Romantic quiet cottage situated down a long drive. Nouzieres Deux is an old stone farmhouse with exposed stone walls and oak beams throughout. Surrounded by open farmland, on early mornings or late evenings to may be lucky enough to see wild deer. It has been tastefully modernised recently and is now fully equipped for modern living to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable, yet retains its old world charm. You have your own private pool with spaces to sunbathe and relax, there are also shaded terraces for eating or a cooling drink if the summer sun gets too hot. The bastide towns of Villeréal and Issigeac are only 5 minutes drive away and have an excellent range of restaurants and local services. They have weekly markets on Saturday and Sunday mornings respectively. The weekly markets are the best place to find fresh, local produce, fruit and vegetables and the many regional delicacies and ingredients required in Périgourdin gourmet meals. The market’s other role as a convivial meeting place cannot be underplayed; sauntering past attractively laden stalls, bumping into friends and acquaintances are all part of the market’s charm."
During the previous 12 years before purchasing Nouzières we have explored all the regions in France on holidays. Always staying in gîtes, chambres d'hôtes or small hotels, when the opportunity arose we took the next step and purchased Nouzières Deux. This is our home from home in France and we hope you enjoy our property as much as we do.
Roy & Angie a'Court purchased this farmhouse in 2014
Having fallen in love with the French lifestyle, the people, climate and of course the markets, the Lot et Garonne/Dordogne area seems to fit perfectly with all our plans to retire here. The region is quiet, yet close enough to the essential necessities and we have made a lot of new friends in the short time we have been here.
The location here is quiet and peaceful, you can sit and relax, watch deer across the field, but with the benefits of essential services nearby. It is uniquely located between the historic tourist locations of the Dordogne, vineyards of Bergerac and the bastides of the Lot et Garonne.
We both agreed that your house is absolutely beautiful and we had a relaxing and peaceful time there.
The electric fans came in very useful at night but we are not complaining as the weather was lovely.
A big thank you for the barbecue it came in very handy and it works a treat and surprising easy to clean.
With temperatures in the mid thirties it’s no surprise that the pool got a lot of use.
We did get to see some deer leaping across the fields on our last day which was nice.
We both loved your picture above the fireplace and I think we will be looking to buy one for ourselves.
Thank you again for the use of your house and we will definitely recommend it to our friends and family.
About 30 mins from the airport in rural France. Lovely to see the French markets and take in the French cuisine.
The gite is in a very peaceful position with its own pool. It offers comfortable accommodation for 4 people and it was very clean and well equipped.
Excellent accommodation and pool. The owners have taken a lot of trouble with instructions for using equipment and descriptions of local places to visit.. We think you just have to slow down, enjoy the peaceful countryside, the beautiful bastide towns with their frequent markets, sit and watch the world go by. The website description is perfectly accurate. It is fully equipped for four people, has a beautiful private pool and good views across the countryside. There is a good local maintenance team who provide friendly support. Like many others, we were sorry to leave and will return if we can.
Just enjoyed a relaxing stay at Nouzieres ll in a lovely, classic French stone home surrounded by beautiful gardens. It was everything we hoped for. It is located close to several charming, inviting villages - Villereal, Issegiac, Monflaquin, just to name a few. The house is well-appointed and has everything you need for a great stay. Having laundry facilities and a well-equipped kitchen made it feel like home. We especially enjoyed having the pool during the heat wave. We have vacationed in France many times and this is a place we would return to again.
We have just returned from a wonderful week away and have to say this is one of the best if not the best self catering property we have stayed in. It is well laid out and well furnished and equipped so was very comfortable and enjoyed by us all.
And like one of the previous reviewers we were also very appreciative of the fans as it was a very warm week - so the pool was also well used and tested and given a big thumbs up by the boys.
The property is in a rural area and it was lovely sitting out in a evening with the solar lights prettily changing colours and looking up at the sky and seeing the stars so very clearly.
The boys also enjoyed the DVD's selection (Star Wars) and there was also a good selection of books if you had forgotten to pack your own.
What you do realise is how big France really is so we decided to combine trips out in the morning (such as to the Crytal Cave, St Christophers Rock, a paddle down the Dordogne River as well as the brilliant Crazy golf course) with an afternoon at the pool. The neighbours were friendly as was everyone we met and we tried speaking french which I think was well received if not necessarily correct! As always never enough time to see it all.
The daily ritual of choosing fresh croissants and chocolatines as well as the baguette for lunch (not forgetting the lovely pastries too) was also easy with Villereal just down the road with easy access and parking.
It was a shame to have to come back home but we would recommend this property for anyone looking for a great place to relax and also experience a little taste of French life.
Thank you Roy and Angie for your hospitality, we all had a fabulous time.

This is a beautiful old farmhouse in a gorgeous location with everything you need for great relaxing holiday. We have stayed there twice now and it's hard to beat.

Issegeac 11km, medieval village, weekly market (Sunday), shops and restaurants.

Further Details:
Villereal has a wide range of shops, banks, restaurants and medical services. There is a supermarket with petrol station open 7 days a week during the summer. The weekly market dates back to 1288 and is one of the best in the region, held on Saturday mornings; get there early.
With high quality restoration Villereal is keeping its rich history alive while endeavouring to be a welcoming, peaceful and quiet little town. Villereal wishes to please you simply, sincerely, without pomp and circumstance and warmly welcomes you and offers you its friendship.
Issigeac is a medieval village situated on the edge of the Dordogne near the bordering department of Lot et Garonne which is unlike its many neighbouring bastides; the site first harboured a wealthy Gallo-Roman villa and a Merovingian necropolis before giving way to a 6th century monastery.
Inside the old, circular walls, the narrow roads wind snail-like round and round in a village characterised by light and shadow, stone and wood where the roads, the alleyways, even the shops, live and breathe their medieval past.
The bastide of Castillonnès, founded in 1259 by Alphonse de Poitiers, has a central square with traditional arcades and a covered market hall which has a charming "pepperpot" clock tower. The Town-Hall and the Tourist Office are located in a beautifully restored medieval 'chateâu', originally a tithe barn and later the local governor's house: the property has a beautiful renaissance-style main courtyard. You can see remnants of the old walls as well as vestiges of an old chateâu.
There are many 'famous sights' that we associate with the Dordogne, including Lascaux caves, Marqueyssac gardens, medieval Sarlat, castles such as Chateau Castelnaud and the prehistoric caves in the Vezere Valley. Yet it is the places that you visit outside these 'hot-spots' that will stay longest in your memory - the scenery, the peace, the coffee in a small café the picnic next to a stream.
