A compact ground-floor apartment in an idyllic location, with sea-views and dedicated parking, 18 Kelwyn Court is ideal for 'couple' or family use, with a shared garden area and easy access to a 'safe' Beach (10 minutes walk), supermarket and local bus routes. Please note, this is a Friday to Friday let (to enable cleaning)

The main living space is a Lounge/Diner with Kitchen area at one end, and windows which face out over St Ives Bay. Seating and dining space for up to 6 people is available. A Bathroom separates two Bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with bunk beds (suitable for 2 children or possibly 2 adults) and a folding bed. A digital television has 'Freeserve' and a player for the selection of DVD's and videos. For your enjoyment there is a collection of games, puzzles and books. Information about Cornwall and the local area includes books, up-to-date brochures and a set of Ordnance Survey maps, to help you plan your stay. The Kitchen area is well equipped and conveniently arranged. 18 Kelwyn Court is situated close to (but not on) the St Ives Road, with bus routes leading to Penzance, Truro and the Lands End Peninsula. A Supermarket is within 5 minutes walk, and a range of Restaurants can be found in Carbis Bay. A Footpath leads downhill to Carbis Bay Beach (awarded a Blue Flag in 2013) and a coastal path follows the back of the beach offering a picturesque walking route to St Ives. The Carbis Bay train station allows you to use the attractive scenic branch line which links Lelant with St Ives, and the main line at St Erth.

Hi. My name is Nick, and my wife and I own 18 Kelwyn Court. We are currently enjoying retirement and live in Winchester. We have had a long relationship with Cornwall and the South West (my wife is Cornish) and we have made many visits over the years. We regard it as a second home.

We purchased this apartment some 10 years ago and use it as a holiday home. It has been a useful base to allow us to visit the whole County at different times, as well as meeting with relations. We love our occasional trips to this area. Its famous scenery is superb and we enjoy seeing the sea in all its moods. The history of the County adds a further layer of interest to investigate. Footpaths can take us to remote areas and there's nothing like a good dose of invigorating fresh air. Our sons and families take full advantage of sun, surf and beach activities.

Lovely flat, short walk distance to St-Ives

We stayed there for few days and we really enjoyed that place. It has everything you would need. Well located, super close to the Coast Walk. Really highly recommended.

Fabulous Appartment for our New Years stay

We were looking for a reasonably priced property for a long weekend covering the New Year period. I couldn't believe it when I found this little gem. The photo's certainly don't do it justice. The property was spacious (there were four of us), clean and had all the equipment needed for a self catering holiday. My son WAS a little cramped in the bunk bed (we separated them as we were told we could do) as he is 6 foot 4 but it didn't spoil our enjoyment! The property is based in Carbis Bay but it was still easy enough to get into St. Ives either by train, walking (gorgeous views along the coastal path) or a reasonably priced taxi. We did have a bit of an adventure on the first night trying to find the station in the pitch black using the route recommended in the useful info folder! We thoroughly enjoyed the New Year celebrations and I will look forward to visiting this property again.

Great location and everything you need!

We stayed over the Christmas week and were blessed with superb weather. Did loads of walking and enjoyed,the different routes into st Ives.

Our only problem was that we found the bed really uncomfortable but that is just personal.

Would recommend to anyone thinking of visiting. Carbis bay is a great area. Just that bit out of st Ives but near enough to enjoy.

Lovely, well positioned holiday home

Booked for 3 night stay to attend a local wedding. Appartment was just as decribed, lovely and clean. As it was late when we arrived the key safe was a great idea, as friends had to travel to St Ives to collect their keys! The local information which was available was very helpful. The owner was very helpful when booking the apartment - would highly recommend this property.

Nice property

Its a lovely property with plenty of room for both adults and children situated in a beautiful part of the country, the family loved the location and beach, the cleaner did turn up the day we were actually staying which was a bit weird which possibly meant that the property hadn't been cleaned, would definitely visit again.

