About the property

Awesome 2 bedroom apartment overlooking the Mediterranean, with its own beach, Wi-Fi air con, parking

Casa Mario has to be one of the best properties in this village complex at Nebida on the southwest coast of Sardinia. If you want uncrowded beaches with soft golden sand or even a beach to yourself come in May, June, September with temps around 30° or for families then July, August with temps around 35° but don't worry there is a very good air conditioning system in this property with private Wi-Fi installed.

It has 2 bedrooms, with sea views, which are fantastic overlooking the coast of Nebida, there are two bathrooms both with showers, one upstairs and one downstairs. There is now WiFi fitted in the apartment.

You enter the property on a level approach from the street, in the front of the property there is a small veranda, then on entering you reach the main living area and kitchen, with dish washer, on this level there is also large balcony with sea views table and chairs.

Stairs which go down to the bedrooms, and second bathroom both bedrooms have sea views and air con in all rooms.

The property not being to far from the main entrance is well positioned with fantastic views of the Mediterranean sea and the island of San Pietro Carlo Forte.

Shops and mini markets close by in easy walking distance of 100 mts.

In Nebida itself there are several nice restaurants all within walking distance of the complex.

Included are all bed linen, towels, gas and electric and the property cleaned before your arrival, plus I am always available if you have a problem or need help.

Buggerru. Ancient mining center offering today a beautiful wild coast and a long sandy shoreline that starts from the town of San Nicolò and arrives at Portixeddu.

Going north you can reach the  Costa Verde where you will find a wilderness and spectacular beaches surrounded by sand dunes such as Scivu and piscinas and the ghost mining village of Ingurtosu.

South Coast there is Punta Trettu and Porto Botte. Perfect beaches for kite surf lovers. Even if you do not practice "kite" Stop for a few minutes and admire the dozens of colorful kites in the sky.

Port de Su Trigue. Beautiful white sandy beach and turquoise waters unfortunately subject to the phenomenon of the Boulders that periodically remove or deposit the sand from time to time that will form the arena of the beach.

Porto Pino. Extremely fine white sandy beach and turquoise waters. The coast is divided into three beaches: The first, the second and the dunes. The last two are preferred as wild and less crowded.

The Famous dunes are only accessible by foot along the beach and it is strictly forbidden to cross them.

Arriving at the beautiful beaches, admire the beautiful lagoons populated by numerous bird species.

Towards Cagliari

Walking along the beautiful panoramic road towards Teulada you will encounter postcard beaches among them, Porto Tramatzu, Tuerredda and Chia with turquoise waters and breathtaking views.

Sant'Antioco. The Island is connected to the land by a bridge. The best beaches are located in the south and In the northwestern part.

The west coast is still very wild and characterized by high cliffs with jagged rocks with a chance to enjoy spectacular views.

Starting from Sant'Antioco, in the south, and by completing the circumnavigation of the Island you will find:

Maladroxia. The preferred beach for families offering many services: there are bars, kiosks and restaurants.

Coequaddus. It offers crystal clear waters and lush vegetation along the coast

Cala Sapone. Small quay between outcrops gullies and islets reachable both on foot and by swimming.

Nearby there are some restaurants that offer typical cuisine.

Cala Lunga. A characteristic creek similar to a fjord embedded in wildlife.

Spiage Grande. Great Beach. It is a long and beautiful beach (about 1600 meters) featuring soft golden sand.

The Saline. Fine white and crystal clear waters of the Saline. The name derives from the old saltwater where they made salt, now of course not in use. Next to it is a beautiful beach.

Sottotorre/ below the tower.

With white calm waters the colour of emeralds.  Located in Calasetta's city center.

At the foot of the Sabauda tower of the XVIII century there is a bar / restaurant with magnificent sunsets.

Portopaglietto. Golden sand and calm waters sheltered from the majestic winds. There are two restaurants Where you can enjoy seafood specialties.

La Caletta. Small cove in the historical center of the village frequented by the local families.

For nature lovers, we suggest a non-demanding trekking of (about 6 km A / R) from the small pine forest to Capo Altano the  route takes you along a small dirt road overlooking the sea immersed in the Mediterranean shrub. Once you arrive you will enjoy a landscape which is enchanting which ranges from Sant'Antioco to the Tower at Cala Domestica.

North Coast

The coastal stretch between Portoscuso and Buggerru is considered one of the most fascinating of the Mediterranean. It follows the SP 108, a beautiful panoramic road linking Portoscuso to Gonnesa. Where you can find Portopaglia beach and the village of the same name, an ancient settlement used during the season of tuna fishing and today converted to a tourist residence. Going northward, the Gonnesa coast offers the beaches of Punta S'Arena and Plagemesu (Middle Beach). The beaches are equipped with some beach bars and restaurants.

Nebida is an old mining settlement that has become a must for lovers of trekking Sports climbing and water sports. Do not miss the walk along the belvedere restaurant.Which offers spectacular views of the sea, ancient mining facilities and faraglions. Portu Cauli - Masua. There are two small beaches with excellent services for tourists from which it is possible to do Boat excursions, canoes or pedalos to the discovery of the Pan di Zucchero  (imposing high calcareous rock of 133m) with the beautiful coast full of wild caves and creeks.

