in and admired it. Port Isaac and Port Gavern were just a stones throw away from the flat. We will hopefully go back again real soon. Highly recommended. Can't believe we forgot to submit a review on our return.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for this review. Makes me wonder if we shouldn't offer our property selection and interior design service to others. This time next year Rodney........

Amazing!

Perfect! The location is perfect, the flat has everything you need and you have amazing views. We fell in love with this place and didn't want to leave. Even when the weather was wet and windy, we enjoyed sitting in the lounge and watching the waves crash against the coast. I can't think of any negatives! Highly recommended!!!

Location

From the Owner

My parents had many happy years living in Cornwall before I came along, so we had been on several holidays to Cornwall and often wondered about buying a home there. In 2013 we stayed at a friends cottage down by the harbour and just fell in love with the place and behold, Flat 7 was for sale. It needed work, but it was ideal for us. And at just 3 hours drive, perfect for a little lad in a baby seat.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Exeter at 30 Miles Nearest Barpub : In Port Isaac or Port Gaverne at 0.2 Miles Nearest Golf : St Endoc at 9 Miles Nearest Restaurant : In Port Isaac or Port Gaverne at 0.2 Miles Nearest Beach : 10 minutes walk? at 0.2 Miles Car: recommended

Special interest holidays:

Surfing can be had at Polzeth, where boards and wet suits can be hired. There is a firm that offers training at the beach. Coasteering also available, and they use the headland opposite Seapoint so you can watch before you try.

Kyaking, fishing, snokelling etc is also available from local providers.

Coast/Beach:

It takes less than 10 minutes to walk to the beach at Port Isaac harbour. Port Gaverne beach is also about a 10 minute walk.

Surfing beach at Polzeath is approx 15 minutes drive. A few minutes further on is Daymar which is great for families. From here, walk to rock and get the ferry to Padstow. Other beaches at Trebarwith Strand (also good for surfing) and Watergate Bay are not far away.

The North Cornish Coast Path passes through Port Isaac.

Try 'Coasteering', or from your chair just watch them jump from the cliffs.

Travel:

Newquay airport is 30 minutes drive with direct flights from fifteen destinations both in the UK and Europe. Car hire available at the airport. 70 mins drive from Exeter airport. 20 mins drive from Bodmin train station. Buses available to Wadebridge, Rock and Polzeath. Good train links from Newquay and Bodmin to London.

Driving times will, of course, vary according to where you are travelling from. However, it takes approx two and a half hours from Bristol.

Distances:

Padstow 10 miles. Tintagel 10 miles. Rock 6 miles.

Further Details:

Explore the locations of 'Doc Martin' in Port Isaac and Port Gaverne. Doc Martin filming in 2015 from March to July, we have heard.

Local shops, bars and restaurants are located within walking distance in Port Isaac and Port Gaverne. Nathan Outlaw has restaurants in Port Isaac, one down in the harbour (Outlaw's Kitchen with one Michelin Star) and the other, brand new, across the road from The Terrace.

The main supermarket is approx 5 minutes walk. It is open until 10pm almost every day and has a cashpoint.

And just a note here if you have children. We have a little boy of just over two and so, from experience, if you are bringing your children, leave the paints, crayons, pens etc at home. Drawing in the sand is just as good and the washing up water is free.

Facilities

From the Owner

No need to use the car for most of the time. Short walk to shops and there are pubs and resturants closeby. Port Gaverne beach is quiet and sheltered. Best of all, the view from our window. Just so relaxing. What's more, dolphins are occasionally to be seen in the bay.
