Slightly off the beaten track, Hagg End Holiday Let near Windermere is the ideal location for families or groups who want to unwind from the hustle and bustle of daily life, but want to be close to the action at the same time. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and open farm land this is the ideal destination for families with children as they have room to run around safely and there is even a trampoline for both the kids and the adults to use. If you have pets, you’ll be pleased to hear that they are welcome too! Lots of beautiful scenery, with the local footpath network on your doorstep, you will be spoilt for choice in which direction to go first.

About Helen Price

I am a mother of 2 children, and live with my husband in a converted barn next door to the holiday cottage.

I grew up at Hagg End, and moved back to live here in 2005. We converted the barn in 2007-8 and moved in, in 2008. We now holiday let the old farm house where I lived as a child. One of the reasons we moved back was to give our children the life style that I had as a child, the sense of freedom and openness which you don't get in a town or city. Surrounded by countryside, we are very lucky to see lots of wild animals as well as the farm animals you would expect. We have a family of deer who are never far away, and see very regularly, daily at certain times of the year. A barn owl who lives at the next property and all the birds who like to wake us with a chorus of happy sounds, including our resident Woodpecker.

Why Helen Price chose England

It was the home of my childhood. It was built around 1699, (we have deeds to go back this far, but she could be a few years older), and has retained most of its original character.

The setting is ideal for raising children, surrounded by farmland, and footpaths in all directions. There is no shortage of places to go and see. We have the most beautiful skies at night when there are no clouds. The stars are amazing to see, and one of the reasons I love the place so much.

Although peaceful and having a sense of remoteness, we are only 30 mins from the M6 and 10 mins from Lake Windermere, so ideal for exploring the Lakes. A great location to live or work or holiday.

We also welcome pets, and allow up to 3 dogs as standard, if you wish to bring more, just ask, we try to accommodate our guests when we can.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage comes fully equipped, with everything you can think of. If there is something you need just let us know and we will do our best to get it for you.

The large kitchen diner is a big hit with our guests, and it is true, especially here, that the kitchen is the heart of the home. The lounge with its wood burner is cosy and welcoming especially after a long walk, and everyone can relax together, watching the fire, or if that isn't enough the TV too.

Hagg End can be a place for parties (no one to hear the noise so be a loud as you like), or to just sit and unwind, and enjoy the peace and quiet.

A great location if you have children or pets. There are lots of walks with no cars to worry about, and the views are spectacular on the walk to Lake Windermere just 2.5 miles away.

2. Plenty of room for 10 of us plus baby. Brilliant to have dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier and such a big fridge. We never ran out of mugs and teaspoons, unlike at home. The trampoline was a great hit with all ages. Weather was perfect -warm, calm, dry and often sunny. The peace and quite was just what we needed even if we were rowdy! The Herbert Family



3. We’ve had a fantastic weekend in a superbly equipped cottage. There’s masses of room for all of us and our mess, including 2 guitars and a mandocello! and 2 dogs! Great location, plenty of good walks, some rowing, steamboats and a brilliant visit to Zeferellis Cinema with dinner. Lots of sheep, some small cows, a deer and a red squirrel. The owners live in a converted barn next door so are on hand if you require anything during your visit. However they will not disturb your stay, and whilst you are here they treat the house as if it is yours, and respect guests privacy.

Just a fabulous weekend in a fabulous place with a fabulous host!

I can't thank Helen enough for her hospitality. Before our stay she was so helpful and communicative. On arrival she was there to show us around, make sure we knew where everything was and how to work everything, on hand if anything was needed, her house is very close but at no point did we feel intruded on, lovely outside space (although the gravel did hurt the dogs paws after a couple of days playing on it, I would recommend using the car parking and grassy area's for exercising/playing with the dogs). House was lovely and warm, beds really comfortable, kitchen was better equipped than my own, basically I cant rave about it more and it was perfect for a gentle walk in beautiful surroundings. I can't recommend this place enough.. We will be back, if you'll have us! :-)

I like to cook, and feel anyone coming to stay should be able to do so too, and hence the well equipped kitchen. Of course there are lots of great places locally to eat, so all options catered for. Perfect get away

Hagg End was the perfect property for our two families and 4 dogs . In a stunning, quiet location in the hills above Windermere - away from the peak season crowds. Helen couldn't have been more helpful and unpacked our supermarket order for us when we arrived later than expected. A beautiful location for walks from the door, plenty of places to explore by car and a large welcoming house to come back to with a big kitchen and a big utility room for 4 muddy dogs. Would love to go again at any time of year.

Beautiful secluded cottage - great for family get together!

All 10 of us who joined for our weekend get together really enjoyed staying here. Hosts and facilities we great - perfect mix of modernisation and original charm. Stunning local scenery and the dogs had a blast too!

Highlights were the big kitchen where all 10 of us could sit together and instant access to miles of walking tracks right out of the front door.

Wouldn't hesitate to reccomend this property to anyone!

Great place for a relaxing extended family holiday

Beautifully situated in very peaceful spot. Lots of space both inside and outside of the house! Yet only a sort walk on the path directly from the house to Windermere or a Bowness. Three generations of our family ages from 5 to nearly 70 had a wonderful week together celebrating the impending 70th birthday of one of us!

Standard of house very good. Wanted for nothing. Very well equipped. Helen and Petros on hand to help if needed. Perfect week!

Incredible cottage, extremely welcoming hosts. Overall a fantastic stay!!

We booked Helen's cottage for my father in laws 70th birthday! Our party was 8 adults, 1 child and 4 dogs so we needed somewhere large, with lots of bathrooms and space to relax and dine. This cottage certainly did not disappoint.nit had everything you could need. Extremely well equipped, beautifully decorated and a real home away from home! The dining kitchen is perfect for long nights chatting and eating and the location was perfect for 4 excited pooches! Helen and her husband made us extremely welcome and could not do enough! Thanks for making it such a wonderful stay! We would love to come back!

Excellent - home from home

We visited Lakeland Cottage in November for my dads 60th birthday. There was 10 of us altogether. We had such a great time and the walk from the cottage to Windermere was lovely.

The cottage was really homely and lovely and warm. There was plenty of room for all of us. The overall property was clean and tidy and well maintained.

Helen and family were really welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.

I would love to visit again and would recommend to others.
