"Field end" is an oak timber framed dwelling in the grounds of Potato Town situated on the Great Tew Estate in the Cotswolds. Designed and built by the owners, furniture designer John Callen and artist Pam Franklin. A contemporary spacious and light interior with beautiful rural views. Two bedrooms that can be configured with twin or double beds. Large deck area with seating, table and barbecue facilities over looking open fields.

Great Cotswold Vacation Barn

The converted barn was a great home base for visiting the Cotswolds. It was perfect for two couples and was exactly as described. We found it clean and comfortable with all that we needed for our weeks stay. We found fresh flowers, a fresh baked loaf of bread, a bottle of Hook beer, coffee, sugar, a discount card for The Mason Arms Pub (just down the road), and excellent information and instructions for enjoying our stay. The back deck, table, and hammock were perfect for relaxing and enjoying the country view and wildlife. You are near all key towns in this region and there is an Aldi grocery store within 4 miles. The owners were away but their daughter was very friendly and helpful whenever we had questions or needed assistance.

Just Perfect

Lovely accommodation, lovely location and lovely people! 3 of us for a uni reunion - had a great time and make sure you visit the Falkland Arms just a few minutes away - quintessential English pub - book though! Thanks to the owners for making us welcome and providing the jump leads after we didn't close the car door properly!

An enjoyable place to stay, lovely hosts, and easy access to Cotswold villages and Oxford.

Field End is well situated and screened in Pam's lovely garden, which was full of beautiful dahlias when we were there. They have created a private space for visitors to enjoy, with a wonderful decking area to the rear overlooking open fields and woods, complete with table and seating for al fresco dining, and a hammock to relax in and gaze at the stars!

A welcoming gesture of artisan bread, local beer, chorizo, milk, chocolate and fruit was much appreciated to begin our week's stay. The large windows and patio doors provide lots of light to the rooms, with comfortable beds, two shower rooms and fresh flowers from the garden making it an enjoyable interior. Parking is easy, and the property is ideally situated for all the wonderful Cotswold villages and Oxford.

It was a pleasure to meet Pam and John, our lovely hosts.

Delightful building, views, location and owners.

A lovely spacious modern cottage with lots of character set in a great location. Surrounded by open countryside and small cottage garden. A large decked area is lovely to sit with a coffee and what the Red Kites. The owners Pam and John are fabulous. We will most definitely be back.

A gem of a cottage that made the holiday

Stayed here with two old friends from university for a short summer getaway, and we were blown away by presentation of the cottage (which John and Pam built themselves!) and the fantastic value for money - especially appreciated as we're all in our mid-twenties. Accessibility is really important for one of my friends and she was delighted we found this gem of a cottage which was clearly designed with this in mind - in fact she said she'd love to live somewhere similar! (I think we all would.)

John and Pam could not have been more welcoming or accommodating - they met us when we arrived and when we talked about having a BBQ out on the decking for our first evening (given the glorious weather), John immediately got us coal from the shed and Pam gave us directions to Chipping Norton so we could get our burgers!

You know it's a good cottage when everyone keeps congratulating you for finding it, from the minute you arrive through the door. It made the whole holiday experience really special and I know we'll be back - I can imagine it becoming a regular haunt for our reunions. Thank you Pam and John.

  • Notes on accommodation: The property has underfloor heating throughout. Pets accepted on arrangement with owners. Outside: On the south facing side of building there is a large deck being constructed. This will be finished for the summer months and will have table, chairs / benches and sun shade with barbecue facilities. Utility Room: There is an outside wc/utility room with washing machine, tumble drier and freezer Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Clean towels and linen provided.
