Large 3 Bedroom House, Very Well Equipped, Our Home From Home

Updated: 21-Nov-2016
House in Budens, Parque da Floresta, Budens, Vila do Bispo, Western Algarve, Portugal - Lovely Location, Access To Beautiful Beaches And Fabulous Restaurants Without Too Many Tourists

I fell in love with the house when I went into the lounge diner. I loved the large windows with so much light and the views. We wanted a house that had 3 bedrooms so the children could bring friends or we could come out with our parents. It is very spacious. It has a spacious balcony with space to eat outside, you could even eat out there if its raining (which is quite rare as far as we are concerned). There are lots of different areas to sit outside. You can sit on the balcony area. There is a front garden where you can watch the sunset in the evening, or the back garden under the palm trees. The back garden is not fully enclosed and not suitable for unsupervised younger children. We have some light but very comfortable sun chairs, which are easy to move around to the area you feel like lounging around in. If you want to lie out in the sun there are plenty of loungers in the pool area, which is restricted use to the owners and their guests at Quinta Do Montinho. The pool area has toilets and showers, plus the use of a fridge to keep your food and drink cool if you want to spend all day by the pool, perfect.

About the Owner

Our family has been holidaying in Portugal for the last 8 years and decided to buy there as we love it so much. We holiday there as much as we can.

When we started going there the children just loved playing in the pool or on the beach, they now very much enjoy eating out at the wonderful restaurants in the area, especially in Salema!

Peaceful location with so much to do

  • 5 of 5

The area is quiet but just a few mins walk to village bakery, local restaurant & supermarket. Great to relax in the house or poolside. Very easy drive to Salema for lovely beach & more restaurants. We also caught the local bus into Lagos for great day out. House is very well maintained, has lots of living space and has all the facilities you need. We stayed for 5 days, not long enough to do everything, will definitely come back

Stunning Views

  • 5 of 5

The house is situated on the edge of a quiet village with easy access to local bars, restaurants and nearby supermarket, oh and amazing local bakery. Set on the hillside next to the resort golf course and bowls club, the house has stunning views of the surrounding area even without moving from the sofa! The house is very well fitted out and also benefits from use of the nearby residents pool.

Within a short drive along the coast there are some lovely villages/towns with stunning beaches and views including Salema, Sagres and Lagos. These also offer a good selection of facilities and restaurants. Also good walking options from the house to local villages and beach. Can’t wait to go back.

Great 'home from home'.

  • 5 of 5

We have been to this property twice now, and will definitely be going back again. The house is equipped with everything you need, and we especially liked the juicer which we used every day to enjoy the fabulous oranges which are sold everywhere (but we were lucky enough to have a stall 5 minutes down the road). A leisurely breakfast of freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh baked bread from the local bakery in Budens, eaten on the balcony with great views is simply the best way to start the day. We liked the quiet of the location, away from the hustle and bustle of the larger resorts on the Algarve. Definitely need a car to get around, but there are many lovely places to visit, and we particularly like Sagres and Lagos.

From the Owner

We chose this house as it was close the village of Budens, so we could walk to the bakery, supermarket, bars and restaurants and we feel part of the village, but it is quiet and tucked away and never feels busy even in the height of summer. We dont like very touristy areas and this is perfect for us. We love the village of Salema, it has a safe beach for younger children. If you want organised beach activities the kids go to the Praia Da Luz beach hut to sail, water ski, canoe, paddle boarding. There are loads of small sandy beaches close by too. Salema has (for a small village) a fantastic choice of very very good restaurants. Lagos suits us all, the girls love the shops and the boys love the boats and the harbour and fishing trips. It also has an excellent science museum.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Faro at 100 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Budea at 0.5 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Parque Da Floresta at 1 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : O'Tiagos at 0.5 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Salema at 5 Kilometres Car: necessary

There are loads of beautiful beachers nearby. Salema (5mins), Zavial (15mins), Martinhal (20mins), Atlantic coast for surfing (20mins)

Faro airport is an hours drive away. We recommend you use the toll road which should cost a maximum of €20 return. The majority of the route is along this dual carriageway. When you reach Lagos its about 15 minutes along the N125 to Budens.

You can arrange transport from the airport, but its generally much cheaper to hire a car, you can then explore both coasts.

Budens village is a 5 minute walk with a bakery, bars and a couple of restaurants.

Salema is a 5 minute drive, with an excellent choice of restaurants. There are a couple of local taxi companies, which are very reliable. You can also walk there, via the road to Figuera, which takes about 45mins to an hour.

Lagos has so much character and isn't ruined by tourists. The shopping is very good, lots of bars and restuarants. There is a harbour with lots of fishing and sight seeing trips.

Further Details:

There is a large supermarket in Budens which is a 5/10 minute walk from the property and a 2 minute drive.

From the Owner

This is our home from home, so you should find everything you want there that you can get at home. The kitchen is very well equipped for those that want to cook, I hate going on holiday and finding I cant cook as there is only a milk pan to use. There is plenty of glasses (including pint glasses) and crockery, with a dishwasher to wash them all up for you. There is a washing machine too.
