Stunning Sandbanks Holiday Home

Updated: 10-Oct-2016
House in Sandbanks, Dorset, England - Perfectly situated just a 5 minute stroll from the award winning sandy beach and all its amenities

The location, size and specification of this home are what make it truly unique. Although it is only a pleasant 5 minute stroll from the beach, the location itself is extremely tranquil and tucked away, making this the ideal holiday destination.

The stylish first floor accommodation includes a sumptuous master bedroom with deluxe ensuite wet room, 2 further bedrooms (one with doors opening onto a juliette balcony) and a family bathroom. The downstairs living accommodation is extremely spacious, and what is particularly lovely is the fact that all the reception rooms including the contemporary living room and fully equipped kitchen/diner, all open out onto a beautiful, private and sunny Mediterranean style landscaped garden. The patio area itself also benefits from an electric awning for comfort, and patio furniture and BBQ are provided for you to enjoy as much time outside as possible during the summer months. On cooler days, or if you want to relax out of the sun (thanks to the full window and ceiling blinds), then the light and airy conservatory is the ideal place to unwind, and it also enjoys a lovely aspect over the garden with french doors again leading directly onto the patio. Also on the ground floor is the utility/laundry room with access to a useful outside deck area with washing line, and an additional double bedroom and shower room, perfect if you are holidaying with relatives.

‘Bauhinia’ is fully equipped with everything you need for a fantastic holiday, with lots of additional items provided to make your life easier such as beach towels and picnic blankets, so you can just sit back, relax and enjoy the comfort of this wonderful and peaceful holiday retreat. Free wifi. Sleeps up to 8 people in one super king bed, 2 doubles and one single with full size pull out guest bed, which can also be made into a King bed if required. Particularly suitable for families with lots of additional baby/toddler items and toys available, please ask. Driveway with parking for 3 cars.

The location of the house is just perfect - It is peaceful and tree lined yet the award winning sandy beach and all the amenities of Sandbanks are just a short 5 minute stroll away.

Sandbanks Peninsula:

The main attraction of this beautiful and exclusive location has got to be the award winning sandy beach. Sandbanks beach is part of the main stretch of golden sand, which reaches all the way from Poole Bay and as far as Christchurch harbour. You will find an array of amenities on offer close by including restaurants, cafes and shops. A wide range of watersports is available at the Watersports Academy next to the Sandbanks hotel, and windsurfing tuition is available at Whitley Bay.

Area Highlights - Visitors should definitely consider using the Sandbanks chain ferry (15 mins walk) to cross over the water to the Isle of Purbeck. Here you will find gorgeous unspoilt beaches as well as the famous sand dunes of Studland.

Also on the Isle of Purbeck, you could take a trip on the historic Swanage steam railway, and take in the beautiful countryside views before enjoying a day at the traditional seaside town www.swanagerailway.co.uk. Or stop off and have a wander around the picturesque village of Corfe Castle - the old ruins of the castle itself are definitely worth a visit.

Another lovely place to visit is nearby Compton Acres historic gardens – about a 5 minute drive from Sandbanks. www.comptonacres.co.uk

Restaurants - The Sandbanks hotel is a great place for a bite to eat overlooking the water on the terrace, and during summer season offers a kids club and entertainment. Or why not enjoy a leisurely brunch at Jazzy’s café at Shore road, which also regularly hosts live music nights. For a special treat book yourself in for afternoon tea at the nearby Haven Hotel next to the chain ferry. The close by villages of Penn Hill, Lilliput and Canford Cliffs offer an even wider selection of bars, cafes and restaurants.

Across the chain ferry at Studland, you must sit outside in the gardens of the Bankes Arms Country Inn to enjoy the magnificent views over Bournemouth and Poole, or try the newly opened ‘Pig on the Beach’ for some fantastic food.

The nearby towns of Bournemouth and Poole are both very close by.

Bournemouth Beach is the liveliest section of the beach and well worth a visit. It's a short journey away or a lovely coastal walk along the beach from Sandbanks. It hosts an array of activities for families including fairground rides, amusements and a wide variety of restaurants and cafes. A particular attraction is the traditional Bournemouth Pier where you can relax with a drink and enjoy those spectacular views. The famous air festival takes place in early September.

Area Highlights - Bournemouth gardens are particularly lovely to stroll through or sit with a picnic and watch the entertainment during the summer months. The gardens lead from the beach up to the main shopping area with all its high street shops and boutiques.

If you’re good with heights, then book a ride in Bournemouth’s highest attraction, the ‘Bournemouth Balloon’ and enjoy a panoramic view of the English Channel as far as 20 miles. www.bournemouthballoon.co.uk

Kids will also love the Bournemouth aquarium on the sea front.

Restaurants - Recommended restaurants close to the sea front include West Beach restaurant and Aruba bar/restaurant both next to the pier, and The Crab seafood restaurant on Exetor Road.

