Valentine Cottage

Sleeps 4

As soon as you walk in through the front door, you will appreciate the attention to detail which has gone into making Valentine Cottage a special holiday base. Guests have included couples wanting a romantic break, small groups of friends on walking holidays, and families with up to two children. Overall, we’ve aimed to ensure that the cottage retains much of its original period charm, enhanced by a contemporary blue and white artistic seaside interior design theme that runs throughout.

Valentine Cottage has 2 bedrooms (one double and a bunk bed room), a living room with TV, DVD, 2 DAB radios and free wifi. A separate dining room seats 4. The kitchen is well equipped including a microwave and washer-drier.

Great cottage in lovely Lyme Regis

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was as expected - small but perfectly formed! Charmingly decorated as a seaside getaway,as was the beach hut, which was a wonderful bonus.Yes,the bathroom is not an easy shape but worked fine for us (and my husband is a tall man!) The location is perfect - easy cheap parking close by,at the top of the High street and the Cobb and beach only a short walk away through Langmoor Gardens which is a treat in itself. The property was clean, well equipped and helpful with lots of local info. Hix Oyster and Fish restaurant an absolute must! I'm currently recommending it to everyone I know and will definitely be returning. All in all, a fabulous week!

Ideal base from which to explore this lovely town

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Valentine cottage for four nights with our son who is almost two years old. The property had everything we could ever need - especially important with a toddler having high chair, travel cot, etc already in situ, and a plethora of toys and games to keep him occupied.

The cottage is centrally located and an ideal base from which to explore Lyme's charms. It was very well presented and clean with a wealth of information on local activities and tourist attractions.

I would highly recommend Valentine cottage and will likely be returning soon after falling in love with this beautiful town.

Thank you for a fantastic stay!

Love this cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at Valentine Cottage many times, and it never lets us down. Always clean, well kitted out and its location couldn't be better, a short walk down to the beach of the cafes and shops. It's really cosy but not too small for my famiy of four. It has a real feeling of history too, you wonder about the lives that have been lived in those rooms! It has a lovely little back garden for eating out in the summer. The owners are very good too, the only time we've ever had a problem (there was a small leak on one of the radiators) they had someone round to deal with it within the hour! Highly recommended.

Delightful Cottage For Perfect Experience

  • 5 of 5

I was visiting from the USA and wanted to explore the English seaside and the famous Jurassic Coast. Valentine Cottage was a perfect adorable base for my trip and agreat fit all my and my friends needs. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Hiked on the lovely coastal paths, had fun fossil hunting and walking on the Cobb. The beach huts are delightfully quaint and the fish and chips amazing!! Even tried mini golf. It was so fun to see this part of the world. I would happy return and visit again.

Owner's Response: We're really pleased you enjoyed your stay in our cottage and Lyme Regis. Lyme offers a lovely English seaside holiday experience. Beach-huts, a mix of sandy and pebble beaches, rock pooling, and fishing trips from the harbour. As well as fish and chips, Lyme offers a great selection of cuisine. We even have a celebrity chef in town - Mark Hix.

Our perfect bolthole

  • 5 of 5

This year was my fourth (or possibly even fifth??) winter visit to Valentine Cottage, and as usual, the best time was had by all.

I and one friend share Valentine, while the other four members of our reading-group-on-holiday share Silver Cottage, next door.

Valentine is simply the most enchanting little home - cosy, beautifully equipped, lovely atmosphere, delightful seasidey decor. I always wish I could spend more time just being in the cottage - sitting in the stairway windowseat and reading my book - but there is so much to do in Lyme that we tend to be out all day, every day.

The cottage is very welcoming, with plenty of books and DVDs, including a wonderful selection of cookbooks. Plenty of local information too, with previous tenants recommending everything from places to eat to mackerel fishing trips.

The only drawback - and it's one that doesn't actually affect me - is that the bath is quite tiny, and there is no shower. There's plenty of hot water, so having a bath is fine - but a tall man would probably struggle to fit into it! To us, it's just one of the rather charming idiosyncrasies of the place, and if we feel in desparate need of a hairwash, we can just nip next door and use the shower in Silver Cottage!

All in all, though, Valentine Cottage is one of the most delightful holiday homes I've stayed in - and what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in charm.

Owner's Response: Great to get 5 stars for our first review of Valentine Cottage on Owners Direct. Thank you, and we look forward to welcoming you and all your bookclub friends back again in the future. We've really enjoyed fitting it out with all the seasidey decor. The beach in Lyme is a great creative palette for anyone artistic. Great for collecting shells, pebbles, fossils and drift wood.
