WELCOME TO "THE PLACE WITH SPACE" - 'LE MANOIR' was originally the 'Masters House' which has been fully restored and extended and can now accommodate up to 20 people in its 8 large bedrooms - ALL ARE EN SUITE. It has a fully fitted kitchen, 2 very large sitting / recreation/ dining rooms with doors leading out to extensive terracing allowing outdoor relaxation for barbecuing, eating and drinking. It has its own private swimming pool with sun terracing and is surrounded by lawns and gardens. The house offers large, self catering holiday house accommodation that gives big families and groups of friends space to relax and enjoy themselves in a tranquil venue with stunning views over the countryside in the region of Lot and Garonne in the province of Aquitaine, France. The property is surrounded in total by 10 hectares (25 acres) of gardens, fields and woodlands with many interesting walks and quiet places, particularly by the lake that it borders.

The region is quiet, unspoilt with friendly people. The property is very spacious, clients refer to it as "The Place with Space". It has spectacular views over rolling countryside and yet is in a convenient location for airports, rail link and access to the city of Bordeaux. The weather is usually warm and dry.

What makes this house unique

The house is really close to local supermarkets, shops, banks, cafes, bars and restaurants and yet offers total peace and quiet with all the things that groups of friends and families expect to enjoy a memorable holiday.

Château Perroterie met daarnaast 'Le Manoir' waar wij logeren is een statig, prachtig, rustgevend en zeer ruim domein met een verbluffend uitzicht op de omliggende valleien en bossen. Wij komen hier al voor de 3de keer met onze familie en wij komen beslist nog terug !

Dergelijke accommodatie voor een grote groep is onuitgegeven : iedere slaapkamer is uitgerust met een ensuite tiptop badkamer...een ongeziene luxe ! Bovendien is er voor elk wat wils : heel veel ruimte in én buiten het huis, zodat ieder het naar zijn zin heeft , ongeacht het weer . De keuken is ook heel ruim en praktisch : niet onbelangrijk als je met velen bent !

Voor dagelijkse inkopen is er een Carrefour op nog geen 5 min rijden ( net vóór het dorp) en in het dorp hebben we een lekkere warme bakker gevonden !

De 'hosts' , Karen and John , zijn heel vriendelijk en attent en helpen onmiddellijk bij praktische probleempjes.

De omgeving is erg uitnodigend : wandelen in een prachtige, rustige omgeving langs weilanden en bossen, zwemmen, spelletjes spelen, relaxen ....er is voor elk wat wils !

Een bezoekje aan Duras is zeker ook een aanrader ! Kasteel en marktjes lokken menig toerist .

Een weekje relaxen en genieten met familie of vrienden : 1 adres ' chez Karen and John in Château Perroterie of 'Le Manoir'!

Outside: Private swimming pool surrounded by terracing with sun loungers and parasols. There is a large barbecue on the rear terrace of the house, there are tables and chairs on both the front and rear terrace for outdoor dining. The whole property is surrounded by gardens and lawns. Utility Room: Utility room off the kitchen with washing machine, etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included. Pool towels can be rented. All are changed weekly. Reasonable cleaning is provided at the end of the stay.

Great house, views & surroundings. Five stars!

Just returned from a fantastic holiday in France at Le Manoir. We had 17 people in the house, 9 children all under 10 and 8 adults and the house was perfect - very clean and tidy when we arrived and very well stocked and set up throughout the house, we didn't need for anything. The bedrooms are all simply but very comfortably furnished and the two lounges was great for our numbers, although with the weather we had we were rarely inside.

Le Manoir has two terraces so you can breakfast, lunch and dinner in the sun and enjoy the stunning views - such a beautiful location. The pool was great and plenty of space for the children to play and ride bikes around the house and there were plenty of walks through the woods and down to the lake. There is another house of a similar size next door, which was also full when we were there, but the way the two houses are set up we barely saw or heard them so did feel like we had the place to ourselves.

Beautiful surrounding area with lots of vineyards. Duras is a pretty town just up the road with a very good supermarket and boulangerie and a good market on a Saturday morning; there was a lovely night food market in Montiton (10 mins drive) on Tuesday; Lac des Clarens is about an hour away and well worth a visit - man-made beach on the lake with aerial walkways and zip wire and a great aquafun area with inflatables (think Total Wipeout!); and there's lots of kayaking on the Dordogne.

John and Karen were great hosts and really helpful when we made our initial enquiries about the house.

Would highly recommend - wish we were there now!

Excellent

Excellent location and property with interesting history. Well maintained, with the owner visiting daily to maintain the pool and garden, and offer other help when needed.

We were 14 in total, grandparents, married son and daughters with teenage children and one 7-year old. All enjoyed their stay, particularly the pool and playing boule until too dark to see.

Duras is a very attractive small town/large village, and we particularly enjoyed the Thursday evening market, when everyone was able to select their own choice of food and eat at tables in the centre and surrounding streets. There was a choice of restaurants to eat out, but our family preferred to cook on the barbebcue and eat in the garden most evenings. We were lucky with the weather, experiencing only two rainy mornings, but fine enough for the pool again in the afternoon.

We will almost certainly be visiting again.

Wonderful house

We rented this house for a week with three other families. We had 10 children between us, aged between 7-13 and they had a ball! The house is very clean and tidy, well furnished and with plenty of amenities - from the dishwasher to the bookshelf full of books. John and Karen were great hosts, providing lots of information and answering all our emails prior to the visit. A wonderful place - would definitely recommend!

The Airport at Bergerac (British Airways, Ryanair, Flybe, etc) is only 40 minutes drive and Bordeaux Airport (British Airways, Easyjet, Air France, KLM and other worldwide carriers) is a 75 minute drive. Libourne railway station with SNFC/TGV Train links to Eurostar and Paris is only 40 minutes away.

Distances:

The Property is situated in the Hamlet of La Perroterie which is superbly located for travel and touring. In easy reach of Bordeaux and the beaches and world famous dunes at Archachon for day trips. It is only 3 kilometres outside the medieval town of Duras with its 13th century chateau, supermarkets, shops, bars, restaurants and banks. The historic town of Bergerac and the world famous town and wine region of St. Emilion are both only 45 minutes away.
