Apartment in Stonehaven, Grampian, Scotland - Bright, Stylish, Recently Modernised and Central In Historic Town

Only 80 metres from the sea and promenade, you can relax and feel at home in our stylish, recently modernised 3 bedroom listed apartment. The first floor accommodation is on two floors with bright, spacious open plan kitchen/dining /living room area and single cosy bedroom situated on the first floor. Living space/dining area provides adequate seating and the luxury of a SMART TV with Bluray/DVD player. Free wifi is also provided. Our lovingly and painstakingly restored staircase leads up to a bright, stylish twin bedroom with wall mounted TV/DVD player as well as a further attractive double bedroom with luxury bedding, tasteful decor and SMART TV. Our recently modernised bathroom offering our guests the use of complimentary products is also located on the upper floor.

No car is necessary, as soon as you walk out the front door, everything is on your doorstep – lovely local little shops in which to browse in, cafes, restaurants, banks, small supermarkets, everything you could wish for. Have a gentle stroll via the scenic route along the promenade, stopping off at Molly’s for a delicious home cooked breakfast, lunch or dinner, or pay a visit next door from Molly's to the Bay Fish and Chip shop (brilliant fresh fish and worth the wait!) You may simply want to relax with a leisurely coffee at the Waterfront Cafe offering dramatic sea views or treat yourself to afternoon tea at Arduthie House which offers delicious home baking. If you prefer sample some fine dining at one of Scotland’s best seafood restaurants, The Tolbooth (booking essential) overlooking the picturesque, historic harbour or just sit by the sea with an ice-cream from Aunt Betty’s – (toppings a must!) and soak in the atmosphere, whilst dolphin spotting. Further restaurants, cafes, bars, ice-cream shops, fish and chip shops (including the Carron famous for its deep fried Mars bars) can be found in the surrounding streets and are too numerous to mention you will just keep finding them!

For the children there is the adventure playground, teenagers the skate park and don’t forget to bring your swimming costume for a quick splash in our famous Art Deco Olympic sized heated out-door pool (summer months only) and offering midweek midnight swims. The leisure centre has an indoor pool open all year. We also have a bowling green, putting and tennis courts – there is something for everyone.

If you are feeling energetic you can walk up through Bervie Braes towards Dunnottar Castle - well worth the climb as once at the top the view on a nice day is amazing of Stonehaven Bay. A further five minute walk and passing the war memorial, you will see our iconic Dunnottar Castle in the distance a spectacular fortress ruins where you can take in the breathtaking awesome scenery, imagining life in the 15th century (Part of Hamlet was filmed here starring Mel Gibson) and a “must” visit. There is a road-train which operates in the summer months from the Market Square if you don’t feel like walking.

Stonehaven also has one of the oldest golf courses in Scotland which straddles the Highland Fault Line and offers scenic views across Stonehaven Bay towards Dunnottar (visitors welcome any time). Nearby, the sandstone cliffs of Fowlsheugh hold one of Scotland's largest sea bird colonies.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.

I was born and brought up in Aberdeen 15 miles to the north of Stonehaven so over the years have had many trips to this seaside town and a lot of happy memories. Due to work I had to move away but still have many friends and relatives in this area and visit regularly. I was lucky enough to purchase this property in 2013 and still can't believe it! I love Stonehaven and hope that after your visit you too will see why.

Nice central flat in lovely seaside town

We rented this flat for its central position as we were attending the local folk festival. It was a wonderfull surprise, very modern, compact, clean and well cared for. Frances, the owner, certainly knows how to look after her guests with little treats and surprises throughout.

The appliances in the kitchen covered all needs and the fridge was extremely well stocked. Good quality beds and nice bathroom with bath/shower. Long term parking can be easily found in surrounding streets. Altogether, a very good flat.

First time in Stonehaven

This was the most amazing flat I have rented! The owner went above, and beyond, to make us feel as though it truly was our home away from home! The location was central to everything you could possibly need while visiting Stonehaven, and the flat was beautiful. I would GREATLY recommend this flat and location! Beautiful location and the hike to Dunnottar from Stonehaven Harbour was worth every step to get there. But warning, the scenery is stunning!

This property is of an extremely high standard, spotlessly clean and with very good quality fixtures and fittings. Many, many little extras around the place such as lovely toiletries, a well stocked fridge to be used with the owner's compliments, and concise information on the area. We would have no hesitation in booking the property again in future.

Wonderful Holiday Get Away

We had a fabulous stay in Stonehaven. The area is so beautiful. Frances was an amazing hostess she made sure we had everything we needed. The cottage is cozy and the beds were very comfortable. Great places to eat near by but if you want to stay in the kitchen is well stocked. We would definitely come back.

80 metres from sea and promenade. Beautiful sandy beaches along the coastline from Aberdeen to Lunan Bay (one of the most beautiful beaches in Scotland) - all within 30 minutes drive.


Aberdeen airport is approx 20 miles from Stonehaven.

Railway station which provides good links both north and south of the town is a pleasant 15 minute walk.

Bus rank 5 minute walk which services surrounding villages as well as to further afield.

Taxi rank 2 minute walk.


Aberdeen 15 miles north which can be reached by either car, bus, train or taxi.

Montrose 25 minutes drive south and can be reached by car, bus or train.

Dundee 45 minutes drive south and can be reached by car, bus or train.

Glasgow and Edinburgh can both be accessed by rail for a day trip.

Further Details:

Local quirky shops, numerous restaurants, hotels, small supermarkets, coffee shops, banks and even a small post office all on your doorstep. Tourist Information Centre across the road (closed winter months re-opens April 2015). Adventure playground, skate park and leisure centre with indoor pool, bowling, putting and tennis all within a 5-10 minute walk. Art Deco Olympic Sized Heated Open Air Pool (open summer months only with weekly midnight swims) 5-10 minute walk along promenade.

Events in Stonehaven include: The Feein' Market (June), Folk Festival (July), Highland Games (July), the Harbour Festival (August), The Real Ale Festival (November) as well as the world famous New Year Fireball Ceremony and Open Air in the Square concerts.

Aberdeen is easily accessible and great for a day trip. Also known as "The Granite City and Oil Capital of Europe” it has so much to offer the tourist, from wandering through the historic merchant quarter, enjoying a picnic at one of the many beautiful parks, making sandcastles at the beach, sampling the delights of one of the many restaurants or dancing the night away at one of the night clubs.

Altens & Tullos Industrial Estates sit at the south of Aberdeen city and is 20 minutes by car so the property is ideal for anyone on short stay business trips.

To the South Montrose is a 25 minutes drive where you can visit the Visitor Centre at Montrose Basin opened by the Scottish Wildlife Trust and open all year round. A must for all bird watchers.

Royal Deeside which is amongst the most beautiful places in Scotland and runs between Banchory and Braemar. This area is the home of many fine castles including the royal Balmoral Castle and Crathes Castle.
