Newly available for the first time since 2019.
Our usual changeover day is Wednesday which helps you avoid the terrible Friday/Saturday traffic, but outside the school summer holidays we try to be flexible where possible.
Grove Cottages is our family holiday home which we completely renovated for our personal use. The house is furnished with original art work and a mixture of modern and restored vintage furniture, it has a large private wooded garden which we have been returning to its former glory since 2004 including installing two large ponds. In summer guests are welcome to take vegetables from the raised beds and sweet peas/dahlias from the cut flower beds.
There are sun loungers in the garden and two large patios furnished for outside eating with a gas BBQ, open fireplace and a big Jamie Oliver wood-fired pizza oven. Wifi is accessible throughout the cottage.
The cottage is conveniently located for Bantham beach and estuary where it is possible to go surfing, sailing, kayaking, swimming, fishing and 'rock pooling' in a wonderful unspoilt environment. Thurlestone is also very close and here you will find, golf, tennis, a hotel (for spa treatments, fine dining and cream teas), pub, Post Office and shop.
Sorry, no pets and no smoking in the cottage or its gardens
At the front of the cottage there is one acre of woodland gardens with two ponds (and a resident family of Moorhens), vegetable plot, pizza oven and a large patio with dining table and chairs. Part of this garden is wild with Woodpeckers, Buzzards, Nuthatches, Dunnocks and lots of other lovely woodland birds and there is a small stream running at the bottom.
At the rear of the cottage the garden sits above the house and there is a big deck and terrace which are perfect for sitting out and watching the sun set. Once night falls, there is outside lighting and a fireplace ready to be lit so you can be warm while watching the shooting stars and satellites travel overhead.
There is plenty of parking - to the side and in front of the cottage plus overflow spaces in the garden (well out of sight of the house !).
Children are welcome but we do not allow pets or smoking in the cottage or gardens
