Spinney Meadows and Brewery Cottage are spacious holiday cottages in a beautiful part of Bedfordshire. The cottage is situated at Mead Open Farm in the village of Billington which is near the market town of Leighton Buzzard. The Heast family has run the farm for 50 years, and for the past ten years it has been run as a working farm that is open to the public daily. The farm exhibits a range of indoor and outdoor animals, and has outdoor climbing frames and a heated indoor play-barn that is well used in the winter months.

Spinney Meadows is a comfortable, fully furnished and well-equipped detached holiday cottage, geared for short lets. All linen and towels are provided. A cot and a high chair can be provided upon request. The front door opens onto the hallway, which leads on to the sitting room, with wooden flooring and log burner in the fireplace. There are two x 3 seater sofas, and two armchairs. For your entertainment there is a television (with Freeview). French doors lead from the sitting room to the patio area that overlooks pretty, well-maintained, mature gardens. The kitchen is well equipped with a cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, and dishwasher. The dining room provides seating for eight people. The large adjacent utility room houses a freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer, as well as also having a study area with views over the front drive.

I originally come from Cape Town, South Africa, but have been letting our holiday cottages since 1995. My husband's family have had the farm since the 1930's. Many of our guests have enjoyed staying with us from all parts of the world and appreciate the beautiful countryside around us and there is always plenty to do.

Exactly as the pictures

The property is exactly as seen on the pictures. Not very cosy, but a spacious house. Down sides: The closet in the bedroom upstairs had only very tiny drawers, not suited for putting in clothes. For the rest there was only space to hang clothes in that room. Some of the windows didnt open. The stove in the kitchen was a little bit difficult to operate, since most of the marks were gone (abraded).

The mead open farm was a great succes for the children. They really loved all of it.

Nice to go to is the Roald Dahl museum, not very close, but worth the trip.

Leighton Buzzard is a glorious market town located in the county of Bedfordshire. One of the areas main attractions is the Leighton Buzzard railway, one of Britain's leading narrow gauge railways that escorts you back to a time forgotten, you can ride the train every Sunday and Bank Holiday. The back drop of the Chiltern Hills provides great walks and areas for exploring or if you fancy a more energetic day out why not take a trip to Ascott, Woburn Abbey or even Milton Keynes for a day shopping. There are excellent pubs and restaurants in Leighton Buzzard and a trip to the Tuesday or Saturday market is a must for any holiday maker.

We request one third of the rental on booking, and the remainder 8 weeks in advance of the start of the booking.
There is a £25 booking fee.
Payment can be made on line, by card, or over the phone. There is a 2% fee for credit cards (3.5% for American Express) and no fee for debit cards.

Arrival time is after 3 pm, and departure is by 10 am.

Please note that although we try to update the availability, it may not be accurate, so please email us. We have seventeen cottages on site, and also look after bookings on others in the area, so hope to be able to offer you another property.

Bookings over five nights are welcome at late availability and quieter times of year.
