Overview

About the property

Holiday Home near Polzeath, Wadebridge, England - One Mile From Polzeath Beach And 2 Minutes Walk From A Footpath Across Our Farmland To The Coast

The Wheat Store is located in a peaceful setting at one end of our traditional Cornish farmhouse. It has stunning views and is newly furnished in a contemporary style.

It is ideally located for surfing at Polzeath, sailing at Rock, cycling the Camel Trail and walking the Coastal Footpath. Padstow can be reached by ferry from Rock or by cycling along the edge of the Camel Estuary from Wadebridge. The picturesque fishing village or Port Isaac is only 5 miles away.

Because the Wheat Store has central heating and a cosy wood burner it is ideal for short winter breaks as well as summer holidays

About Clare Parnell

Mike & Clare Parnell live in Carruan farmhouse adjoining the property. Clare grew up at Carruan and it remains a family farm which is now run by Mike, Clare and their nephew Philip.

The farm has 1000 breeding ewes. The main lambing is for a month from the end of January and a smaller flock in March and April. 140 calves are bought from a local dairy farm in February and reared through to sale at 18 - 20 months. The farm also grows wheat and barley. Although most of the farm buildings are situated away from Carruan there is still plenty going on should guests want to get involved - perhaps helping move sheep to fresh pastures aided by the 4 working dogs.

Clare Parnell purchased this apartment in 1950

Why Clare Parnell chose Saint Minver Highlands

This is a family farm that was bought by Clare's father in 1958. It is a fabulous place to live and work.

What makes this apartment unique

If guests would like to learn more about the farming they are very welcome to get involved.

Having lived in this area all their lives Mike and Clare have a lot of knowledge about the best places to visit and are very happy to share that knowledge with guests

Guestbook comments from the owner

All the comforts of home, in breathtaking Cornwall

  • 5 of 5

The Wheat Store is a beautiful property; we had everything we needed for our week here. What made our stay memorable, in addition to the apartment and its surroundings, was the helpfulness of the owners. We had to deal with a medical emergency; Clare and Mike helped us out in ways large and small. We will never forget their kindness. We would return to this property in a heartbeat.

A wonderfully relaxing place to stay..highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Wheat Store for a few days in February and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Despite the cold and wind, the property was warm and welcoming and has far reaching views. Ideally located and within easy reach of the coastal path and the villages of Port Isaac and Polzeath. Mike and Claire are great hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. We look forward to returning sometime soon.

Warm and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This is a superb apartment. We stayed over a very stormy New Year, but we enjoyed walks directly from the property and then returned to a warm and comfortable apartment. We will definitely return.

fantastic views from every room.very modern apartment clean, warm & welcoming.best place Iv stayed in

  • 5 of 5

From the minute Clare took me into the apartment, walked down the hall way & saw the view of the countryside, sea & Polzeath,i said wow!! Clare & her husband mike are very friendly & welcoming.anything you needed they were a phone call or a knock at their door no problem.ie Mike made up the wonderful log burner WOW it was lovely to sit there feet up looking out of the window towards the sea which was fantastic & relaxing.the awaiting cream jam scones & milk a lovely personal touch.every room was clean, tidy & modern.a lovely kitchen with breakfast bar to eat & look out to sea every morning (very difficult to move from there as transfixed with view) bathroom everything you would need very spacious.bedroom lovely with 2 windows, plenty of room, huge bed.could do with a long mirror as only had a dressing table one-ONLY negative.the log burner was lovely had to turn off the rest of the heating (went in December)as too hot but so worth it.the farm is very quiet had no noise apart from the welcoming barks from their lovely sheep dogs.the car park space was right next to the apartment very handy when returning when it was raining.you need to travel to get anywhere but I knew this looking at the location of the property but the views from the windows stopped me from going out sometimes anyway.i was staying there on my own but never felt alone as being attached to Clare & Mikes farm house I felt very safe & secure.this is the best Hoilday property Iv ever stated in,location, accommodation & proprietors.thank you.

Comfortable well equipped apartment

  • 5 of 5

The Wheat Store is a lovely apartment for 2 people, with plenty of space and lots of little touches which help to make it very comfortable. It is in an ideal location to explore the coast path around this part of Cornwall. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering, and we had a very relaxing few days there.
