The property is in the old town of Menton. This means that the roads to it are very steep, with lots of steps. In fact, cars cannot get closer than about 200m from the property - so beware if you have large or heavy luggage. The property is on the second floor with a stunning view across the roofs and out to sea. The shutters are fragile and should only be opened with care. We were warned to fix the windows back if we opened them (bits of string provided), otherwise they might bang and break the glass. The stairs (no lift) are VERY steep and narrow, with a thin hand rail, and unlit at night. Not for people with mobility issues. The property is ONE ROOM + a tiny bathroom. Two single bed-chairs (not made up before our arrival) and two ordinary sofas. So really only a 2-bed property. Shower is tiny and difficult to get in and out of. Black mould. No bidet or douche. Appliances that we used worked; one dangerous standard lamp, don't use it! Plenty of plates, cooking utensils, towels, sheets &c. Strangely, there was very little toilet paper provided.
