About Steven Kelynack

We are Steven and Polly Kelynack. We bought Ruffcott in 2003 and have had many fabulous times here with our daughter and friends.

Being Cornish with a very Cornish name we have always had an affinity with Cornwall, with family roots all over Cornwall down to the town of Kelynack near Land's End.

Steven Kelynack purchased this cottage in 2003

Why Steven Kelynack chose North Cornwall

The cliff walks, the drama of the weather, the surfing, beautiful beaches - these are just a few of the attractions of North Cornwall.

It is closer to London than most of Cornwall being only 4 hours away. It's an hour from Exeter, and 2 hours from Bristol.

What makes this cottage unique

Trebarwith Strand is our favourite Beach just 10 minutes away. Tregardock beach and Polzeath are also close by.

The charming fishing village of Port Isaac is very close.

There are fabulous Summer and Easter classical concerts at St Endellion Church.

There are golf clubs in the cottage which you can use at any of the numerous courses nearby.

Nice To Return

  • 5 of 5

We returned to explore more of the area.

This time even luckier with the weather. For the first time in the UK we had to hide indoors as it was 30C outside.

Body boarding at Trebarwith is always a highlight but Cod with mussels in a curry sauce was a real treat at Port Gaverne Hotel/pub. Ruffcott has everything you need. A bigger kitchen might be nice but the cottage is charming and quiet and a real escape.

Lovely cottage with all you could wish for!

  • 5 of 5

We booked during our UK trip one night before arrival and Steven the owner provided great service on short notice. The cottage has good beds, a bath and seperate shower and a very well equiped kitchen.

We enjoyed the good wifi and modern tv and media possibilities; could even use our netflix account.

The cottage was a perfect place for us to discover this beautifull part of Cornwall.

Apart from interesting places to visit nearby like Tintagel Castle (beautiful) and nice beaches we also made day-trips to the Lost Garden of Heligan, St Michaels mount, the Minack theatre and Lands End and Lydford Gorge ( beautifull and spectacular walk). If you travel by car, like we did, Ruffcott cottage is a perfect place for exploring the area. And at a very reasonable price; good value for money!

Perfect Tranquility

  • 5 of 5

It's always a bit nerve-wracking turning up at a holiday cottage for the first time. We needn't have worried. We were welcomed with wine and milk and some great Spacemasks - a wacky idea of the owner's to help us city types unwind. The cottage has a great log burner but was usually too warm to use, great wifi, books and dvds. The location is spot on if you like cliff walks, country pubs, big unspoilt beaches.

Well Equipped, Stylish and Characterful Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our time in the North Cornwall area. The beaches are less touristy than most of Cornwall. They are more spectacular too.

Ruffcott had everything we needed for our stay. Maybe not the highest luxury but real charm and the owners' obviously care about the place.

Looking forward to returning.

A good base location.

  • 3 of 5

The property was very cute and was cosy but the damp smell on arrival was a little off putting. The beds were comfortable and the facilities were well stocked. The TV in the living room was not functioning properly it was frozen on the Sky TV guide.

Owner's Response: Thanks Holly for the review. We're glad you found the cottage cute and cosy. The bath overflowing caused the damp smell. This has dried out now. The Sky box resets when you turned it off and back on. You can also watch TV using Free To Air on either on the TVs. We could have helped at the time if you called us.

Christmas In Cornwall

  • 4 of 5

It can be tricky hiring a cottage because you never know what to expect from just photos ,however having traveled to Cornwall on a wet day we were glad to finally get to Ruffcott and found that the photos were if anything not showing the cottage in its true colours.

We found it charming and very well sited in a really nice Cornish farming village ,we found the cottage cosy and even the cooking of a Christmas dinner was not a major problem . Being in this area give you access to all of Cornwall with lands end only a hour and a bit away, well maybe a bit more but its not far, Day trips can be planned with ease with so many places to see and so many nice places to eat along the way, I could go on for ever but we found the cottage, the facilities and the area just what we wanted and would come back again because I'm sure in the summer it would be a beautiful place to stay.
