Barns in Advent, Camelford, Cornwall, England - Set In 2 Acres, Tranquil With Fantastic Views
Highertown is a small hamlet of 4 houses set on the edge of Bodmin Moor. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and archaeological interest. It has a fabulous vista across Stannon reservoir to Roughtor and the Moor. It is very quiet and peaceful here, while at the same time it is close to the North Coast beaches and only 30 minutes drive to the Eden Project and other attractions of mid-Cornwall. It is an ideal base for exploring North and Mid-Cornwall. For those keen bird watchers we are directly under the flight path of the starling murmurations, they arrive in October and stay with us for several months. Twice a day we are given a wonderful show from the starlings and they are often so low you can actually hear them. This is also an ideal base for the avid photographer and for those who love to paint. Hiking across the moors is a wonderful experience and you will definitely need your walking boots here.
Also if you are a keen Golfer there are several local courses to choose from.

About the Owner
My husband and I live at Highertown Barn with my 2 teenagers and our very friendly Cocker Spaniel Alfie and semi-feral ginger cat, Russell. We also look after several hens and 1 cockerel called Sidney.
We do live on-site in the larger barn, Highertown, but we do work full-time so won't be about all the time.

Family holiday of 3 families aged from 6 to 70 and dogs staying in Highertown Barn. Great time in a lovely location, barn equipped with everything we needed, wifi & DVDs kept the teenagers happy, and space for us all. We biked from the barn to Jamaica Inn & surfed, beaches nearby allow dogs plus drinks on the verandah at the end of a busy day! Melanie was lovely and very helpful.
From the Owner
“We have a busy professional life and wanted to be able to get off the treadmill of our busy day job at the end of each day. We do feel very privileged to live on the Moors and feel quite re-leaved to get home at the end of each day. We do have good neighbours. There are 3 other houses in our hamlet, so we are not totally isolated, but the houses are nicely spaced out.”
Activity and Interests
15 minutes drive from Trebarwith and Bossiney, and 20 minutes from Boscastle and Port Isaac on the North Cornwall coast. There are a lot of small beaches and coves on the North coast as well as larger beaches like Widemouth Bay in Bude. A car is needed to get to the coast and to be able to explore as many of the lovely beaches Cornwall has to offer.

“We love going for walks across the moors with the dog. It is very quiet here and you will definitely feel like you are away from the rat race of life. This place is definitely somewhere to unwind and relax. If you want to get away from a busy, hectic life for a week or so then this is the place to come to.”
