On the shores of the Solent with panoramic sea views, watch the yachts racing

Overview

Property

Updated: 27-Nov-2016
Holiday cottage on the shores of the Solent, Nr. Warsash , Hampshire,

Detached holiday home Unrivalled views across the Solent from private gardens and open plan lounge/ dining /kitchen area. New for 2015 which was fully booked, 2016 season booked up early from recommendations and returning guests. 2017 booking up again already. Book now. .

The view and location are second to none! Unlike many other holiday homes advertised as sea views we are on the sea shore and the photos are what you see from our holiday home rather than general ones of a location We have breath-taking, uninterrupted panoramic sea views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight stretching from the Napoleonic forts at the eastern end of the Solent, Cowes directly opposite, then down to Newtown Creek in the west Solent This is one of the busiest shipping areas and probably the most famous sailing area of the world!

Always so much to see, day and night: Cruise ships, tankers, tugs, ferrys, huge container ships, lifeboats, hovercraft, dinghys, cruising yachts, racing yachts and racing fleets with their colourful Spinnakers. We provide binoculars! Fantastic sun rises and sun sets. Although we have a new TV with Freeview, its rarely on!

Guests may also make use of the facilities of the adjacent holiday park.

Tennis court ( £10 refundable deposit for the key to the tennis court)

Heated outdoor swimming pool (available during the season May to Sept) with sun loungers and lifeguards for which guests may obtain daily or a weekly pass for a small cost (2016 charges were £60 for a family weekly pass for 2 adults/ 2 children) this also allows guests to use the park club house which also overlooks the Solent and has evening entertainment at weekends.

This is a perfect location for a relaxing holiday watching the boats on the Solent but equally perfect for visiting the many interesting places in the area.

About the Owner

Hello Thank you for looking at Solent Shores. A little about us. We are Pauline and Giles and we owned and ran an RYA Sea School, Ocean Adventures Sailing, and spend most of our time away sailing and living on board Quintessence our 42 foot yacht. This year we spent several months sailing down to the Algarve!

My son and daughter in law live a few doors along from Solent Shores and will be on hand to assist you whilst you are staying and are taking care of all the housekeeping and gardening etc.

Second visit to this beautifully located property

  • 5 of 5

Our second relaxing stay in this lovely property. The view is incredible and we were lucky enough to see the Harmony of the Seas a couple of times during our stay. The weather was rather inclement but we were very warm and cosy and able to enjoy the changing weather conditions from the comfortable armchair and sofas.

We did find the traffic calmers a little more irritating this year, perhaps because we have a different vehicle which didn't cope with them so well. This tended to influence our decisions whether or not to go off site. However we find the Waitrose at Lock's Heath very convenient and there is a good Chinese takeaway ay Warsash. Nook and Cranny is good for a very nice if slightly expensive meal.

Magical!

  • 5 of 5

We were coming to Hampshire from overseas, to spend time with family. Pauline & Giles made the process so easy, hand-holding thoughout. Once there, they went over-and-above and even put up a Xmas tree and decorations. It was lovely and made for a special & memorable holiday. The bungalow has everything needed, with evident attention to detail. I liked that we had all basic provisions, including soap in the bathrooms. It felt more luxurious than other holiday rentals. Plus, we even had tea & biscuits on arrival. The photos on the website accurately reflect the property and the fantastic view from the window, which you never tire of. Thank you so much Pauline & Giles. We will be back.

Location

From the Owner

Solent Shores was bought in 2006 and has been fully refurbished with a large open plan lounge/dining room/ kitchen to take advantage of the views across the Solent. We bought it as our holiday home and found we weren't going home! Now we are away so much sailing. Friends who have stayed always hate to leave. New beds in 2015 including top of the range king size waterbed which is incredibly comfortable, supportive and doesn't wallow!! many guests have said they want to take it home!

Coast/Beach:

30 Metres from the shores of the Solent, pebble beach can be accessed via slipway in front of property. Stunning walks along the beach or Solent Way to Warsash and Hamble or to the Meon Nature Reserve and Hillhead. Miles of excellent cycle routes through the surrounding farm lanes which have minimal traffic.

Travel:

10 miles from Southampton Air Port. 4 miles from the nearest train station. Outlet shopping at Gunwharf Quay in Portsmouth a great day out with vast range of outlet shops on the waters edge overlooking Portsmouth Harbour and the fantastic Spinnaker Tower