I'm pleased to note that you enjoyed your stay and would come again The issue about the cleaner arriving late was entirely my fault. I had quoted the wrong date for her. However the previous occupants were friends, who usually stay on the understanding that the apartment is left as they found it. So I would hope that cleanliness would not have been an issue. Eine wunderschöne Wohnung in einer super Lage mit traumhaftem Blick auf die Bucht von Carbis Bay

Wir wurden von der ersten Sekunde an total verwöhnt: Begrüßung mit speziellen Biskuits aus der Region, vollständige Ausstattung, Ruhe aber auch unzählige Empfehlungen vom Vermieter, die uns die Entdeckung so viele wunderschönen Orten, Wanderwege, Sehenswürdigkeiten, Restaurants, etc. Cornwalls innerhalb kürzester Zeit ermöglicht haben. Obwohl weitwohnend, der Vermieter war jederzeit per E-Mail oder sms für uns erreichbar und ggf. immer hilfsbereit. Einzig war ein leichter Feuchtigkeitsgeruch trotz entsprechender Lüftungsanlage zu bemängeln. Das Wetter war durchgehend wunderbar. Alles in allem haben wir die Zeit in dieser schönen Wohnung super genossen und sind dem Vermieter dafür sehr dankbar.

Lelant at 2 Kilometres Nearest Train : Carbis Bay at 0.5 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Carbis Bay Hotel at 0.5 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Carbis Bay at 0.5 Kilometres Car: recommended

Special interest holidays:

Water Sports equipment is for hire (canoes, outriggers and boards) at Carbis Bay as well as tuition if needed. Surfing Schools operate out of Godrevy (NT Car park)

St Ives has a Leisure Centre with pool and gym

Carbis Bay Hotel has a new 'Spa' Facility

Local Horse Riding with beautiful NT treks across the moors.

St Ives is a quintessential seaside town-cum-port with golden sands, and unusual light that has always attracted groups of Artists. It also boasts the Tate Modern Art Gallery, Barbara Hepworth Museum and the Bernard Leach Pottery and Museum.

Coast/Beach:

10 mins walk to Carbis Bay Beach is down Valley Rd and a footpath. It is a safe beach, has lifeguard support, as well as shop, cafe, restaurant and toilets.

St Ives (2 miles) has 4 beaches, one of which (Porthmeor) is for surfing.

Gwithian and Godrevy beaches on the other side of the Bay are within 5 miles and are ideal for beach sports, rock pools and surfing etc.

The South West Coast Path gives access to many remote parts of the cliffs and bays where you can commune with nature!

Travel:

Newquay Airport is 30 miles distant

Penzance(8 miles) is the main terminus for SW Trains from Paddington, although a stop at St Erth and then the branch line to St Ives can drop you off at Carbis Bay itself. Taxis are available at St Erth Station.

Bus routes from St Ives to Penzance and Truro pass by Kelwyn Court.

Cars are our main recommendation for your travel to and from, however

Distances:

Within a radius of 25 miles you will find a great variety of attractions to suit all tastes. Beaches and delightful coastal villages abound. From Mousehole to Mullion, ...from Newlyn to Newquay. National Trust properties, Gardens and Art Galleries are all nearby. Porthcurnow Telegraph Museum and Falmouth Maritime Museum are two major attractions. Why not take in a performance at Minack Open Air Theatre, perched on the cliffs above Porthcurnow?

For children try Flambards Adventure Park, Helston.

Further Details:

Locally in Carbis Bay there is a supermarket, convenience store, post office, take-away food (including a Fish and Chip Restaurant favoured by local people), restaurants of all types and cash machine. Most main banks are in St Ives, along with a doctor's surgery and dental practice.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The apartment is used by our family on a regular basis as a 'retreat' and holiday base. The bunk beds make it very suitable for children, but may also be acceptable to adults as well. A folding bed can also extend the sleeping capacity, but 5 is the maximum. The shared garden also gives children space to play. Please note : no pets are allowed in this complex. Outside: Gardens, mostly of flowering shrubs and grass, surround the properties and are shared by residents. Space for the drying of washing is available and a wooden bench is situated on the sea facing wall, supplemented by folding chairs, stored inside. Utility Room: An entrance porch also houses a washing machine. Vacuum cleaner and iron/ironing board are also available in the airing cupboard. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are not included with this property. Thorough cleaning will take place between bookings. Equipment (vacuum cleaner etc) for minor cleaning is available for your use in the apartment if needed. Contact is available in case of emergency.
