2 bedroom La Lavande has a delightful outdoor terrace, slanting ceilings, antique tiled floors and church views from every room.
One bedroom has a queen sized bed, the other a double bed. There are two small bathrooms, one with a bath, the other a shower.
Downstairs is a living room with antique tiled floors and windows opening onto both the courtyard and the garden. There is a TV, DVD player and sound system and a wood-burning heater.
The beautiful tiles extend through to the kitchen, which has an old stone fireplace and opens onto a lovely east facing sunroom, perfect for slow mornings with a coffee. The sunroom (which also has a double sofa bed and can be used as an extra bedroom) leads out to a paved terrace area with outdoor furniture and BBQ and views of the village church and surrounding countryside. Adjacent to the sunroom is a laundry with sink and washing machine. Les Roses and La Lavande share only a one metre wide stone wall and have private outdoor areas.
This spacious property includes the professionally interior decorated 4 bedroom house Les Roses and 2 bedroom cottage La Lavande. Enjoy relaxing in the gardens full of fruit trees and roses, swim in the heated pool, play petanque (boules) on our court, step outside the gates into the charming village with troglodyte houses and beautiful church or drive to nearby chateaux and vineyards. It is only 15 mins to the glorious medieval town of Loches which hosts food and wine markets twice a week. The owners have children and the property is designed to keep the kids entertained while the adults can relax around the pool or under the trees. The property is fully fenced and there are pool toys, many bikes, children's toys and books, a tree house and the 12th century grange (one of the village's oldest buildings) has a pool table, dart board and table football. There is free internet access throughout both houses. Les Roses and La Lavande are designed to be rented separately and have private outdoor areas, but are perfect rented together for a large group.
About the Owner
About Kris Webb
We are an Australian family of myself (Kris), Stephen and three girls Zoe, Asha and Leah. We lived at the property for a year in 2004 when our eldest girls were 4 and 2. Since then we have travelled across the world every year to spend a few weeks in our little piece of France.
We have travelled a lot and so have tried to make the property something special, with lots of little touches you won't normally find in rental houses. The girls have grown up spending time at the property so it has things which are good for kids of all ages. If we can't be there we love to know other families are enjoying it.
Kris Webb purchased this house in 2004
Why Kris Webb chose Indre-et-Loire
In France it's very unusual to find a property with good sized grounds in the middle of a village. But our property is exactly that - two houses, charming outbuildings and a hectare of fruit trees and gardens in the middle of the lovely small village of Ferriere Larcon. So it offers the best of both worlds.
What makes this house unique
The property is close enough to all the big chateaux and towns on the Loire - but far enough away to avoid the summer crowds. It's still rare to hear English spoken at the markets in the beautiful medieval town of Loches which is 15 minutes away.
Our favourite thing is still buying great food and wine at the markets and sitting under the fruit trees in the garden to enjoy them.
We know that visitors want to see the best the area has to offer and so have detailed notes in the house which tell guests our favourite places to visit, restaurants to eat at and even our favourite local food and wine.
Changeover Day is Saturday. Arrival time is 4pm and departure time is 10am.
Freshly ironed cotton sheets and towels (including pool towels) are provided free of charge. There are no extra charges such as for electricity, gas etc.

Activity and Interests
Guests can fly into nearby Tours or Poitiers (which have bargain flights from London on Ryan Air). The properties can be reached by car from the UK in one day, with many of the ferryports within 4 hours' drive.
We are only a 2 hour drive from the south of Paris (Orly airport) or an extra 45 minutes from Charles de Gaulle (Roissy) airport in the north. Alternatively, you can travel by train from Paris (either CDG airport or the city) to Tours in less than one hour.
Les Roses and La Lavande are in the middle of a charming village which has a street of troglodyte houses and a beautiful 12th century church. The village's bar/restaurant stocks basic supplies and local delicacies.
There is a food market each Monday in a village 5 minutes away and twice a week in the beautiful medieval town of Loches (15 minute drive).
There is a wonderful restaurant (regarded as one of the best in the Loire and about half the price of it's equivalent in Paris) 10 minutes away. There are also lots of great local bar/restaurants.
There are many lovely picnic spots nearby.
Many of the most beautiful chateaux of the Loire Valley such as Chenonceau, Villandry and Azay le Rideau are no more than 40 minutes from La Cure. Less well known, but just as impressive, is Loches, a picturesque medieval town complete with chateau. Only a 15 minute drive from the property, it hosts a colourful and lively food and flower market twice a week.
The wine areas of Chinon, Samur, Vouvray and Borgueil are all within an easy hour's drive of La Lavande.
The lovely city of Tours (described by Lonely Planet as a "mini Paris") is 45 minutes north of La Lavande. About the same distance away is the atmospheric town of Chinon.
The owners have spent many hours exploring their part of the Loire and have plenty of ‘inside knowledge’ they’d like to share with their guests. They've prepared notes to help you enjoy experiences which could easily be missed in a short stay.

- The owners have stayed in many rental houses around the world and have tried to make Les Roses something out of the ordinary. They have furnished the property with antique items found at local markets and want guests to feel like they are staying in a well loved house, not a basic rental property. They have left guests notes on their favourite places to visit, best local restaurants and places to buy lovely food wine - all designed to help guests maximise their enjoyment in the time they have at Les Roses. There is also information on local walks and bike rides and a map with the owners' favourite routes. They've made arrangement with local restaurants to cook "takeaway" meals so guests can eat at home without the trouble of cooking. Baby sitters and french lessons can also be easily arranged.
