About the property

Cottage in Wheatley, Nr. Oxford, Oxfordshire, England - Village Location Within Walking Distance Of Shops, Post Office, Bank And Excellent Coffee Shop

Set in the courtyard of our own home, but completely separate and private, Gadbury Cottage is cosy and very comfortable whether your choice is for a winter or summer break. It offers an ideal location to discover Oxford and the nearby attractions of Oxford City, Blenheim Palace, Shotover Park, Waterperry Gardens, Otmoor nature reserve, the Chilterns and Cotswolds Hills. Wheatley has all the facilities to meet your immediate needs - 2 foodstores, baker, coffee shop, post office, bank and choice of restaurants and pubs. The village has a long history through it's location on the main coaching route from London to Oxford - it was once descibed as the most agreeable stopping place between Beaconsfield and Woodstock. Today it's transport links are still excellent being just 2 miles from the Thornhills Park and Ride and a similar distance from the M40. There are regular bus services to Oxford and to Haddenham/Thame train station. Central London is c53 miles and Heathrow c45 miles, both have good public transport links.

About Mrs Jenny Steele

My husband and I have recently retired and now have the time to focus our attention on our two holiday cottages. Between holiday lets we spend as much time as possible in our cottage in Devon as we love the area of the South Hams. We are also delighted to enable people to enjoy the wonderful City of Oxford and surrounding area whilst staying at our cottage in Wheatley.

Mrs Jenny Steele purchased this cottage in 1994

Why Mrs Jenny Steele chose South Oxfordshire

Clean, convenient and full of character

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was very clean with everything we needed for our stay. The location is ideal for visiting Oxford with plenty of buses into the city from nearby.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage. Our only disappointment was that the weather wasn't fine enough to enjoy a glass of wine in the superb garden.

Definitely 5 star.

A lovely cottage that has all that you need. My wife and I, as well as our 6 month old baby, stayed for 3 nights and was the perfect getaway.

Great character

  • 5 of 5

A lovely characterful cottage in a great location. Excellent quality furnishings. A spacious mezzanine bedroom with a king sized bed. Plenty of space to park. Regular buses from Wheatley into Oxford. The village has lots of amenities, pubs, butcher, baker, cafes, supermarket, so you can get whatever you need. A great base for our short break of 3 nights.

Very good property clean and well equiped with a lovely stove

  • 5 of 5

My wife ,children and I visited recently and we had a very enjoyable stay. The house is cosy and warm and vey comfortable. The interior consists of a double height space with roofed timbered frame and stairs leading to a large double room on the mezzanine level (which is very rustic!) .A separate bathroom kitchen and bedroom are on the lower levels- all nicely decorated. There is also patio adjacent to the house which is nicely landscaped and the house opens onto an internal landscaped yard. All in all a perfect location for visiting Oxfordshire . There is a nice bakery nearby ,a local shop and pubs and restaurants. Wheatley is very picturesque and easily accessible from the m25. Jenny the friendly owner met us on arrival and left us to our own devices until leaving .
