Casa Naranja - 3 Bedroom Modern Villa Between The Mountains And The Sea

Updated: 12-Oct-2016
Villa in Busot, Costa Blanca North, Spain - Peaceful Spanish Mountain Village But Only 10 Minutes Drive To The 5 Mile Muchavista Beach

Casa Naranja, an officially Registered Tourist Property in the Alicante region, number VT444780-A, forms part of a small urbanisation on the edge of the old and charming village of Busot. Naranja or orange comes from all the orange details that the house has acquired from the awning to the cushions, a bit of a theme! The nearest shops and bars are 400m away with the old village being about about a kilometre away. It is possible to arrive and stay without a car but hiring or bringing a car is highly recommended. All rooms are fitted with high quality Panasonic Air Conditioning providing heating or cooling as required by the season. The house space totals 94 sq metres. Please look at all my photos on here to get a good idea of this amazing and surprising part of the world. More information can be found online. I have owned the house for almost six years and welcomed many guests, we have enjoyed some great times. Now the house needs to earn its keep as we say, this has been a new venture for me to be a host, it has been joyful to receive so many five star reviews from rental guests over the last two years. A beautiful and well maintained community Pool and Jacuzzi is located just behind the house. Enjoy the mountain views from the large terrace while dining outside! A solarium at first floor level with even better views and sun-loungers is accessible from the master bedroom and the upper hall. There is a fully equipped kitchen, a desk computer with web cam and WiFi coverage throughout. This is my lovely second home, my base is in Portsmouth, UK, so it is unlikely that we will meet although I will be very pleased to chat to you via Skype video call at an agreed time and of course communicate via email. My representative in Busot is Sally who lives and works in the village and is a fountain of local knowledge. Sally will welcome you, introduce you to the house and be nearby for any questions that you have during your stay. Sally can organise the loan (small charge) of cots with suitable bedding or high chairs if you have very small children or babies. Sally can even shop for food for you if you are arriving late! She is also the local hairdresser. With high running costs in Spain, the lower Winter rates for staying at Casa Naranja now have a minimum stay of 14 nights. It is now possible to offer a discount rate for long Winter 2016/17 stays (November to February - minimum stay one month) of 800 Euros per month but NOT including electricity and water costs, an initial Utility charge of 300 Euros per month will be added and the surplus returned to you after deducting the relevant electricity and water bills.

About the Owner

Hi my name is Richard Starkey, based in the historic maritime city of Portsmouth, UK. I am also lucky enough to own Casa Naranja in Busot. Spain and want to invite you to share all the happy times we enjoy in this bright, modern house overlooking the mountains of Alicante province. Casa Naranja is of course available for you to rent only when I am not there, so sadly we are unlikely to meet. However I will gladly answer any questions by email before and during your stay and will also be very pleased to chat via Skype at an agreed time. I greatly enjoy travel, photography, local food and meeting new people. To welcome you to the house and help you with any questions during your holiday, I have found Sally who lives in the village and is a fountain of local knowledge!

Great holiday definitely recommend booking this lovely villa

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of four and were looking for a 3 bedroom villa in a relaxing location with the option to visit the beach and restaurants. Villa Casa Naranja is a lovely modern villa that provided all the facilities to make it a comfortable stay. The pool area is well maintained and very inviting. We often had the pool to ourselves and on the occasions that other families used the pool, it was still relaxing as everyone was so considerate and friendly. Busot town is lovely, the entire area is in appealing, the views of the surrounding mountains is stunning. We visited El Campello often, it has a lovely beach and many restaurants to choose from. The children loved the Ice Cream Café opposite Lidl. A favourite for us was the Asia Li restaurant. The Waterfalls are worth a visit it costs us about 20 euros. I hired a bike for a week, having done so on several previous holidays in different countries and cycled some of the most memorable rides through the mountains that I have experienced. From the moment we booked the villa, Richard provided lots of useful information and promptly responded to emails. It was a pleasure to stay in your villa Richard and we would definitely book it again and fully recommend it to others to book. Great holiday, we were sad to leave.

Owner's Response: It is always good to hear of guests who have both enjoyed life at the villa and pool as well as enjoying all the beautiful surroundings. Excellent to hear of bikes being hired, that is a popular local activity.

The property is excellent, well equipped, comfortable and well maintained. The communal swimming pool is excellent, very well designed with thatch umbrellas with pots for cigarettes and litter bins which means that there is no reason for you not to clear up after yourselves.

