Regular buses, a road train and local taxis provide transport into the the port and historic Calpe old town where there are museums, churches excellent markets and a theatre. Calpe also has transport links by boat, bus and train to other tourist centres like Benidorm, Guadalest or Moraira and the theme parks of Terra Mitica, Terra Natura, Mundomar and Aqualandia.
Calpe's Old Town offers excellent traditional cuisine and a fabulous Spanish atmosphere Where is Calpe? Located in the East of Spain ( Valencia Region ) within the province of Alicante on the Costa Blanca - Nearest Airport Alicante - 75 km Nearest Beach Play de la Fossa Nearest Train Station - Calpe - 4 km The Costa Blanca, on the east coast, is one of the loveliest regions of Spain. It enjoys more than 315 sunshine days a year and an average temperature of 18-19C over the entire year.
Costa Blanca means white coast, a name taken from the endless miles of beautiful sandy beaches which decorate the coast. These stretch from the cosmopolitan town of Denia in the north to the popular tourist resort of Torrevieja in the south with quiet ports like Moraira, busy resorts like Benidorm and Alicante and interesting fishing harbours like Calpe in between. The northern part of the region is mountainous, relatively green and peppered with groves of orange and olive trees along with colourful orchards of almonds and cherries.
It's a region which offers all things to all people. This is a paradise for golfers and gourmets, sun worshippers and serious party people, families and fun-loving 18-30s. There are big beachside resorts with skyscraper hotels and all-night clubs and there are delightful mountain villages where life seems hardly to have changed for centuries. Calpe is a town which is full of history and culture. Its strategic location on the coast has attracted many voyagers and settlers throughout history. Remains of Iberian tribes were discovered around the skirts of the Rock of Ifach Then came Phoenicians and Greeks. Later, the Romans founded a prosperous colony on the coastal plain whose main activity was commerce in dried, salted fish.Later the Moors arrived and there were also invasions by pirates.
In the ancient town centre, next to the Moorish quarter (Arrabal) there is the group of monuments comprising the Torreo de la peça, the Town Walls and the church known as the Iglesia Vieja, the sole surviving example of Mudejar-Gothic architecture in the province of Valencia. Just outside the town there is the Moli Tower and the remains of an ancient Roman villa , once forming part of the fish factory known as the Queen's Bath (Banys de la Reina). And don't miss the flamingos which come in large flocks to the salt lakes known as Las Salinas.
Calpe holds delightful fiestas like the Moors & Christians parades or the fiesta of Calpe's patron saint, La Virgen de las Nieves, when there are processions, fireworks, and outdoor parties with lots of food and drink or the feast of St. Joseph when festivities start with a procession winding its way through the streets of the old town, followed by a giant paella in the town square. At midnight effigies of wood and cardboard are burnt to celebrate the beginning of spring, toasted with customary sardines and sangria.
You can also play golf or just walk in the nearby mountains and watch wildlife. You can scuba dive, windsurf and paraglide or just sunbathe, paddle and take a trip on the glass bottomed boat. Discover Calpe at all times of day, beside the sea or inland, enjoy its beaches and mountains, discover its festivals, art and traditions.

About the Owner
We bought this apartment at a time when we were able to spend most of our winters in Spain. Unfortunately my husband's ill health has meant that we are now rarely able to visit for more than a few days, so we now let the property to help cover the maintenance costs.
It was designed as a home from home so we hope that our visitors will enjoy it as much as we do.

Fantastic Location with fabulous views, just what we needed !! : June 2013
We have used this apartment the last 2 years and money permitting we will be returning in 2014. The location could not be any better for us as a family. 2 Mins and we are on the beach, actually the apartments would have to be built on the beach to be any closer to the beach. The Pool is right below the balcony, we have spent many hours playing with the kids here. The amenities are again 2 mins walk with restaurants and bars and there is a fantastic ice cream parlour , if our children had their way we would have been in every night.
The view from the balcony looks out over the beach and the famous Calpe rock. The apartment comfortably sleeps 4 people. Very clean and has all the things you would need. Even a washing machine ! Calpe is ideal for us as everything is available in a very short distance. If you want to see stuff I recommend hiring a car. Fantastic visiting the mountain range village 1/2 hour away. We cannot praise this apartment enough. Looking forward to 2014 god willing.

A wonderful cosy apartment, very centrally situated on the seafront in Calpe. The bus runs right outside the front door and the coastal pedestrian path is right outside the back door! A wonderful location for beachside walks beside clean sandy beaches, with plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants together with a variety of shops and supermarkets all within walking distance. The bus goes to the rail station from where trains will take you, along the coast to Benidorm, Alicante or Denia for an inexpensive day out. The apartment is very clean and comfortably appointed and the balcony gets the sunshine from very first thing in the morning until it disappears behind the mountains in the evening with wonderful sunsets. It also has the benefit of secure underground parking and the whole area feels a very safe, family friendly environment. Thoroughly recommended and I shall look forward to passing another spring time visit here. Thank You Wendy.
