Wooden Luxury Cabin With Own Sauna And Beautiful Unspoilt Views, Warm And Cosy

Updated: 18-Oct-2016
Cabin in Drewsteignton, Dartmoor, South Devon, Devon, England - Total Escape From Modern Noise, Just The Noise Of The River, Deer And Owls

Woody's Cabin, has been designed to be both a perfect escape in the summer with lots of outside space, including its own wood with stream but also snuggy warm on the colder, wetter days. It has heating as well as a woodburner and if that is not enough it's own sauna! Drewsteignton is well known for its picture postcard, thatched centre and is a 2 mile walk away, Woody's cottage is a great base for exploring all that Dartmoor has to offer and super for those wishing to walk right from the front door. The chalet has as many modern conveniences squeezed into it as possible with a microwave, full cooker with hob, BBQ for better weather cooking, fridge, shower room with sauna, two verandas and lots of outside space to enjoy. Woody's Cottage had been designed to make your holiday as warm and peaceful as possible.

Gods little corner

Arrived at the cabin to be greeted by two pet sheep that were so friendly that they wouldnt let you up the steps untill you had given them a good pamper for a few mins along with a few chickens, The cabin was just what we wanted up a slight hill with view across the valley it also had table and chairs outside to eat your lunch, the cabin was well equipped...nikki and her pet dog woody came to greet us after a few hours who we found to be very helpful, if you would like to go for a nice walk try the fingle bridge inn a very pretty walk for a few miles followed by a pint[or more] over looking the fiver.

many thanks to nikki for letting us stay with our dog

Fantastic relaxing holiday in a beautiful rural location with lovely locals and friendly walkers. Brilliant for dog walkers or a couples getaway. The cabin is so well presented and packed with all you need the sauna is a fab touch and the fresh morning eggs were very welcome! Bread milk and fresh eggs waiting on arrival. unfortunately we did not get to meet nikki dog as he was away but will for certain be returning for another visit next year! Nikki kept in good contact and was very very accommodating despite being on holiday herself! Thank you very much and we would recommend nikki and her lovely cabin to anyone.xx

Beautiful, secluded cabin with a touch of luxury

  • 5 of 5

Gorgeous, v well equipped, perfect wooden cabin. Fantastic bed, sauna and everything you could need for a short stay. Clean, immaculate, really couldn't fault it.

We took our dog and it's a perfect dog walking spot. Try the walk down to Fingle Bridge and have a pint of cider next to the river (3 miles each way) and Drewsteignton was a bit further on but also a nice walk. Chagford is a short drive and a very beautiful little place with great walks.

The little woodburner gives out so much heat, I'm confident you could stay here on the coldest day of the year and still be snug. We loved it!

A haven of peace in a beautiful valley

  • 5 of 5

We SO enjoyed our few days in Woody's cottage in such a peaceful location. We both enjoy the countryside so this was perfect. After walking over Dartmoor we could come back to a sauna and watch TV or read in front of the wood burning stove - very warm and cosy. There are facilities (compact) for cooking up bacon and eggs in the morning and Nikki (the owner) gave us helpful advice on local pubs with excellent food if we wantd to go out in the evening. I suggest you take only small amount of luggage as there's a short climb up some steps through the wood from the car and limited storage space. We will return in the summer to sit on the verandahs in the sun to watch the buzzards!

From the Owner

I bought Woodbrooke because it has the best view in the world, you can't hear cars and it's a sun trap...there can be no better reasons! It dates back over 400 years, and is thatched and we use our own water. Often when I am driving down the lane I stop the car to take in the view, that is 14 years of doing that and I never take it for granted.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Exeter at 20 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : The Drew Arms at 2 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : A30 at 2 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : The Drew Arms at 2 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Exmouth at 25 Kilometres Car: necessary

Devon is obviously famous for its beaches but Exmouth is an easy 35 min drive away and extends for miles, there are busy sections with water sports and long quiet sections to just watch the sea. Nikki is happy to point you in the direction of smaller, lesser known beaches which are local secrets.

Exeter airport, 20 mins.

Exeter train Station 20 mins

Car essential and be aware our lane is rural so low slung sports cars might look different on their return drive home!

1 mile to local shop open late with bakery and 1 mile to nearest pub.

Further Details:

I would suggest shopping in Moretonhampstead, it is a small Dartmoor town, 15 mins away with shops open till 10pm and a great place to find restaurants and super food.

From the Owner

I think coming to Woody's cabin will be such a change from where you live that it will be a whole new experience, you will definitely feel like you have stepped out of modern life and hopefully as well as getting to know Devon better, personally I can't recommend just...stopping. Though we all feel duty bound to see the sights, a day simply reading, watch the birds, lying in the sun and drinking wine watching the sun going down should not be underestimated.

  • Notes on accommodation: Woody's Cabin is in a Wooded location, there are steps up through trees to the chalet and is therefore only suitable for people who are sure footed and expecting a rural stay. If you are looking for flat concrete paths and your car next to the front door this is not the right place for you, this is a country escape set in the grounds of a beautiful thatched property which is hidden away in the Teign Valley. You are welcome to use WiFi in the owners office which will be left open for checking emails and finding local information but there is no WiFi in the actual cabin Outside: Outside there are two verandas, lots of space around the chalet and a 2 acre wood with stream to explore. The owner, Nikki, is very relaxed so is very happy to assist with local places to explore and to do all she can to make you feel at home which includes leaving you completely alone! She does however own an overly friendly puppy called Woody, who will pay you visits Utility Room: Should you wish to do a load of washing just walk up to main house and Nikki will gladly put a load in! Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen is supplied and changed once a week should you stay for longer than a week.
