FINCA CHAFARIZ Tabayesco, Arrieta, Lanzarote, Canary Islands - Located in a Protected Landscape, a Few Minutes by Car to Beach, Shops, and Restaurants.

Our spacious, comfortable classic Canarian Country house is situated on a 10.000m2 plot outside the little village of Tabayesco (within the valley of Temisa,a nature reserve and protected landscape), surrounded by nature and small vegetable plots on the terraces.

The house has the typical local lay-out of a large (50 sqm ) central living space with excess to the kitchen, the conservatory and the hall that leads to the bedrooms, situated around this central high ceilinged lounge.

The La Garita beach and local fishing village of Arrieta are a few minutes car journey - 2km, Haria village is under 10 minutes car journey or for a livelier outing you can reach Costa Teguise resort or the island capital of Arrecife within around 15 - 20 minutes.

The large 50m2 living room offers ample lounge seating, with a dining area for up to 10 people. There is also an adjoining conservatory with second sitting room, and a smaller dining table boasting beautiful views of the valley and ocean beyond.

The kitchen is fully fitted with a 4 burner cooker, oven, an A+++ fridge/freezer, blender, toaster, mixer, etc. We like to provide bare cooking essentials such as olive oil, vinegar, spices tea & coffee as well as a welcome pack.The kitchen table also seats 6 people.

Our spacious master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a walk in shower. There are two further bedrooms, both contain twin beds (one of them with the option of a double bed if required ) plus guest bathroom.

We recently spent a year thoroughly refurbishing the house and garden to create a delightful holiday hide-away for couples and families in a very privileged location. There are no direct neighbours, thus ensuring absolute peace, quiet and privacy but with most amenities almost on your doorstep.

Over the last 25 years we have developed a substantial part of the original farmland around the house, creating a terraced garden with many endemic plants and trees, typical for this subtropical dry-zone area. We also created several relaxing chill-out areas for outdoor living including an original tree trunk gazebo and a large wooden lounging bench with a spectacular view of the valley, onwards to the sea and the village of Arrieta.

A large sheltered courtyard, surrounded by a natural stone wall houses the swimming pool. The pool sits embeded lower into the floor for depth and sits partly above ground in order to enhance childsafety (3x5x1.20m). The pool is heated by a solar panel instalation twice the size of the pool itself which is on average large enough to keep a pleasant temperature most of the year . However a spell of cloudy weather for a couple of days in winter, can bring the temperature down some degrees.

Next to the pool there is a wooden terrace, ideal for sunbathing and relaxing. The pleasant lighting creates a cosy atmosphere for night-time use, especially as the courtyard is well sheltered from the wind. A pergola made of recycled roof-timbers and adourned with ivy, means there is shade during the day. A perfect sitting area with a little pond and waterfall for extra tranquility. Our outdoor areas have been well thought out, providing guests with a very pleasant space for anything from an early breakfast, to a barbecue-evening under a spectacular starry night sky. The house has its own power supply from a sophisticated solar power installation making the most of our sunny climate.

After having lived for 25 years in this delightful little valley, we have recently moved to the nearby village and now offer Finca Chafariz to those who are looking for a truly peaceful and private location to enjoy a holiday. The valley offers the peaceful location within nature, but with most amenities conveniently at hand. We live only 1.5 km away, therefore are always at hand to help with any advice or information you may require.

Why Hil chose Lanzarote

We both worked in the island capital - Arrecife, and were looking for a place to live in the countryside surrounded by nature, yet near enough to schools, shops and social life with our at the time young family. During one of our searches we found this place and fell in love with it straight away.

The valley of Temisa has been declared a protected landscape in the last century.

What makes this house unique

Absolute peace, quiet and privacy but with a quiet sandy beach only 2.5 km away. The nearby village of Arrieta offers a good selection of shops and two supermarkets. Here you will also find a variety of very good restaurants offering locally caught fresh fish and other delicacies.

Often, especially at night all you hear is the sound of waves breaking on the shore. A good variety of long and short walks can be undertaken right from your doorstep and it is an excellent area for mountain biking, (wind)surfing, kayaking, nature trails and exploring the land etc.

We have a wealth of knowledge for the local areas, from sightseeing, to trips and excursions and much more, so we are always very happy to help our guests to plan anything from outings to special locations for a birthday or anniversary. No question too big or too small, its a small island but there is much to explore :-)

Wonderful stay

Had a great 15 day stay, very peaceful location and stunning view.

Very spacious and clean villa. Swimming pool was a lovely temperature.

Only problem we had was there wasn’t a microwave as advertised, contacted Hilbrand. He apologised and within a few hours a brand new microwave was delivered, now that’s what I call service.

What I also liked is Hilbrand is always looking to improve the guest experience, and welcomes input from guests. Not that there is much to improve. Just in case you’re reading this review and wondering the kind of improvements I’m talking about, small things like trimming the bush in front of the conservatory lounge so better view of the sea (I told you they are small things).

I only ever return to properties that are well looked after and spotlessly clean, so the fact I’m returning in Sept 2017 says more that my words on here.

Stunning property situated in a valley just above Tabayesco

Beautiful house & gardens in private & secluded situation yet easy access by car to all amenities. Hil, the owner, lives locally & was very helpful if needed. The photos of the site don't do it justice, you really need to be there to appreciate the beauty of the property in it's surroundings. Unlike other properties in the Canaries the pool is very warm & even inviting for an early morning or evening dip. Everything you need for a quite & relaxing break for families or couples alike. Would definitely rent this property again, & recommend to family & friends.

Fantastic house and location!

