Spacious Cottage in the Heart of Reepham - an Historic Norfolk Town. Free WiFi

Updated: 25-Nov-2016
Cottage in Reepham, Norfolk. Very Close to Local Shops and other Amenities - Sleeps 4 - Norwich 12 mls, Blickling 7 mls.

Number Twelve is a spacious 2 bedroom cottage near to the Market Place with its own private parking space. The main bedroom has a double bed with space for a travel cot and bedroom 2 has two single beds. There is a lounge, a dining room and a pleasant garden room with views of the church. A secluded walled garden offers a private outside space.

Norwich and the Broads are within a 30 minute drive and the North Norfolk Coast is only 35 minutes away. The central location within Norfolk makes this an ideal base to explore this picturesque county.

Number 12 is situated just moments away from the centre of Reepham, the smallest town in Norfolk, and certainly one of the most picturesque. The completely Georgian Market Place and most of the town is within a conservation area. The three churches in one churchyard, one just ruins, its quaint cottages and the newly renovated Dial House, with its restaurant and tea rooms, give character and a sense of history to the town.

Granted a market charter in 1277, with its market still operating today, Reepham has grown over the centuries and has a range of independent shops and places to eat.

Number 12 is the end property in a terrace of four, with all the comforts of modern living combined with a cottage feel. The cottage has been fully renovated and offers high quality spacious accommodation for four people plus a small secluded garden and its own parking space.

Number Twelve is the ideal base from which to explore this attractive small town and surrounding areas with many places to visit. The Whitwell and Reepham Railway Museum is nearby, the Bure Valley narrow gauge railway at Aylsham is only 15 minutes drive, the Mid Norfolk Railway at Dereham is 20 minutes away and the North Norfolk Heritage Railway at Holt is only a 25 minute drive, making this the perfect spot for any train enthusiasts. The award winning Dinosaur Adventure Park is 4 miles away. Reepham is an ideal spot for walking and cycling due to it being on the Marriott's Way, a 26 mile footpath, bridleway and cycle route running from the historic market town of Aylsham via Reepham to the medieval city of Norwich. The guide book can be found at: (http://www.marriottsway.info/downloads/Marriotts_Way_Guide_Book.pdf) . The beautiful North Norfolk Coast, the Norfolk Broads and the fine city of Norwich are within easy driving distance.

About the Owner

Having retired from teaching I and my wife, Pam, decided to start a new venture by setting up a holiday cottage. We have enjoyed staying in holiday cottages throughout our lives and we decided that we wanted to offer the opportunity for people to stay in a clean, spacious cottage within our own small town of Reepham, which is a pretty Georgian market town (about the size of a large village) in Mid/North Norfolk.

We live about 300 yards from the cottage so we are on hand if you need us but we will leave you to enjoy your holiday.

We are committed to ensuring that you have an enjoyable holiday.

The cottage is central to all interesting attractions; off road parking; close to shops; lovely little garden; big and bright bathroom; very well equipped. We felt homely and comfortable straight away.

Lovely cottage warm welcome and so clean and tidy

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous holiday in Norfolk and the cottage was so lovely I have never stayed anywhere so organised, and it was well looked after clean and tidy. It's obvious the owners take pride in what they do and the cottage has everything you would need for your stay. My children were so excited when they saw all the toys and books to play with! Can't fault this place, lovely village and a spar shop is on your doorstep for any essentials.

Reepham Holiday Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have spent 1 week in Reepham and were delighted with this beautiful holiday home. The very friendly owners have put much thought and love into decorating. It has a very tasteful interior, it is very clean and tidy, spacious and there is everything you possibly need. You also have a lovely little garden with a seating area. It is pretty much right in the heart of Reepham, a few minute walk away from the market place and only a few yards away from a Spar shop.

Overall impression..The property was very well equipped and spotlessly clean.

  • 5 of 5

First impression of the property was first class, a spotless cottage . Staying in the property was an enjoyable experience. The owners, local but not intrusive, seemed to have thought of everything, even down to spare toothbrushes! We would recommend the property to anyone, but please don't book when we may want to go !!

Beautifully appointed home from home

We booked this cottage for the minimum 4 nights over Easter weekend. Prior to our stay Paul provided comprehensive information and detailed instructions on how to find the cottage. The property is exactly as it appears on the website, in fact better, because the rooms are more spacious. It was spotlessly clean, with lovely contemporary furnishings and every possible amenity/piece of equipment. We have stayed in many holiday cottages all round the UK and only one other has matched it for cleanliness, comfort and value for money. Close to local shops, but still blissfully peaceful and quiet. Paul called round on the evening we arrived to check we had everything we needed and knew where everything was. The tea/coffee, milk and cake on arrival is a nice, welcoming touch. The cottage is also a convenient base for visiting much of Norfolk, being a short drive from Norwich and the north Norfolk coast and an hour to the Norfolk Broads and King's Lynn. Fish and chips from the local chippy were very reasonably priced and delicious. We also had a very enjoyable meal at the King's Arms in the Market Square, with generous portions of well-cooked, tasty food and efficient service. Booking here is essential as it is very popular. Our only reservation about recommending this property is the purely selfish reason that we want to keep this little gem to ourselves!

Further Details:

Reepham is known locally as a hidden gem. The town has been used to film an episode of Agatha Christie's Piorot and PD James mysteries. The beautiful 1729 'Dial House' in the market place has recently been renovated to provide a bistro style restaurant. The town also has traditional pub in the market place, the Kings Arms, which serves good food and plays Jazz on Sundays.

Reepham has a village store (Spar), pharmacy, newsagent, post office, gift shop, greengrocer, cash machine, DIY shop, Library, health food shop, two hairdressers, florist, fish and chip/Chinese takeaway, antique shop and an art gallery - all within 250 yds of the cottage. Kerri's Pine at the former Reepham Station has a tea shop and sells a range of furniture and gifts. There is a live steam museum at the former Whitwell Railway Station, 1 mile from the village.

There are opportunities for delightful walks and cycle rides along the former railway line, now known as Marriott's Way. This links Aylsham and Norwich.