We had a very enjoyable stay, the only thing is that the restaurants are in the old town and are quite a warm walk in the height of the season but it didn't stop our enjoyment, the supermarkets in El Campella are very well stocked and reasonably priced and having the BBQ's there it meant that we didn't have to go anywhere.

Having the beach towels is very useful for keeping the suitcase weight down.

Richard is very well organised and keeps in touch with you before hand and answers any questions.

Sally is very welcoming giving good information.

You really need to have a car here, so if you like a drink then cab numbers would be useful as they wouldn't be expensive.

Owner's Response: I am grateful to receive another 'excellent' 5 star review and to hear that even more guests had an enjoyable holiday. I am so touched when guests thank me for sharing my home, rental has been paid and yet my guests say they feel it is a home, not just a soulless villa :-) There are indeed a couple of restaurants, as well as several bars, up in the old village of Busot which would be a very hot climb on foot in high summer. But there are some cafe/bars much nearer the villa, at the Sports Centre and the nearest, just behind the petrol station where 'La Gasolina' is owned by Belgians who cook some delicious food. I have assembled a lot of local information in the villa handbook which my guests receive in advance, but there is always room for new ideas, listing the local taxi numbers is a good suggestion!

Great house close to lots of things to do

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at Casa Naranja in Busot. The house has everything you need and is well equipped for a holiday - it's more of a home than a holiday house. We enjoyed eating out on the terrace and sitting in the sun. The pool which is shared with neighbours is big enough that it didn't feel crowded and there are shaded areas to sit under - it's just a minute's walk around the back of the house and you can see it from the back windows.

Richard is a great owner to deal with, as is Sally his rep in Spain (who is English and is a great source of local knowledge and advice).

The villa is at the edge of the village, but just over 5 mins from a good bar with great views and 25 mins walk (at kids pace!) to the town square which has 2 restaurants - and a nice walk downhill after dinner. We ate twice at Ca Tono and couldn't fault it - fantastic food and great value.

There is plenty to do in the area - the caves are a must, as is Guadalest (just over an hour away). El Campello is less than 10 mins drive with plenty of places to eat and a long beach. For a modern tapas experience try Cerveceria de Surena on the front (think it's a chain but the food was good).

The villa is only 45 mins drive from family attractions such as Aqua Natura (great waterpark) and Mundomar (sea-life attraction with dolphins)..

Highly recommended and we hope to be back sometime!

modern, bright villa with everything you need.

  • 5 of 5

Kate & i have were in Busot last year. This year we chose to stay at Richards villa. so glad we did the villa has all you need and more.it is bright, modern and well stocked. the internet and chrome cast works very well. not that we watched much t.v. we loved the La Cova restaurant and the views, try it at night with the whole of Campello lit up. we used the pool after 17;00 as you can get out & about. Also the sun has heated it up enough so as to be refreshing. most times we had the pool to our self's. the views in Busot are truly beautiful and one is only 10 minutes to the beech and shops. we took to using the underground car parks(very cheep) to keep the car cool. Grate value in the markets & lots of fresh vegetables.

so we would like to thank Richard for allowing us to stay at his wonderful villa Casa Naranja. The detail he provided in the hand book, directions and so on is outstanding. the write up and picture gallery are spot on and what you see and read is what you get. (we have stayed at places and they where over written and very out dated pictures)

Towels folded lovely on the beds on your arrival and the little touches that made it feel you were in 5* accommodation. On our return the deposit was refunded within a few days & the whole process from requesting the booking, to the end & receiving our deposit back plain sailing. This villa and it's location in Busot in our opinion is a must. what you see is what you get, actually it's more and fantastic value for money. thank you Richard. Regards Eddie & Kate.

A great time spent in the sun. :-)

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I and our 2 children spent a lovely, sun-filled 9 days in Richard's lovely villa and are more than happy to recommend it as a fantastic place to stay. Very near the airport , and the cities of Benidorm, Alicante, etc,. Busot itself is a quiet , quaint traditional Spanish town and El Campello's beautiful beach is a mere 7 or 8 minute easy drive away with plenty of free parking. The villa itself has everything you could wish for in a home from home. Clean, light and airy, with clear instructions on how everything works (wifi etc).

The pool is in a perfectly manicured, relaxed setting , and is super-clean. Even though it's a shared pool, we never saw anyone else use it during our stay and it felt like our own private pool. We couldn't keep the kids out of it!

