The Boathouse was build by my Grandfather in 1922. My wife and I have rebuilt the house since we took over from my mother in 1997. I have been coming to The Boathouse since I was 6 months old and it then belonged to my Grandfather and Grandmother. I was taught to sail at the Boathouse in a dingy given to me by my Uncle who built the boat for my cousin, we still have her in the shed at the house. One of my other cousins now has the boathouse next door. We all love the house and think it is very special and I hope you come and experiance it for yourself. It is set up for use by the family and we share it with guests.
Stephen Maltby purchased this cottage in 1997
I have owned the property since 1997 when it was handed down, my mother inherited the house in 1968 from her father who built the house in 1922 so it has been in the family since first being built. The house is very special and holds thousands of happy memories. I was taught to sail on the Broad in the early 1960's and my children were taught to sail in the same way, my cousin next door still has the speed boat built for my Grandfather and I still have the dingy built by my uncle we all learnt to sail in. The house has an exceptional position on the broad which is extremely tranquil.
The house has a fantastic view up into the Inner Broad and the sunsets are second to none. The peace and quiet and tranquility of the Boathouse is very very special and have never come across anyone who hasnt come to love the place after spending a few hours in the house. I hope you get to experience its appeal.

Our stay at the boathouse was the most unbelievable experience I have ever had. The house was beautiful and was nice to feel in the comfort of a house with a meaning behind it. The scenery from the house was stunning. Coming from a city to here makes everything else in the world feel irrelevant. I could recommend this place endless times, you get so much more for your money than just a stay at the boathouse, everything else that comes with also is great.
Lovely boat house even though the weather was rainy it was cosy and we still got out on the water , very comfy and everything we needed for a lovely family break . We will be back xx
Everything needed for the stay, cooking utensils, appliances, bedding and towels is provided.
Clean and well presented, everything we needed, good location.
A lovely looking property in a beautiful setting with great views over the broad The extra bonus of a rowing boat with private mooring gives another dimension to staying on the Broads. At night it is possible to hear the water under the house very soothing. The kitchen has all necessary equipment the dish washer is a bonus. Would definitely return.