For lovers of history  not to Miss a visit to the Porto Flavia mining site at Masua

Cala Domestica. Wild beach surrounded by dunes and ancient mining ruins.  When you arrive at the beach there are rocks on either side, but on the right there is a small tunnel / cave if you pass through this tunnel there is a hidden intimate beach.

About Stephen Morgan

My name is Stephen Morgan I moved to Iglesias Sardinia to get out of the rat race and have not looked back since. Sardinia is a beautiful country and in terms of tourism is very undiscovered and a peaceful place to live. I enjoy fishing, snorkelling in crystal blue waters and hiking and mountain biking in the mountains or along stunning coastal paths. I live in a small house in the country which i built myself and grow some of my own fruit and veg and live a very healthy Mediterranean lifestyle. You are always welcome to join me on my adventures. Or you can always find me or follow me in facebook, or even on the net. If that's not enough don't be afraid to call me anytime if you need to know more.

Why Stephen Morgan chose Iglesias

This property is not mine but belongs to a very good friend, and i have been asked to take care of the bookings on there behalf as they live in Milan.

But if it was my house i would say the main asset of this property is its views and position.

Also it is situated close to beaches such as Masua, Cala Domestica, Fontanamare, Porta Banda, porta Paglia, and many more. You will love this property its a gem.

What makes this house unique

Are that it's in a fantastic location over looking the sea, access is easy and parking in General not a problem. This property is perfect for 2 person's or a family of 4.

Also in this area Nebida it is perfect for holidays all year with lazy sunny relaxing holidays in the summer months, or trekking Holidays in the low seasons, with some spectacular scenery to be had.

Great location with coastal views and walks, helpful english manager, Property not fully equipped.

  • 3 of 5

Property has plenty of room and was clean and tidy. Bathrooms well equipped but no heating. Sadly owners do not seem to know what is needed for self catering as there was no oven or microwave and limited cutlery, cooking equipment, china and glassware. Owners had locked away items which would have been useful.

Some bed linen for single beds did not fit. Internal blinds in doors to balcony permanently closed which meant lack of light and view. Kitchen area very basic with no light. More suited to summer use rather than our March/April stay

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments, they are always useful and a good way to make improvements. Sorry it did not add up to your expectations I will pass this on to the owner's. But I did a check and all essential cutlery was there. The blinds were down but open. Electric heaters in bathrooms are not allowed. All the rest I will look into. Thanks again for your comments. Stephen.

Sowohl die Ferienablage, als auch unser Haus an sich waren sehr schön, mit herrlicher Aussicht.

  • 4 of 5

Special interest holidays:

For those who don’t like driving, many trips and excursions can be arranged i.e.- A trip to an isolated beach only possible in a 4 wheel drive or a snorkelling trip or combine both, or a trip in a large sailing boat stopping in isolated bays and islands and sipping vermentino before a snack on board. There are many mountain and coastal walks where you can go it alone or we can help by a guided walk. And for those who like wine there is wine tasting at a local vineyard were you get to taste real organic wine, and maybe some local cheese and salami. If you like home cooking then we can always cook you a traditional Italian meal.New an excursion on a 12 mt sailing boat all day trip visiting some of the islands, snorkel, swim, or combine it with some sailing lessons. This is a beautiful trip and at a very reasonable cost. Or maybe an evening meal aboard,in a quiet bay,to eat fresh fish with a nice glass of vermintino.

You don’t have to go far to find a beach as the village has its own private beach, which has pebbles and rocks and not suitable for small children, for those who like to explore this coast is full of small and large beaches, sometimes you are the only one on the beach as this part of Sardinia is still much undiscovered. Fontanamare is the largest at 5 km long, then there is Masua which is one of the smallest both have there own beauty, and all within a short drive or even a walk. All with sand.

The nearest airport is Cagliari which is an hours drive from Nebida also Cagliari has the nearest port. Car hire is always recommended but in this village not essential as you are close to all services etc. And we do offer a pick up service if needed.

The nearest town to Nebida is Iglesias where you will find much life and full of restaurant, shops, banks, supermarkets, fish-market, everything you need to make your holiday complete. You can find information on the things to do on the internet just look up Iglesias, as there are many places of interest. Iglesias is about 20 mins drive from Nebida. Or an hours drive you can find San-Antioco a small fishing port, and the island Carlo forte by ferry.

Further Details:

For those who are more active we can arrange most things and some in advance in peak times as it can get busy. ie mountain bike excursion, snorkeling or pesca sub (spear fishing) or fishing from the rocks,a trip in the remote mountains of San Benedetto, hiking, walking with a guide. One thing not to be missed is a short walk or taken by off road to a shepherds village above San Benedetto to eat roast piglet cooked in an open fire by the locals in old tradition, all washed down by the local wine or beer (not to be missed) But you may have to book in advance. And if you dont want to drink and drive we can arrange pick up for you.
