Beautifully renovated ground floor apartment on secured gated private complex, boasting 2 communal pools and a play area, only 5 minutes by walk from the sea. It can accommodate up to 4 people.

The unit has new furniture and is nicely decorated. It includes 1 bedroom with king size bed and fitted large wardrobe and a sofa bed for 2 people in the living room.

The kitchen/living area has fridge/freezer, 2 ring hob, microwave, toaster and kettle plus a washing machine.

The large family bathroom has a shower and is light and airy.

The shaded patio area can accommodate people to eat outside.

Costa Antigua is a relaxed resort only 10 minutes from the airport, it has several shops like bars, restaurants, pizzeria, tapas bar, mini market, ATM.

Caleta de Fuste is only a 20 minute walk along the seafront or a 3 minute drive by road (by taxi is approx. Euro 4). Caleta is a busy resort for families and couples with sandy beaches, numerous bars and restaurants, play areas for young kids which makes it a great spot for young families.

A further 5 minutes’ drive there are two 18 hole golf courses.

The apartment is well located to use as a base to visit the rest of the attractions the island has to offer, such as the Jandia beaches, Oasis Park zoo and botanical gardens, the sand dunes of Corralejo and Baku water park.

There are 2 big shopping centres within 5 kms radius and beaches all around the area, within 5 minutes by car.

A couple of minutes walk to two bus stops: one is a free service to Atlantic shopping centre, the other which takes you to Puerto del Rosario or Caleta in the other direction.

We are a young couple who fell in love with the island of Fuerteventura. You are welcome to come and spend time in our holiday home, but please treat it as you would with your own home. We live in the UK but like travelling whenever possible.

Why Chiara Santevecchi chose Antigua

We bought the property in Autumn 2014 and renovated completely with new decoration and furniture. We chose Costa De Antigua because it is so near to the airport that it takes very little to get to. The place is relaxing, with all the necessary amenities and far away from the too tourist area in Corralejo where there is movida and foreign crowds. You can enjoy a relaxing holiday, experience the real life of the island but with a sense of feeling at home because several British citizens live in the area. Costa de Antigua is in the middle of the island, meaning that you can escape for daily trip without having to drive extended hours.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is in a nice complex with security gates and CCTV cameras. It offers 2 nice swimming pools and all neighbours are very friendly and available for a chat.

Very happy with everything

We loved the place, the location is great, the apartment has everything we needed, clean and comfortable.

Very happy to have Wi-fi available and we found water in the fridge upon our arrival, which was a nice touch. We definitely want to return, thank you to the owners!!

The smell from the previous smoking occupants was horrendous

The occommodation was not as we would like it all we ask is basic and clean. The bedding was old and inadequate for the time of year, (February). The large deposit taken at time of booking was ridicularly high when the property had many broken items - loo seat, towel rail etc. Pool was very nice. Middle security gate was unnecessary. Position was quite good we were able to get about easily. Sorry to be so negative but I feel we need to be honest.

Owner's Response: We are so disappointed to read your review. We always tell each guest to let us know if there is any concern, and these guests have never raised any questions or requests. We have our trusted property manager living 5 minutes by walk away from the apartment and she has never received any call from these guests, hence we assumed everything was ok. We also take into considerations all our guests suggestions in order to improve the experience. To answer to the guests’ points: Bedding: nobody ever raised concerns but if you had picked up the phone we could have given you an extra blanket or something. There are 3 wool blankets (which may even be too much for the Canaries!) and we have never been told they weren't enough. Deposit: Euros 80. That is the average of the deposit taken from owners in the area, we have researched to make sure we are on the same page. If you also consider that the complex charges Euro 50 for a lost gate key, you understand how the deposit could go very quickly if a guests loses a key. Broken items: our property manager checks the apartment after every check out, she may have oversight it before your arrival, but you could have let us know during your stay. I can confirm they were fixed afterwards. Middlegate: complain to the complex administrator. Position: glad that you like where the apartment is located. We are gobsmacked. We have reviewed these guests positively without knowing that they haven't allowed us to be aware of things they didn't like, which is very unfair because all our reviews on Ownerdirect and Home Away show that we are always on the call to support clients despite living thousands of miles away in the UK!

#10 Caleta Paraiso Costa Antigua

Did what it says on the tin.A 1 bedroom apartment that was clean and easy to keep clean.A couple of minutes walk to two bus stops,1 a free one to Atlantic shopping centre and the other which takes you to Puerto del Rosario or Caleta in the other direction. Only one minor hitch and Chiara sorted tthat within a couple of hours .Apartment can look a litter cluttered but with so many appliances that's hardly surprising.There's an iron and board, television,WiFi router ( very strong signal) microwave,fridge washing machine,toaster and a kettle.There are extensive coastal walks but taxis are very cheap if f you prefer..There are plenty of bars and restaurants.We can recommend the Caracoletes beach front restaurant at Las Salinas . Exceptional value can be had at the cafe in Spar supermarket at Atlanticio centre.at lunchtime.to make for a more enjoyable stay maybe a small air con unit and a small portable table ( fold-up) to use n the terrace. All in all a great value for money apartment in a good location

