Wonderful stay in Underhowe Cottage Grasmere

We stayed in this delightful, homely cottage in Grasmere village with our entire family. The rooms were good, maybe a little more wardrobe space would help, the two lounges were very comfortable. Plenty of shower/bath facilities. Good kitchen, microwave needs replacing, overall works well. Just behind Miller Howe it's perfectly placed in the village. To have the whole family including grandkids, who loved it, was memorable. We all had a wonderful time and would definitely go again.

Travel:

By road Grasmere is on the A591, 40 mins from junction 36 of the M6.

The nearest train station can be found at Windermere (8 miles), served from the village by taxi and public transport (Bus). From here it's a 15 minute train journey to Oxenholme which is located on the West Coast mainline (London Euston to Glasgow/Edinburgh).

Distances:

150 metres to the centre of Grasmere village (co-operative food store, shopping, pubs, coffee houses and restaurants). Ambleside is within 4 miles. Windermere (8 miles) and Keswick (13 miles) are within a 30 minute drive.

  • Notes on accommodation: The cottage has been fully and sympathetically renovated. Please be aware that ceiling heights are low in certain ground floor areas due to low door heights and character beams, typical of this type of property. The cottage is part gas central heating and part electric heating. The private courtyard has a table and chairs and is accessed directly from the kitchen. Please note the cottage is a non-smoking property. Outside: The large lawned garden is located to the front of the property and benefits from being south facing. It is level, making it ideal to use in summer for activities and relaxing. To the rear is a private courtyard area, complete with table and chairs. Utility Room: Utility room with sink, washing machine/dryer, and storage area for boots, coats and walking equipment. In addition a further fridge is housed in this room. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property is cleaned once a week and duvets, linen and towels are provided. Other: A ground floor wc complete with wash hand basin is located adjacent to the boot room.
