About the property

Characterful Cottage Within Easy Reach Of Trebarwith Strand Beach, Port Isaac, Polzeath, Rock, Padstow and Eden Project

Ruffcott is a charming cottage with a big windowed wood burner and connected to fibre broadband, located just a mile or two from some fabulous beaches and 12 minutes from Port Isaac. For walkers, the dramatic coastal footpath and the wilds of Bodmin Moor are only a short drive away. In an excellent location for touring, there are many NT houses and gardens within easy reach including the renowned Eden project. Shops and pubs within 1 mile.

Trebarwith Strand beach is nearby with 2 great pubs and shops. Tregardock is nearer and totally unspoilt so you'll need to take a picnic.

The cottage is fully equipped with 2 DVD players, access to Netflix if you have an account and most important - free wifi internet access is through fibre broadband direct to the cottage, giving speeds of 55mb/s.

Central heating is provided through storage heaters which come on several times a day.

A big windowed wood burner provides even more heat and of course entertainment. You might want to turn the storage heating down if you don't like being roasted.

We are most popular with couples and small families. The cottage is an escape but is also well connected to the world if you want to be.

The cottage next door can also be found on Owner's Direct (Ref No. 8156141). Bigger groups have often booked both.

About Steven Kelynack

We are Steven and Polly Kelynack. We bought Ruffcott in 2003 and have had many fabulous times here with our daughter and friends.

Being Cornish with a very Cornish name we have always had an affinity with Cornwall, with family roots all over Cornwall down to the town of Kelynack near Land's End.

Steven Kelynack purchased this cottage in 2003

Why Steven Kelynack chose Delabole

The cliff walks, the drama of the weather, the surfing, beautiful beaches - these are just a few of the attractions of North Cornwall.

It is closer to London than most of Cornwall being only 4 hours away. It's an hour from Exeter, and 2 hours from Bristol.

What makes this cottage unique

Trebarwith Strand is our favourite Beach just 10 minutes away. Tregardock beach and Polzeath are also close by.

The charming fishing village of Port Isaac is very close.

There are fabulous Summer and Easter classical concerts at St Endellion Church.

There are golf clubs in the cottage which you can use at any of the numerous courses nearby.

Beautiful cottage in a very pretty, peaceful village.

  • 5 of 5

We really loved our week in this lovely cottage. We felt at home immediately and loved the comfy lounge room and the kitchen was very well fitted out with everything one needs, including a dishwasher and a washing macnine. Maybe could have used a clothes drying rack. Bedrooms were upstairs and very comfortable again. The whole house stayed warm,. There was parking for one car but it is a bit of a squeeze but it does get athe car off the road. The cottage is in a very quiet little tiny village, it is so peaceful and lovely walks can be done right out the front door. There is a fabulous pub in a very nearby village called St Teath’s. We walked to The White Hart pub one evening. Fab!

The cottage is so well situated to visit many places in Cornwall. Loads in easy reach. A great area for exploring.

We would readily return to this great cottage next time we are the area.

Cosy and very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We had a five day break in this lovely cottage. It is surprisingly spacious in the living/dining area and upstairs. The kitchen is very well equipped although compact. There was a wide variety of books and dvds available. The beds are very comfortable and the shower was great. The owner was very efficient and prompt in his replies. We particularly enjoyed the added extras of milk, tea etc and a very welcoming bottle of wine. Thank you Steven. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Lovely cottage, good location

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our three nights in Ruffcott...a very characterful, comfortable and cosy cottage. Lovely to have milk and wine left for us. Recommend eating at Surfside on Polzeath beach for casual dining, good service and very good food! V disappointing meal at the White Hart down the road. The cottage is in a good location for countryside and coast walks...9 miles from cottage to Tredogget and along the cliffs and back - we all slept well that night!

Charming cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely Easter break in the Ruffcott. It’s a charming, character cottage, very well equipped with all essentials. Good location, close to beautiful Port Isaac, Tintagel and Padstow.

A lovely welcome bottle of wine was a nice touch. Thank you.

Exhilarating Coastal Walks

  • 5 of 5

It was a cold February weekend but this cosily warm cottage was the answer to our dreams. We came back to do some more coastal walks. There cannot be a better stretch of exhilarating beautiful walks anywhere. Walking down to the deserted Tregardock beach and then walking along the cliff tops is truly memorable. Particularly in the wind and rain. Must be even better in Spring.

Still, coming back to the cottage was a relief and we soon had the wood burner fired up.

The owners have good style which shows in the decor, the dvds and books they have left. They are rightly proud of their super fast fibre broadband. 5 times faster than in Fulham!

Another great trip to North Cornwall, the pubs and the walks. We'll be back again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. The walks are the main reason we bought Ruffcott. They never cease to entertain. Really glad you enjoyed yourselves.

Roaring Fires In This Cosy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We loved the setting of this charming cottage. It has plenty of character and a lot of home comforts. The Welcome Pack and the OD app had a lot of useful information and we had no shortage of ideas in this lovely part of Cornwall.

The evenings were cosy with the wonderful log fire and DVDs the owners have provided.

Our only criticism would be perhaps be the kitchen. It was a bit on the small side. Despite that, it had everything you need and we had some great meals in.

Overall a real find.

Owner's Response: The new wood burner is our latest indulgence. Usually enjoy watching that more than the TV. Glad you had a good time.
