Holiday Home near Polzeath, Wadebridge, England - One Mile From Polzeath Beach And 2 Minutes Walk From A Footpath Across Our Farmland To The Coast

The Wheat Store is located in a peaceful setting at one end of our traditional Cornish farmhouse. It has stunning views and is newly furnished in a contemporary style.

It is ideally located for surfing at Polzeath, sailing at Rock, cycling the Camel Trail and walking the Coastal Footpath. Padstow can be reached by ferry from Rock or by cycling along the edge of the Camel Estuary from Wadebridge. The picturesque fishing village or Port Isaac is only 5 miles away.

Because the Wheat Store has central heating and a cosy wood burner it is ideal for short winter breaks as well as summer holidays

About Clare Parnell

Mike & Clare Parnell live in Carruan farmhouse adjoining the property. Clare grew up at Carruan and it remains a family farm which is now run by Mike, Clare and their nephew Philip.

The farm has 1000 breeding ewes. The main lambing is for a month from the end of January and a smaller flock in March and April. 140 calves are bought from a local dairy farm in February and reared through to sale at 18 - 20 months. The farm also grows wheat and barley. Although most of the farm buildings are situated away from Carruan there is still plenty going on should guests want to get involved - perhaps helping move sheep to fresh pastures aided by the 4 working dogs.

This is a family farm that was bought by Clare's father in 1958. It is a fabulous place to live and work.

There is no washing machine in the property but guests can use the washing machine in the owner's utility room which is easily accessible Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included except for beach towels. A complimentary basket of logs is provided for the wood burner. If you would like any groceries ready for your arrival, just give us a couple of days notice and we will have them waiting for you. Other: The entrance hall is spacious with a coat and boot cupboard.

All the comforts of home, in breathtaking Cornwall

The Wheat Store is a beautiful property; we had everything we needed for our week here. What made our stay memorable, in addition to the apartment and its surroundings, was the helpfulness of the owners. We had to deal with a medical emergency; Clare and Mike helped us out in ways large and small. We will never forget their kindness. We would return to this property in a heartbeat.

An extremely comfortable and relaxing stay

We've just got back from 12 nights at the Wheat Store and loved staying in this apartment.

On first arrival we both commented that the photos do not do the apartment justice in terms of size. The bed is comfortable and enormous as is the reclining sofa. The dining and kitchen area is spacious for two people, it is well equipped with a great induction hob. Heating, if needed, is extremely responsive and the bathroom has a powerful hot shower. Wifi is fast allowing for smooth streaming of films / TV (we brought our own Apple TV and Bose Mini Sound speakers). As the weather can be variable in Cornwall, this apartment was a great place to 'hang out' in - watching the changing scenes from the comfort of the sofa - low sash window allowed us to watch some beautiful sunsets of over the sea.

Whilst the accommodation is connected to the owners home we found it a very private and a quiet place to stay and not overlooked at all. A separate private garden area, with Weber BBQ, seating and washing line was also useful. We used the Mike and Claire's washing machine a couple of times, accessible in the utility room below the Wheatstore.

As far as location is concerned, you definitely need a car to get around, unless you wish to walk down to Polzeath (20mins). But we loved the fact that we were so close to beautiful coastline but adequately set back from the hustle and bustle of the sea front. There are great places to eat near by - we would highly recommend the Mowhay Cafe in Trebetherick and Port Gaverne hotel / inn near Port Issac. If staying in, a fantastic butchers, bakers and general store are just a short drive away. Tescos delivered for us on our arrival - the nearest large supermarket is about 25 mins away - which was also helpful.

Mike and Claire are excellent hosts, warm and open. Readily available by text or in person to answer any questions we had.

Lovely apartment in peaceful location with beautiful views over fields to the sea

My son and I really enjoyed our stay. We were close to the beach where we met up with friends and the boys could go surfing, yet in the evening we had the peace of being away from the crowds-time for me to relax and watch the birds swooping across the fields, and for my son to use his Playstation or watch a dvd. The apartment was spacious, well appointed and tastefully decorated, and the huge sofa was so comfortable!

Great apartment, comfy bed, terrific views, wonderful attractions nearby

We have stayed at many holiday homes all over the world and yours was one of the finest. The sea views, walking on the coast paths nearby and the food and views from Polzeath restaurants were fabulous. And finally, visiting the Eden Project and biking on the Camel Trail were highlights of our trip. Great apartment, great beds, well-supplied kitchen.