Casa Naranja for us was great value for money. Richard was always available via email if we needed to ask him anything. We wouldn't hesitate to go back.

John and Katrina.

From the Owner

I dreamed for many years of owning a holiday home in Spain. I finally became able to start looking in October 2010 and met with estate agents to look at a list of over 30 possible properties, this was actually the first one that we saw, other villas and especially locations compared poorly as we worked through the list. A Norwegian family and I were unsure whether to buy this villa, in the end they bought the adjoining villa and have been excellent neighbours ever since! I have enjoyed many long visits with lots of friends to my second home of Casa Naranja but owning a property here carries many ongoing costs from maintaining the community pool to local and national taxes, hence my new venture to share the house with new visitors who will hopefully love it as much as I do :-)

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Alicante, L'Altet at 34 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Sports Bar, El Carril at 0.4 Kilometres Nearest Ferry : To Algeria from Alicante Port at 25 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Bonalba at 6 Kilometres Nearest Train : Tram at El Campello at 8 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : A70/A7 at 5 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Sports Bar, El Carril at 0.4 Kilometres Nearest Ski : Sierra Nevada, Granada at 418 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Muchavista, El Campello at 9 Kilometres Car: recommended

This area of Spain has a huge number of beaches (with top quality fine sand), the nearest being the 5 mile long Muchavista beach (great also for walking throughout the year), the town beaches of El Campello, all around 10 minutes drive away. Just a little further, about 25 minutes by car or by the TRAM from Campello is the popular Postuget beach in Alicante or in the other direction, the beaches at the gorgeous town of Villajoyosa in about 40 minutes by car or by tram.

Alicante airport is 25 to 30 minutes drive away. The most convenient way to get here and around is with a car. If is possible to get to Busot from the airport by public transport, then/or taxi and there are food shops and eating places in the village but having a car is highly recommended. If you drive 10 minutes to the coast, you can park for free at the station and travel cheaply and quickly on the Alicante TRAM service into the city or to other places on the line.

Busot old village on foot - 1km

Busot El Carril (a few restaurants & bars, not Vegas or Benidorm!) on foot - 500m

Busot Canalobre caves & mountain trails (& a great view) by car - 15 minutes

Alicante by car to the TRAM station and then Tram - 30 minutes

Villajoyosa by car - 40 minutes

Benidorm by car - 50 minutes

Spectacular tour of the mountains, castles, wine estates in various directions by car - all day.

Further Details:

Our little village of Busot, population around 3,500 (although you don't see many people around unless there is a parade or a fiesta!) is a great centre for touring this surprisingly varied and beautiful region by car, by mountain bicycle or on foot. On the slopes of the Cabezón de Oro (Golden Head) with great views of the Alicante area from the mountains right down to the sea. Busot is a typical village of this region with good facilities, a few restaurants from budget to grander and 11 bars!! There are a lot more touring ideas from me and others by viewing the Villa website at www.casanaranja-busot.com or by searching online.

From the Owner

It is the magnificent view by day or night from the mountains right down to the sea at Alicante which strikes all my visitors, perhaps combined with a light and airy house that hopefully feels really welcoming. Soon visitors discover the attractive well maintained pool and then venture over to the nearby newer area of Busot village called El Carril with the sports centre, bars and other shops. Later they may climb up to the old village with a bigger choice of bars and restaurants as well as an information centre offering an improving range of local activities in the surrounding Sierra d'Alicante mountains. My visitors will find that the nearest larger town is El Campello, just 10 minutes drive away with a great waterfront area, wonderful beaches and a range of supermarkets and specialised shops. Try a delicious meal in the La Cova restaurant perched high above the marina with views out to sea or stroll through the archaeological site for thousands of years of history dating back to the original Iberian's. Back in Busot, take the road up the Golden Head mountain to admire the even more breathtaking views than from the villa and to visit the cave complex named after one of the formations that looks like a Candelabra! If you have a day, continue to drive inland, high over the spectacular mountain passes, reaching the amazing village of Guadalest and then descending back to the coast at Benidorm, You can also reach Benidorm, the artists town of Villajoyosa or the fine city of Alicante by easily parking for free in Campello and taking the frequent and comfortable coastal TRAM service. You might attend a grand festival, local fiesta or one of the many Moors and Christians events - highly recommended but beware of explosions during the battle re-enactments. Some of the best are in Mutxamel (another nearby town in September); in Campello in October and of course the superb Busot Moors and Christians a week after Easter every year. You will never be bored here!!