everything we needed

This apartment is situated away from Caleta de Fuste which was what we wanted, we enjoyed the walk in for lunch every day and of an evening ate in the local restaurants which were only a five minute walk away. Although it says it sleeps 4 people I would say children would be ok on the pull out sofa but not adults. We only used the apartment to sleep in and it was fine, there is a toaster and facilities for self catering but its cheap to eat out so we didn't bother. It was nice to have the use of the washing machine so we didn't bring lots of dirty clothes home! A tip if your'e getting a taxi from the airport, its only 10 minutes but our driver hadn't heard of it and was getting a bit irate, if you tell them it's opposite Stoners bar that may help. The staff in Benny's bar were lovely and helped us find the place. As a lot of ex pats live on the complex its a nice little community and there are two pools which we practically had to ourselves. All in all if you want a bit of winter sun in a quiet (ish) place it does the job. If you go into Caleta de Fuste we ate in Pieros music cafe at lunchtime, its where the shopping centre is, very nice food and friendly staff. Locally we ate in the two restaurants by Benny's bar one is Chinese and the other is called nouveau kwizeen (I know its spelt weird) we had our evening meals in both and couldn't fault them. Chiara the property owner was really good at answering any queries and answered my emails promptly. If we were to visit Fuerteventura again I would use these apartments again. Ooh and one last point, if you walk along the seafront to Caleta there are little chipmunks living in the rocks if you sit on one of the stone benches they will come out to be fed and they love almonds!! Very cute.

wonderful holiday

A friend who stayed in this apartment recommended us to go and visit. We found such a nice atmosphere, we like the complex, people are friendly and we felt safe, the apartment is small and equipped with all you need, including a washing machine.

As for the location, we were not sure if Costa de Antigua was right for us, but the apartment was at a good price and we wanted to try. We must admit that it was much better than being in the crowds of Caleta. Costa de Antigua has all the basic amenities that you need and a stroll along the coast (magnifique by the way) takes you to Caleta in less than half an hour. As a couple in our late 50s that's all we needed. The owners were nice and available for everything, they even sent us a guide to Fuerteventura. We are looking forward to go back!

Not so cheap or cheerful

We arrived at about 11.15am, which the owner said would be OK as it was vacated the day before. The apartment seemed quite smelly but It hadn't been cleaned, so we dumped our bags and went away for a while.

When we returned it still smelled mustydamp, despite an air freshener. I had changed and put my trousers in the wardrobe, they were quickly removed when we got back due to the musty smell there. For the remainder of the holiday we kept our clothes on top of the sideboard in the bedroom.

There was also an awful smell under the sink, where the dinner plates were kept.

We had a problem with the toilet seat, but fair play, this was soon sorted.

The sofabed was not comfortable to sit on for any length of time. Despite another reviewers comment, I found the bed to be very uncomfortable.

The apartment is on the ground floor located about 20 yards from the security gate that everyone uses, so most residents walk by – there is no privacy. Even when we were sitting inside with the patio doors open, people would often say hello when passing.

It could be quite noisy at night as some of the residents didn't seem to realise that their talking, when passing, was quite loud.

Due to the location of the apartment, the patio area gets no sun and the prevailing wind comes straight across it as there is nothing to stop it.

Previous reviews have said “well maintained apartment”, “very quiet on a night time”, “Comfortable apartment”, “Nicely decorated, well-kept and everything is impeccable”, and the description says renovated in November 2014.

All I can say is that it has deteriorated a lot in 20 months, and it is lot more cluttered than the photos suggest -and darker. Inside was clean but patio and chairs had not been cleaned, and dinner table dirty.

The price does not include the final clean nor sheets and towels, which I feel is misleading (who takes sheets and towels on holiday when luggage is so expensive?). Yes, it is on the details if you search, but it should be included, and in fact made the cost of this apartment dearer than others we were looking at.

We only chose this apartment as the Costa Tropical round the corner, where we usually stay, was fully booked. We actually went to the hotel the day we arrived to see if they had any rooms (sadly they hadn't) - I would gladly have lost the money on the apartment to have moved.

It depends what you like but this apartment was not suitable for us, I couldn't recommend it and wouldn't ever go back.

Owner's Response: These guests have been a bit of a nightmare since day one.After booking they complained saying that the cleaning fees were hidden, when the Rates page clearly state all details and costs. Some guests in the past wanted to bring their own towels and also the website puts a fee on everything including cleaning fees,therefore we opted to keep them out of the main price. Once they arrived they started complaining that the toilet seat wasn't stable and because of health issues it was dangerous for them. Also that they didn't like the apartment smell.We've arranged for somebody to go and have a look promptly and see what needed resolving (we don't live in Fuerteventura so we couldn't go ourselves bit we're always available via email or phone) so that their concerns were looked into. Despite this they weren't happy about their holiday who knows for how many other reasons. We personally find it funny that they didn't like people from the complex saying hello, and the wind is something that belongs to Fuerteventura, I'm sorry it's not something that we can stop. As for the sun, we chose to buy that apartment because of the shaded terrace which is a relief from the hot sun especially in peak hours. As for the noise:it's July!!it's peak season so there's people everthere! What we personally think is: -if you can't use an online booking system, please don't book online and then complain that you didn't see what was included and what not. -if you have health issues I would suggest you to go to a hotel with full facilities and full board treatment,don't book a self catering accommodation in a private complex. -nobody of our guests in 2 years have complained about the smell and, anyway, the cleaner does her best to make the apartment nice and presentable before every guest's arrival. We have heard from the complrx administrator that there were problems with the waters in the area last month so it must have been that. When we go there there's never a problem so they must have been unfortunate. -Fuerteventura is in the Canaries which are expensive islands, however we keep costs very low so if you want a concierge service, you'll better go to a hotel were you'll pay a premium for it. My recommendation for other home owners is to be careful with these guests as they are troublesome. I'm glad not all guests are like them.
