Now our children are off to university and exploring the world we don't get to use our lovely house as much as we used to. So we've decided to share it with others!

Why Claire Poynton chose Horning

We are not party animals, we like the peace and quiet of the location of our property but also that we can walk to the village with its pubs and shops.We also like the fact that there is so much to do in the area. We enjoy boating, fishing, cycling - nice and flat! and bike hire 5 minutes away. There are lovely walks locally, some beautiful beaches only a 20 minute drive away, and Norwich with its shops, cathedral and cobbled streets 30 minutes away. But most of all its just a wonderful place to relax!

What makes this house unique

We love its location - tucked away down a private drive but still next to the water. It really is a great place to unwind.

smashing property

the property was a big hit with us. Plenty of room ever so clean and tidy etc. Nice views out the front and nice to be able to feed the young ducks and geese from the back balcony. A shame there are no decent riverside walks close to the property but this would not put us off coming back there. We do think Owners Direct should improve there website to make things easier to book and ask questions without having to put personal details most of the time. worked ok when we asked questions direct to the owner.

Hello Claire

Sadly Chris and I didn't make it to Horning as Chris has had a medical condition which prevented us from travelling. However our friends went on their own. They said it looked just as we had left it 2 years ago. They loved its location. Said it was very clean and comfortable as we had all remembered.

We were very disappointed not to go, but it's just a fact of life.

Very comfortable property

We stayed with friends and brought their boat over. Using the slipway by the Swan Inn pub (key from newsagent) we had the boat on the water in minutes. As we couldn’t get into Southwood until 4pm we spend the day on the broads before returning and using the property’s mooring. When you’re used to fitting in with tides it is a delight to be able moor up or cast off whenever you want.

There was room at the front of the house for the trailer and car. The house is just a few minutes from the centre of Horning so it is ideal for trips to the pub...

Southwood is an upside-down house with the living area and kitchen upstairs. It is a large open plan room with a ceiling open to the apex. Everything seemed to be catered for in the house. We were lucky with the weather and made use of both balconies, the one at the back overlooking Southwood’s mooring and the one at the front with views over the sailing club to the Bure river.

All in all a great stay and one we aim to repeat.

Christmas lights welcomed our arrival to this beautiful house.

We had a fantastic week over the New Year. Everything and more we could have wanted. Cosy warm and welcoming. Lovely comfy beds. Hot showers to warm the body after days spent fishing in the river outside. The kitchen had more equipment than our own homes!

Fantastic attention to detail making for a comfortable and enjoyable time for all.

Caught the train to Norwich for some sales shopping. Went to Roy’s in Wroxham and Latham’s.

We all enjoyed ourselves and no one wanted to leave.

Would recommend this house to anyone. And the owners were very helpful answering any questions we had about the area and places to go to eat or drink.

Would go back in a heartbeat!
