About the property

Cottage in Padstow, Cornwall, England - A Short Walk (2mins) Finds You In The Heart Of Padstow And Beaches Are Not Much Further Along

A small comfortable cottage situated a really short walk from the harbour and town centre. A slightly longer walk will see you on the long expanse of golden sand in the camel estuary or via the ferry to Rock on the opposite side of the river. It is superbly located for all of north Cornwalls attractions out side of Padstow, amusement parks, lots of beaches and cliff side walks. The cottage has two bedrooms and both an ensuite and bathroom, high ceilings with exposed beams. A spiral staircase leads downstairs to the fully equipped modern kitchen with Stoves appliances and a washing machine and dishwasher. There is a bar with high stools which separates the kitchen from and dining and lounge areas. Full central heating and a gas fire keep the cottage cosy and warm and in the summer there is nothing better than leaving the stable door open and listening to the world outside.

The cottage is made of natural slate, exposed walls and floor. Although the cottage gets cleaned between visits the nature of the slate floor means your best white socks may go a bit black. Outside: The cottage, due to its location, central to Padstow has no parking but you can park safely on the road opposite the cottage and have a short 1 / 2 min walk back. There is a car park a short distance along New St. The cottage is on the road into Padstow and can be busy because its Padstow and its beautiful. Please don't stay in Padstow if you are after peace and tranquility :) There is a gate to the entrance of the cottage which can be shut if you need to let your dog out or wish to open the front door completely. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The cottage is cleaned before and after a guests visit. Linen / towels and tea towels can be supplied by our cleaner if you prefer not to bring your own.

Traditional Fishermans Cottage In Padstow Close To All Restaurants The Harbour A
average rating of 4.3 based on 11 reviews

The holiday cottage was fantastic, brilliantly located with a short walk into padstow and although there is no parking at the cottage there is a car park less than a minutes walk away. The only downside was with padstow is how early it shuts all bars close by 11pm and you can't get anything to eat after about 9.30pm except at the Italian restaurant which I don't recommend, overpriced rubbish.

Owner's Response: thanks Gail, its so nice to hear back from people who get and love the cottage. it is in a fab location in a great place. The carpark is close but dont forget you can also park in the street opposite the cottage. Thanks for the feedback on the Italian ! worth steering clear it seems. cheers

Humble Abode

  • 4 of 5

A lovely little cottage, with attention needed in areas ie toilet plumbing, inadequate flushing. As described by owner, traffic noise is a large part of the picture, so do take ear plugs! Pluses are location to harbour/restaurants etc.

Owner's Response: Hi Julia, It is a lovely little cottage i am glad you liked it, very typical authentic fishermans abode, with all mod cons. I shall ask the maintenance man to check the flushing ! The proximity to the harbour etc is a plus but yes the road traffic can be a slight pain, i dont really notice it myself but as said if your after a peaceful stay in Cornwall Padstow is not the location, a busy pretty coastal town with fab restaurants and beaches. Cheers

great cottage short walk to harbour

  • 5 of 5

We came for the May Day experience. The cottage location was superb with the town centre so close.

The cottage was easy to find, with a quick unload outside, we were in. It was clean and had all the things you would expect for a comfortable stay on first inspection.

The cottage is open plan downstairs but we (4 adults) were perfectly comfortable - loved the slate walls and floor very original. With four adults two bathrooms was really handy ! and all slept well on the beds.

Andy advised us on some of his favourite places and we tried Prawn on the lawn and the London Inn ( amongst other establishments).

All in all a great stay at this cottage and would recommend it if your basing yourselves in Padstow - May day was fab too !!

Quirky fisherman's cottage

  • 3 of 5

Situated 5 minute down hill walk from the very picturesque Padstow harbour. The cottage is on the main road into Padstow. This can make loading/unloading a bit tricky and overnight parking is at the nearby pay and display car park. So add £9 per night to the cost of your holiday.

The accommodation itself is quaint. It is a fisherman's cottage and therefore not spacious. Not much natural light and access upstairs is via a steep spiral staircase which could be tricky for some. Don't bring bulky luggage. The downstairs floor is natural flagstone, a little uneven and black which adds to the impression of darkness. Upstairs, the two bathrooms are great but the sink in the ensuite is unnecessarily tiny. Also if you of a smaller stature then bring your own mirror because the mirrors in the property are placed for people over 5' 5". The property is reasonably clean and well appointed but feels a little "tired". Kitchen has everything you need although instructions for the cooker would be handy as the markings to operate the oven have almost disappeared.

If you like a quirky house then this is the place for you.

Finally I would echo other reviewers comments that Andy can be slow to respond to enquiries. So be patient.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your feedback. It is appreciated. As pointed out this fishermans cottage is original and yes well placed for Padstow and the local beaches. As mentioned on the cottage details parking can be at the car park or as directed, on the road opposite the cottage, free and a short walk back and a small price to pay for its proximity to the Harbour etc. The cottage is a two bedroom original fishermans cottage with exposed slate floor and walls which with its location can make it feel dark sometimes, but it is welcoming, fortunately when the sun shines it does so into the cottage or we have plenty of lights too. The mirror in the twin room and the mirror in the main bathroom are at a suitable height and size for shorter people. The en-suite has a small designer Italian sink. Nice but if you need a full sized one that can be found in the family bathroom. We shall put instructions for the oven in the cottage, thanks for that feedback ! The cottage had an internal repaint earlier this year, with the addition of new soft furnishings to freshen and modernise giving it a subtle sea side theme. Guilty as charged regarding my response time - i try to respond quickly but like most i have a hectic work life so it can take me a day or two ! as they say in Cornwall - i'll get to you dreckly !

Awesome Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We found the property with ease. The cottage has lots of character and charm. I was visiting from California and wanted to stay in a property with personality. My mother choose this cottage and it was perfect. Had everything we needed. Location is great, a few minutes walk to Padstow harbor and you can actually see the ocean from the front bedroom and living room. Andy was fast to response when we contacted him. I would recommend this cottage for your Cornwall get away.

Another perfect stay

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to the cottage this year! Since our previous stay in the spring the owner had updated soft furnishings and decorated some of the rooms. Not that it needed improving! but we really did love the extra touches. We had a super stay and even though it was summer season parking was not an issue. Will we return, yes!