We (family of four, two teenaged girls) rented the house for a week. It's situated in a valley between two hills, on a cul de sac dirt road, very placid. There were hardly any non-natural sounds to be heard, apart from an occasional aircraft passing by. A small but nice pool completes the whole. We had a great stay there, owner Hilbrand was very helpful and gave us some good suggestions (restaurants, places of interest). Arietta is just a few minutes' drive away, has a good shop for daily groceries and bread and some nice restaurants. Strongly recommended to people like us who like nature and tranquillity and still want to be close to a nice town, beaches and other places of interest.

Großzügiges Wohnen mit viel Komfort im nördlichen Lanzarote

Gleich bei der Ankunft war uns (2 Personen) klar, dass wir von der Unterkunft nicht enttäuscht werden würden. Wunderschön im Barranco del Chafarís mit Blick auf das Meer, liegt das Haus in großer Entfernung zu den nächsten Nachbarn. Das geräumige und geschmackvoll eingerichtete Wohnzimmer mit den bequemen Sofas lädt zu langen abendlichen Lesesitzungen ein, nur die Konkurrenz durch die voll verglaste (ehemalige) Terrasse bewirkt, dass wir unsere Abende auch mal in unterschiedlichen Räumen verbracht haben. Eine offene Terrasse mit Meerblick existiert natürlich auch.

Die Ausstattung ist dem Haus angemessen, alle möglichen Sitzgelegenheiten sind gut und solide. Die Küche ist ausgezeichnet angelegt und ebenfalls gut ausgestattet. Die Strom- und Warmwasserversorgung erfolgt über Solar. Für trübere Tage (im Mai zumindest gibt es solche) existiert einen Generator, der für uns unhörbar in einiger Entfernung zum Haus seine Dienste bis zur Wiederauffüllung der Akkus verrichtet. Eine gasbetriebene Therme existiert auch, wir haben sie aber nicht benutzen müssen.

Der Besitzer (Hil) ist sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und war für uns immer telefonisch erreichbar ("Wie hieß noch einmal das gute Fisch-Restaurant?"). Noch besonders positiv zu erwähnen ist die gute Internetanbindung mit Wifi und der Solar-beheizte Pool.

Danke für die schöne Zeit!

Wir können uns einen weiteren Besuch durchaus vorstellen.

A peaceful haven - perfect place to relax

Thank you Hil for providing everything we needed - the sound system was the icing on the cake for my husband, also the loan of your guitar!

The property is clean and spacious with the most wonderful views from every window. We loved the peace and the outside space - the photos don't do it justice. We loved watching the fish in the fish pond, the small terrace area and the pool, which was lovely and warm.

Although the property has solar power both showers provided plenty of hot water. There were good sized towels, which is often a problem we find when renting a villa - plus good quality beach towels too.

It was so convenient to get to Arrieta for shopping and eating out. We had great fun trying out the various fish restaurants;everyone was so friendly & didn't seem to mind that we didn't speak Spanish.

At night, the lack of light pollution meant you had the most amazing view of the stars I have ever seen.

It was hard to drag ourselves away from the Finca, but there are so many interesting places to visit we felt we should try to explore some of the island. We particularly enjoyed visiting Jameos Del Agua, Cesar Manrique's house and also Lagomar. We found the unusual landscape fascinating and we are certainly planning another trip to the island very soon.

We can not recommend this Finca highly enough, if you are looking for a quiet location.

Just one point to mention - the property is accessed along an un made up track & therefore when hiring a car make sure it can easily cope with this sort of terrain!

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review. Nice remark about the stars ! Sometimes our guests have told us that they hadn´t realised that there were that many visible with the naked eye. The road to the house is usually not a problem for a normal car but the one they gave you had very litle road clearance, If in doubt, our clients should contact us and we could recommend a rental company.

Beautifully situated property

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the property was everything we expected - secluded, quiet, well-appointed and cared for. Our trip to Lanzarote was enhanced by Hil and Carmen's advice on where to go and what to do including a restaurant in a neighbouring town which we visited three times! A relaxing, comfortable stay with even some March sunshine!!

Coast/Beach:

The beach at La Garita is under 5 minutes away by car (2.5 km) as well as the fishing village of Arrieta. Here you will find two supermarkets, a couple of shops, a diving-centre and a fine selection of good and economicaly priced seaside restaurants.

For a wider range of shops and restaurants our guests can head to Costa Teguise which is one of Lanzarote's 3 main resorts, By car this journey takes 15 minutes or a a further 5-10 minutes to the lovely island capital of Arrecife, with a brand new marina.

Travel:

30 km from airport, around half an hour drive. A car is essential and can be rented at the airport. We can help you with recommendations. Detailed instructions on the route to the house will be given on booking.

Distances:

Nearest village for shops and restaurants is Arrieta, 2.5 km away. Major shopping and outgoing areas you will find in Costa Teguise and the capital Arrecife, some 20 minutes away by car. The whole rest of the island is at most 50 minutes away by car.

Further Details:

The valley of Temisa is considered one of the most beautiful valleys of Lanzarote and was declared a protected landscape decades ago. In earlier times the slopes of the valley were farmed almost all the way to the top, the higher terraces now slowly reverting back to nature. The rocky outcrops houses some of the few inland breeding grounds of the Pardelas, the Canarian shearwater whose peculiar call can be heard as they arrive in the evening from a day out on the ocean foraging to feed their young. On the lower slopes many of the fields are still in use and planted with maize, onions, potatoes and a variety of other vegetables. The intricate shape of the stone walls and terraces create a delightful architecture of farmland-fields, providing a very pleasant hiking area. Numerous short and long walks can be started directly from the house. Moonlight walks highly recommended.

This north-eastern part of Lanzarote lies a considerable distance away from the major tourist resorts and offers lots of beautiful spots to discover as well as interesting places to visit like la Cueva de los Verdes, los Jameos del Agua and the spectacular cactus-garden in Guatiza designed by the artist/architect Cesar Manrique.
