House in Figueira, near Salema, Vila do Bispo, Western Algarve - Peaceful location on a small quaint complex with a shared swimming pool and toddler pool

Well equipped holiday home set in lovely gardens on a small quaint complex in rural Figueira. The downstairs is bright, airy and open plan with comfortable settees which seat four people. There is a circular dining table seating six people. The kitchen is well equipped and modern, with all the usual amenities. The first floor is reached by a marble staircase with recently refurbished bathrooms and two good sized bedrooms, suitable for a family or four adults. To the rear of the house there is a good sized patio area with table, chairs and a barbeque area. Quinta da Aldeia is ideally situated being very close to a number of local beaches which may be reached by car or on foot. Surfing beaches are within a short drive. The nearest supermarket is five minutes by car and the interesting towns of Lagos and Sagres are within a twenty minute drive away. Parque da Floresta golf and leisure resort is a five minute drive away.

About the Owner

My husband and I are in our fifties and have holidayed in the Western Algarve for ten years. We have two grown up children who have both enjoyed holidays with us at Quinta da Aldeia. We enjoy being outdoors and the lifestyle in Portugal, with the great climate suits us very well for walking, running and swimming.

After spending many years holidaying in the South of France we came to the Western Algarve with friends in 2005. We love the beaches, the glorious sea views, the restaurants, with the excellent fish dishes and the friendly local people. The area is very relaxing, although busier towns are within easy reach.

Coast/Beach:

This region of Portugal has many superb beaches. Salema beach is four minutes by car and twenty minutes on foot and Figueira beach is also within a twenty minute walk. Stunning Furnas beach is ten minutes by car and Zaviel and Ingrina beaches are fifteen minutes by car. Burgau and Praia de Luz are within a ten minute drive. Lagos and Sagres beaches are also within twenty minutes by car.

Travel:

Faro airport is ninety minutes away by car. Most UK airports travel daily to Faro. It is also possible to travel to Lisbon and combine your stay with some days in this city. Regular ferries travel between Plymouth and Santander with onward travel from this location of approximately six hours. Car hire is strongly recommended to make the most of this location.

Distances:

A couple of bars and shops are situated a short stroll from Quinta da Aldeia. There is also an excellent, reasonably priced, restaurant in the village. Salema offers a greater choice of bars and restaurants and is a twenty minute walk or a four minute drive away. The local supermarket is a five minute drive away and Lidl in Vila do Bispo is a fifteen minute drive away. Two cashpoints are within a five minute drive.

Further Details:

The bustling town of Lagos is a twenty minute drive away and has much to offer in terms of interesting buildings, monuments, boat, fishing, dolphin and whale watching trips and a marina. The port of Sagres is a fifteen minute drive away and the lighthouse at Cape St Vincent is extremely impressive and is surrounded by beautiful native plants and flowers. Along the west coast there are numerous surfing beaches. During the summer months at the fort at Praia da Luz there is a jazz band (booking for this is strongly recommended). Within easy reach of Quinta da Aldeia are many local walks. There are two waterparks on the Algarve, both within easy driving distance. Zoomarine is at Albufeira and is approximately 50 minutes drive and Zoo Lagos is approximately 30 minutes drive from the house.

The house is really well situated for visiting lots of places on both the south and west coast. Lagos is a really pleasant, but busier town and the villages locally are all really lovely. Portimao is within easy driving and offers plenty of shops for those who need a little retail therapy during their holiday. Our house is light and airy and even on the hottest days, inside it is always cool and pleasant to be in. Since we bought the house in 2008 all the rooms have been updated and it is now very comfortable and pleasant to stay in. The square itself is very charming, with its' cobbles and pretty gardens.

  • Notes on accommodation: Owing to the owners allergy strictly no pets are permitted. Children are welcomed and a cot may be provided by arrangement. A single foldaway bed is available and is suitable for a small child and may be used in either bedroom. Smoking is only allowed on the rear terrace. To make the most of the location a car is strongly recommended. Outside: To the front of the house there is a small lawned front garden leading into the quaint cobbled square. The heated communal swimming pool is directly in front of the house. To the rear of the property is a south facing terrace with a barbeque area, table and chairs, giving lovely views over the Portugese National Park where guests may enjoy the evening sunshine. Utility Room: x Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and bed linen are included and are changed on a weekly basis. The property is cleaned on a weekly basis for guests staying for longer than a week. Beach towels are provided for the duration of the holiday. Other: x
