Cottage in Corcitos, Querenca, Nr. Loule, Central Algarve, Portugal. - Peaceful Loc. On The Edge Of The Fonte Benemolmola With 1.5 Acres Of Fenced Garden

Lemon-tree-cottage is located in the quiet hamlet of Corcitos just 2 km from the pretty village of Querença with its beautiful XIV century church, bars, restaurant and mini-market. A tranquil haven away from the pressures of hectic modern-day life and yet, it is close to everything that you need (banks, supermarkets, pharmacies etc. in Loule). Corcitos is just 25~30 minutes easy drive from Faro airport and ideally located to explore the whole Algarve. A day-trip into the Alentejo is easily achieved as Corcitos is well connected to the key roads. For those who want to enjoy country walks Lemon Tree Cottage is ideally placed. The track to the Fonte de Benemola passes within 30m the entrance to Lemon Tree Cottage. Walkers and birdwatchers on a 2 week stay can find a different walk every day without repetition.

The Cottage is located in fully fenced grounds of about 1.5 acres with entrance via remote control electronic gates. There are plenty of seating areas around the pool terrace and gardens to enjoy the sun or shade.

The upper orchard and lower Horta provide a variety of fruit (Orange, Lemon, Lime, Apricot, Plums, and Figs) which you can help yourself to when in season.

The pool is 12 x 5m and mildly saline, with about the same salinity of a tear drop. So no chlorine or stinging eyes.

An outdoor rattan sofa set, additional 4 seater Bistro set and swing seat have been added in 2016 in partially shaded locations near the cottage to provide cooler spots for guests to enjoy. A gas BBQ is available. A pool table can be made available by request.

The cottage is fully air conditioned at no extra cost.

About the Owner

We are an ex-geologist and botanist that love the countryside, fresh air and peace & quiet. Now we work in IT & a school and just love getting away to Portugal to enjoy the stress free living in this area of the Algarve.

We love driving on the empty roads, the local food and wine and working in the garden with blue sky above us.

After travelling extensively we first came to the Algarve in 2013 looking for a place for a holiday home and a place to retire to. We stayed at a number of B&B's along the length of the Algarve but decided the area north of Loulé was the perfect location away from the busy coastal strip but within easy reach of most places along the Algarve and into Spain and so we decided to buy a property in the tranquil hills overlooking Loulé.

lemon-Tree-Cottage is Ideal for walkers, cycling (bikes are not provided) and bird watching.


Many of the central Algarve beaches are a short drive away. Quarteira beach is 25 minutes by car and Quarteira water park (Aquashow) 20 minutes. Faro beach can be reached in a 30 minute drive.


Faro airport is just 25~30 minutes drive from Querenca via easy roads.

Car hire is essential.

Lisbon and Seville airports are about a 2-2.5 hour drive away.

Santander and Bilbao ferry ports are about a 10 hour drive away.

Faro is 18 km

An ideal location for a chill-out holiday away from the busy coastal resorts. Traffic in the hills is light even in summer and there are plenty of good restaurants just a short drive away serving splendid local specialities and a good wine for reasonable prices. The market town of Loule is just a 15 minute drive away with a daily market & plenty of supermarkets and shops.

We love the peace and tranquillity of our location here in Corcitos. The pool, garden and orchards are our joy. We can go for many varied walks without having to use the car. We love birds and they abound here. We regularly hear the Tawny Owls, Nightingales, Golden Orioles and many other songbirds. We love the easy access to and from Faro airport and the convenient flights between Faro and UK. Loule is a wonderful local town and offers us everything we need in just a short 15 minute drive. We love the many restaurants in the hills that offer great value and quality compared to the more coastal areas.

  • Notes on accommodation: Beach chairs are available for guest use, to save the rental costs charged on many of the Algarve beaches. All patio doors have direct access to the pool terrace. Outside: Enjoy use of the private 12 x 5 m salt-water swimming pool that is naturally heated and usually achieves 30°C (or more) during the summer months. The pool benefits from the latest non-chemical, sanitation process that is kind to your skin. The property is fully fenced, has automatic gates and plenty of outside lighting to enjoy warm summer evenings. The 1.5 acres of gardens have shaded pergolas and verandas from which to enjoy alfresco dining. There are plenty of tiled terraces around the pool for relaxation. Set in a peaceful location in the hills above the old market town of Loule with panoramic views of the countryside. Enjoy oranges, lemons, figs, plums, nectarines and almonds from the extensive orchards when they are in season. Sit in the shady gardens at any time of the day and enjoy the sound of silence. A sand boules area is available in the lower garden with seating nearby to enjoy boules, badminton, beach volleyball or beach tennis (net & equipment provided). Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The housekeeper services the property weekly on stays >10 days changing bed linen / towels. Bath and hand towels are provided, as are kitchen and pool towels. There is access to an outside storage unit for pool, beach and sports items. Other: The living area also has a large glass dining table with seating for up to 6 people. The lounge/dinning area has its own air-conditioning/heating unit and all rooms have underfloor heating.