Poole Harbour is Europe’s largest natural harbour. There is a bustling Quay and Marina for some lovely walks along the coast, and a vast array of watersports available from exhilarating rib rides to leisurely Heritage Coast cruises. Here you will also find everything from jet skiing & kite surfing to sailing tuition to really make the most of this idyllic nautical location. See www.coastwiththemost.com

Area Highlights: Poole Quay and Old Town. Poole Quay is a great place to visit for all the family, and is lined with restaurants, attractions and shops, including the famous ‘Poole Pottery’. Many people enjoy crabbing off the quayside or just simply sitting in a café and watching the world go by. Poole old town has a fascinating history – you could even join a guided tour of the most haunted locations!

See the Fireworks Display Thursdays 10pm at Poole Quay during the summer

Brownsea Island – Take a boat from Poole Harbour and visit this beautiful and historic National Trust site. The island regularly hosts events for children during the school holidays, and is one of the few remaining homes of the native Red Squirrel. See www.nationaltrust.org.uk/brownsea

Families with children will enjoy the attractions at Tower Park, which include a waterpark, bowling, cinemas and large indoor soft play. www.towerparkentertainment.co.uk

A superb holiday home

  • 5 of 5

Our party of six adults and two small children stayed here for the Spring Bank Holiday week. It is a lovely, comfortable and spacious property and had everything we needed for a very enjoyable week. Anna was very helpful, replied to questions promptly and supplied equipment such as stair gates for the three year-old. There are lots of toys, books and games for all ages and an attractive patio garden. The property is in a quiet road only a short walk from the beach and ferry. We had a nice day out, taking the bus across on the ferry to Swanage and the steam train from Swanage to Corfe. The Cliff at Canford Cliffs is a good pub to visit for lunch or an evening meal and is only about ten minutes' drive away. We would thoroughly recommend a holiday at Bauhinia and hope to return in the future.

An oasis in the heart of Sandbanks

  • 5 of 5

Well what can I say about our stay at this lovely oasis??

We had a fantastic 2 week stay at the end of September/beginning of October. Just the 4 of us (2 adults, a 3 year old and a 12 week old). We booked the accommodation as it seemed to have a large downstairs areas should we be limited by the weather.

Well we weren't disappointed on all fronts. The accommodation seemed to go on and on! It could easily accommodate bigger parties.

Approached by what initially seems just a front door, it opens through into very large private accommodation, with an equally secluded garden. A home from home (well I wish it was our home!), lots of extra touchs which make packing easier; selection of toys and books for the children, bits for the beach etc.

We were very lucky with the weather, with sun all but 1 day of our stay.

The location is second to none, we've stayed on sandbanks before, but this location is on one of the residential streets in the middle, not the main perimeter road.

It's a 5 minute walk to the beaches, ferries to studland and brownsea Island.

We spent lots of time on the beach, visited brownsea, bournemouth, poole, christchurch and swanage.

The booking was easy and Anna was really helpful with lots of useful tips on the locality and our stay generally. Any queries during our stay were also responded to swiftly.

So to provide further proof of our review, we're visiting again this summer... And we can't wait! Fingers crossed for some true Sandbanks weather!!

Modern Property : Very Quiet

  • 5 of 5

This is a modern house in excellent condition in a very quiet area, however only yards away from Sandbanks beach. We arrived during March and the weather was sunshine all week we could have not wished for better.

It was so easy to travel out to all the surrounding areas and visit our favorite places.

There was only three of us in the house, however easy accommodate eight, nearly everything we required was in the house.

We will be going again simple as that.

A wonderful place to stay! I can here for a long weekend with my family and couldn't have been more impressed! Facilities were wonderful and everything was finished to an extremely high standard. So close to the beaches and not far from Bournemouth. I could recommend the place more!

An Excellent Base for an Excellent Family Holiday.

  • 4 of 5

The property was exactly as described. The accommodation was very good. Would have liked a shower in the second bathroom. The property was clean and in very good condition. The facilities eg fridge, dish washer, washing machine were all good and it was nice to have access to all the machine instructions. Wifi was a bit in and out and the TV did suffer occasional picture break up but I guess these problems were due to location. It was about five minutes from the excellent beach as advertised. It was good to have suggestions for restaurants and attractions and we used that advice. Have to say that we were very disappointed with the Jazz Cafe. Perhaps they had a bad day. We enjoyed The Crab in Bournemouth, The Pig on the Beach, The Haven (for afternoon tea) and The Cliff hotel(?). Compton Acres was revisited and enjoyed. The Oceanarium was a s anctuary on a wet day. Brown sea Island was a great day out. Two Oldies, three adults and two under sixes thoroughly enjoyed their holiday and would consider booking again and would recommend it to friends.
